  1. The TSSAA doesn't have any "protocols" when it comes to Covid. They (TSSAA) basically told the state "here, go play, and rely on your health officials to determine if you need to play or not." Nick Saban actually had a false positive, which happens a lot. Continuous Covid testing basically confirmed that he had a false positive. Sam Pittman (Arkansas' coach) has covid now and will miss this weekend's game. Also, the University of Alabama athletic department has way more money than a rural East Tennessee high school. They have the opportunities and luxury to get that done in Tuscaloosa.
  2. That vaccine better get here before MLK day.
  3. The resignation actually came during the week (or before) the Gleason game. Just wasn't announced until the season was over. This isn't a surprised for anyone in Humboldt that follows that program.
  4. I wonder if Jeremy Pruitt is going to have one of those camps like Butch did a few years back, and randomly going to choose Martin, Tennessee as the location? Either way, Gooden did beat Smith on several occasions when they met. I don't think Emerson challenged Smith, because Emerson was hurt his senior year at North Side. Yes, Smith was super talented back then, but his camps is what made him a 5*, not necessarily the competition that he faced on the field on Friday nights. Regardless, I hope that Hutchinson, Emerson, and Smith are having very healthy seasons, along with Darrion Williamson for Florida State (Haywood product).
  5. If Huntingdon dropped of in talent than they’re not longer “3 touchdown favorites” over Moore County. In addition, if Moore County is better than they were last year, have to add that in as well.
  6. Agreed, Dyersburg and Covington will travel well! I think Ripley can travel well if they stay competitive. Millington will probably travel well too
  7. If you're a young football coach, that wants to be a head coach, I think Humboldt is a great place to go. In addition, I think it gives Humboldt an opportunity to hit the reset button knowing they have some momentum heading into 2021. Saying that, and despite being in the middle of two lawsuits (and I believe they have lost one of the two), Humboldt administration needs to invest in the program. The Humboldt administration staff has to ask them this question: "either put money into the program, or get rid of it." Look, I don't care what happened to Humboldt in the past, that happened. But I do care about what happens to Humboldt in the future. They basically need a new stadium, badly!! I cannot imagine what the restrooms are like. They desperately need a new concussion stand immediately. Also, their field house need some massive renovations and needs to be pressured washed, too. It's an interesting job, if the Humboldt administration staff does their due diligence. But they just got to give their new coach a fighting chance.
  8. Few reason actually. First, if you work for a sales company, and you're one of the highest salespeople for your company, you can go a little bit overboard when it comes to using the company's card on an out of town trip. Mr. Bolton is at the very bottom when it comes to the amount of sells he is selling. He's not picking up his weight. From a statewide perspective, Bolton is non-existent, hence the 3-28 record since 2017. Region 7-3A is the same as Region 8-5A. Dyer County will have to make a minimum of 4 trips in the next two years to play their region opponents (Kingsbury, Central, Overton, and Southwind). Dyersburg will have to make two trips into Shelby County (Millington and Bolton) and a long drive (90 minute drive) to Bolivar. Bolton's drive to Dyersburg is a 75-85 minute drive, and it's an hour to Bolivar. It's also not going to be fair to Millington because they're basically seeing their neighbors want to move to another region due to travel, while they're going to stay. In addition, there are already more teams in Region 8-3A than they are in 7-3A, even with Bolton and Millington.
  9. Meanwhile, give me the popcorn and coke when you have Haywood, Milan, South Gibson, North Side, and Ridgeway all in the same class when it comes to 4A playoffs.
  10. I can almost guarantee you that Bolton’s request to stay with the other SCS schools, will be denied.
  11. If I am Lake County, I would play the game, that's just me. Also, nice gesture for the TSSAA giving both teams the luxury of playing a game when they're really not supposed to. The TSSAA didn't have to do that. I agree, with this season being so different, I think we're lucky (as a state) to play into November, something I never thought I would've said back in July.
  12. Obion Central had their sights on Cancun 5 weeks ago, reason why they didn’t play Haywood and probably used the “Covid” excuse to get out of a meaningless game for them.
  13. Thank you for coming out and saying that he’s good as advertised. I wonder what these officials from the northern association and Jimmy that played football at Bradford High School are looking at?
  14. One of their businesses/factories shut down I believe. Bruceton will play hard, no doubt.
  15. Where do you think Liberty is going to go? Orentheus went 5-24 at Liberty, and went 7-24 at JCM. Now, he's at Westwood replacing a guy that won 9 games in two games. I'm not a mathematician but I'd much rather win 9 games in two seasons than 12 games in six seasons.
  16. This has nothing to do with gold balls, I’m referring to the regular season. Good grief
  17. Agreed, Peabody will probably be favored to win state in either 1A or 2A. But what sounds better? 1A opponents: Halls, Lake County, South Fulton McKenzie, Humboldt, Gleason, Bruceton, and Dresden. or 2A: Union City, Westview, Gibson County, Houston County, Huntingdon, Camden, Riverside, Scott’s Hill, and Adamsville...
  18. I do agree that I don’t believe Akin and Wallace will never get this to be a premier threat for the state like we’re seeing from Haywood on a consist basis, and hopefully from Hardin County this year. I just don’t buy in the fact that North Side and South Side are good and decent football teams. They both are 2-2 in district play I believe, and both beat Chester County and Liberty respectively. Now, I’m seeing a massive talent drop, coaching is just not the same from the district as a whole, and we’re experiencing a lack of pride from the fans and students. No one shows up to the games now, which is sad.
  19. North Side and South Side isn't having "success" in the same district. South Side is hurt and the talent doesn't stack up with the foes of Hardin County and Lexington. North Side is not a good football team, Hardin County put up a season high 51 on the Indians, Chester County put up 54 on North Side, that's the most points the Eagles scored in a game since 2011, and Kenwood scored 31 (despite Teddy and Jesse being out for Covid). Somebody in that district has to finish 3rd and 4th. North Side will never be a threat to make it deep in 4A because the inability to throw the ball effectively downfield on a consist basis. South Side will more than likely never be a threat due to talent and playmakers, and I have the upmost respect for Tyler Reeder and Brent McNeal. Danny Giles left Liberty for Westview because the writing was on the wall in terms of the baseball program and talent. Yes, the school board didn't give Liberty an indoor facility and a locker room, but that's the same situation that's going on at Madison, North Side, and South Side. And it doesn't make sense for JMCSS to invest in a indoor facility/locker room right now for those four schools because it just doesn't make sense economically because the teams just aren't going to get much out of them (South Side will get the most out of it the most of the four schools). There's no longer going to be a Brian Ferrell, Clayton Parker, Adam Taylor type talent going on at Liberty baseball, that's just a reality fact. It's basically the same reason why Chris Clark left North Side after having two years to get his team to start in 2013 (Adam Craig's class) and 2014 (Colie Currie's) and belted to go to Madison after the 2015 season (Neal Lasley's class) because the writing was on the wall. Indians haven't been the same since, only won one district tournament since North Side knocked out Covington (a team that was favored in head to Murfreesboro) in 2015 that Lasley pitched in. Baseball is an economic sport, it's expensive. And as tough as this sounds, we're lacking black baseball players from our youth, and it's not just going on in Jackson or Memphis, it's going on nationwide. As weird as this sounds, the "waterdown" that we're seeing in travel ball now, has now played a role in the high school level. There's not an elite team or player in West Tennessee for baseball, travel ball played a role in that. I hope you have pictures of what Liberty looked like from 2010-2015, because they were huge. Hookfin never got that team over the top, but Turner did and won a state championship (if you know, you know) But Orentheus Taylor ruined all of that. Got his offensive playbook off of Madden the video game, that's not fair to the kids who are risking injury by practicing and playing each day. Just having your offensive playbook off a video game just showed me how much he cared about coaching football, and investing into his players. Can somebody please remind me what is Orenthus Taylor's record as a head coach? I can tell you that Scott Akin doesn't care about losing players at Liberty, he just want the right players. But Liberty players have to hit the weight room big time, that's why they're losing. Those kids are small when they step on the field. No one associated at Liberty football understands what it takes to win, other than Scott Akin and Anthony Wallace.
  20. Thank you, I just didn't know if you were one of those people that'll choose 1A just to rack up gold balls.
  21. I will say that Akin missed a game due to Covid. I know that for a fact. I don’t think they’re trying to pull what Obion Central is doing to Haywood.
  22. Which one would y'all prefer? 1A or 2A, I say 2A
