  1. Quick strike Just wandering what your thoughts of the talent level there now. I believe they have one lineman MTSU is looking at, but are there any others? It may be due to a drop off in talent or is it coaching? I agree that 5-5 is not good in 2a
  2. I agree with your assessment of GP. I know a few parents there and from my understanding they feel it will be status quo for 3 years, especially for FB. They are very happy with the new BB coach and he will be there as long as he wants. In 3 years they said GP will go d2 with every other private, at that time the football program will be overhauled top to bottom, if GP gets the kids from maple wood and hunters lane, watch out in FB and BB.
  3. Sorry to Davidson folks, but this would be a step down for Martin if this is who you are referring to. He took his lumps this year, but will have a powerhouse in a few years.
  4. Congrats TC, obviously the best 2A team in TN this year. I know Harper and the rest of the backs did a great job this year, but I feel not enough credit was given to your line on both sides, they were outstanding. I heard Coach C say after the game that TC felt disrespected this year, I don't believe this will be the case in 2014, TC should be the one with a target.
  5. I don't have a dog in the hunt, but I feel this was a well played game by both teams and I enjoyed watching. One or two breaks more for Alcoa and this gets ugly, however one or two for CPA and this goes to wire. I do agree with a previous poster that the DB covering Richard did an outstanding job. Alcoa adjusted on offense and got a lead and the 5 yard off tackle plays did the job. Overall give credit to Alcoa's defense, but give as much credit to the offense for keeping the ball out of CPA;s hands. Good luck to both teams next year, I believe we will see a repeat.
  6. I guess you haven't been to Blount County lately, if you believe Alcoa or Maryville gets all their football talent from in zone kids then you need to get your head out of the sand.
  7. I believe some officials want to be the focal point of the game. It is sad when a good game is known more for the officials than the play. I know there was some issues about the TC-GP game and before Slimshady jumps me, I heard from a GP parent that the TC coaches told the GP coaches it was an embarrassment. I saw the end of the Ensworth game on Fox17 and the official I believe thought he was at a baseball game the way he was acting. The best officials are the ones nobody notices after a game
  8. I have a question regarding TC and before Slim gets his drawers in a knot, I am not hating, but just asking. I know TC has not played a team recently who could hit the broad side of a barn with a forward pass, do you think this will present a problem? I know coach C is known as one of the best defensive scheme coaches in the area, will this present match up problems with Grace? Will TC try to blitz leaving the corners in man or will coach C go with more zone and read?
  9. Don't forget the Cunningham fellow that went to GP who is now playing for the rams. As good as Martin did at GP I feel they underachieved the last few years he was there considering he had Reynolds playing QB for 4 years. I dare say he is the most successful QB to come out of the Nashville area in the last 10 or 15 years, he started as a true freshman at a D1 school. I'm sure all the GP folks will be slamming me for this post, but facts are facts.
  10. Let me share with you the secret about DCAs success, COACHING. Go back and read the guru's preseason report. DCA lost the entire line except one starter, wasn't sure who would even be there to play and now they are one game from state. This is by far goodwins best coaching job to date and this includes the state championships.
  11. No homer here, just like getting your goat every now and then. I think most will agree TC has a great team in 2a, you don't go undefeated by just being lucky. I see TC winning next week and facing Grace. Don't know much about them, but understand they are pretty good this year too. If TC and Grace both wins, where will the game be played? Will it be on tssaa video? good luck Friday.
  12. Slim Are you saying that TC should have scored 2 more times WITHOUT 8-9-10 15 yard personal fouls? This doesn't make sense to me, TC gets 150 yards in penalties against GP and this keeps TC from scoring 2-3 more times? It would appear to me TC should have scored 4-5 more times with 150 yards from the refs. I do agree with your point about matching up with the homegrown kids, especially with 150 yards of home cooked meals. Best make sure you get the same crew next week. I heard there are quite a few artists in Marion, better make sure someone checks MC's bus for paint cans.
  13. I believe CPA is favored by most everyone to be in Cookeville. but I believe East Nashville has the best chance of upsetting the Lions of any team in the quad. I know Fairview is talented, but East does have team speed and a QB which can cause matchup issues.
  14. I believe this will be too close to call if both teams play as expected. However I do agree with the previous post about the Vikings putting the ball on the ground, if this happens it will be a long night for Humboldt as Dresden will run away.
  15. Unfortunately for WHH, the clock will be running non stop by the start of 3rd quarter. I know they will try their best, but CPA appears to be on a roll to meet Alcoa in the finals. Good luck to both teams.
  16. If he is not 100 percent then it could get ugly for Riverside. Forrest has been playing hard nose defense this year so Riversdie needs him well if they are to stay in the game.
  17. Why don't you go back to the hole you crawled out of and spew your info on the radio or wherever you can get someone to listen to you? Normally I wouldn't post a response to someone's opinion of coaching, etc as everyone has the right to an opinion. However in your case, I recall your post about the senior class at Goodpasture being "cancer" and the program will be better off when they leave. Now you are stating the program was left stocked with 17 seniors and are very talented. I will tell you again just like I told you several months ago, it takes a big man to call 16 to 18 year olds names like this. If you don't recall making the post, it can be found under the blog where Coach Martin resigned. Say what you want about grown men, but you owe this group of young men an apology. If they go 10 and 0 or 0 and 10, it doesn't give you or anyone else the right to call names like this. I just hope no one in your family ever has to suffer this terrible disease and I hope no one ever calls your kids a cancer.
  18. Before the season I would have said no contest with Riverside being the favorite, but Forrest has surprised me this year and I feel this one could go either way.
  19. I believe Mitchell has the most talent in the quad. However, this does not automatically equate to winning the quad. If they play team ball, they will be tough for anyone in 2a. A dark house is Peabody. They may not win the quad this year, but with the head coach and talent in that area, watch out in future years.
  20. I expect the Vikings to be focused for the entire game. If not, it will be a short run, but I can't see this happening this week.
  21. What was the record last year? Last 2 years?
  22. They tackle out of bounds(I suppose the refs have turned a blind eye to the 1000's of tackles made on the visitors side all those years. I know someone who was at that game and they said it was raining most of the night. Can you confirm? From what I know about cars, I have always been told to never buy a car in the rain because you can't see paint issues. How do you know this car was keyed at Goodpasture? Did you go somewhere after the game and blow dry the car? I'm not saying the car did not get keyed, but to say for sure it happened at a school is BS. The next thing you know you will say they caused it to rain to stop TC's speed advantage.
  23. Jackson County will be a tough out, I would be careful to say anyone in the playoffs in any division will be easy. Look at all the upsets over the years. Nothing would surprise me about any team loosing which is favored.
  24. Seems like almost every year there is an 8 beating a 1 (see E Hickman and Pearl Cohn and Smith Cty 2 years in a row). Which 8 has the best chance out of the 4 quads?
