  1. Springfield up 10-3 8:16 left in first half
  2. I can vouch that Moustos is outstanding. We ate there when Springfield was in Paris this year.
  3. I don’t think this game will be close. I think the Big Red rolls by at least 2 TDs if not more.
  4. Beech comes to town this week, and the Bucs have had the Jackets number for quite a few years now. Beech needs to win to avoid a possible fourth place region finish, while Springfield just needs a win and to find some offense. I don’t have a good feeling about this one, and I hope I’m wrong.
  5. Not what I expected, but I’ll take it. 7-3 Jackets at half, Wilson out coaching the Wave staff so far
  6. Even with the Wave’s starting RB out, the Gallatin passing game scares me along with our offensive woes. Hopefully the Jackets figured some things out over the bye week. I was in school in the 80s and Gallatin was the measuring stick for everyone then. I’m so glad Coach Wilson is keeping up this match up, and I hope Gallatin’s coaches want to keep it as well. Gallatin was always THE game when I was in school, and it still is to me somewhat. The Springfield 7-6 win at Gallatin in 1981 always sticks in my mind, for that propelled Springfield to the district 9AAA title that year. All that made the playoffs in those days was one team from each district, and the old 9AAA was loaded. I’m sure @LEON can pontificate more on that 81 game than I.
  7. He’s too busy helping at the concession stand to do anything in the band at halftime
  8. That was my first SHS game to attend. I was a young one
  9. Boyce Smith Field probably had 6,000 people in attendance for that playoff game in 77. I was there.
  10. Am I correct in the way I see the tiebreaker work if 1) Hendersonville beats Portland, 2) Henry County beats Ridgeway, 3)Beech defeats Springfield, and then 4)Hendersonville beats Henry County- This would create a 3 way tie between HC, HHS, and Beech. Beech would fall to 3 due to a worse W-L record than the other two, who would both be 8-2. Then it’s a two way tie between HC and HHS which would go to Hendersonville due to a head to head win. FWIW, I don’t see Hendersonville beating Henry County in Paris. It will be an interesting game for sure, though. I see the region winding up 1) Henry County, 2)Beech, 3)Hendersonville and 4)Springfield
  11. The final region standings for region 7 will shake out to be Henry County, Beech, Hendersonville, and then Springfield. Thanks for the breakdown for the entire class. Good stuff.
  12. I foresee the Beech-HC quarterfinal winner going to Centennial for the semis. That will be a heckuva game
  13. HC wins in OT running what looked like the same Philly Special play they won with in Springfield two years ago. Final 46-45, the Pats converted a 4th and 20 with 5 seconds left in regulation to get in FG range to tie it up. What a game
  14. I thought about coming tonight myself, and @TheCommissioner and I had even discussed it. After the barn burner I sat through last night on Dickerson Road, however, I’m not sure my heart could take more excitement tonight so I decided to stay home. FWIW, I think Henry County is better this year than they were last year. Beech at home is always tough, and I could either team winning tonight depending on turnovers.
  15. Is Baker number 8? If so, he twisted his knee late in the half on the sack that was a horse collar penalty and has a brace on that knee in the second half.
  16. I was asking the same thing last year @olddevil I haven’t seen anything from him since Covid. I hope nothing has happened to him
  17. It’s a different game for sure if he’s in
  18. Rumors are that #4 for Station Camp may be injured. No idea if they are true but I do know he went out at Marshall County last week in the second quarter just before they scored their only touchdown and never returned.
  19. I’ll try to make it @olddevil, I don’t think the Commish or DB are making the trip. I’m hooking up with 6-7 high school classmates to play golf at Paris Landing earlier tomorrow. A couple of them live in West Tennessee and we’ve gotten to where we meet up when we play in Paris. I won’t be as rushed getting to the game as I usually am. You guys are under the red tent in the corner of the practice field, correct?
  20. Snaps were better against Clarksville. CHS pooched the opening kickoff behind our front line and it basically dropped between three players, and they recovered in the ensuing melee. We fumbled one kickoff in the second half after receiving another pooch kick. Our returner was loose with the ball. There was at least one more fumble if I recall, but IMO our biggest opportunity against Clarksville was our offensive ineptitude in the second half. It’s hard to win games when you’re down 7 beginning the third quarter, and you don’t make a first down in the entire second half.
  21. I’m surprised no one has started this thread before now. It’s always hard to win in Paris, and it will be for this young Jackets team. Henry County is coming off a big win over Riverdale while Springfield took one on the chin in losing to Clarksville. I just want to see some improvement from the Springfield offense with some sustained drives. There were no first downs made in the second half vs Clarksville and the undersized defensive line got worn down by the CHS running game. Clarksville seemed like they had the ball 75% of the second Half. I bet the Patriots are licking their chops while watching the Clarksville film vs Springfield. I will be happy to be in the ball game in the second half. This Jacket team will fight to the very end, but this week they have a big mountain to try to climb.
  22. At least the sun will be lower, but the humidity isn’t going anywhere
  23. The AP polls have been a joke for years. We will know exactly what Springfield has after the next two weeks. I thought, before the season started, that going 5-5 with the schedule the Jackets have would be a great season. This team is beyond young, and like all previous Dustin Wilson teams, will get better as the year progresses. The scary part is that the teams on the tail end of our schedule get better as well. I have no idea what to expect Friday night against Clarksville; like others have already said we might stuff the option or Clarksville might run for 300+ . It will be interesting to watch for sure.
