North Side has improved a lot this year, could very well be a 5-0 team. With that, I believe Dyersburg will be their toughest test so far. Not sure if this game is on Thursday or Friday. Similar to Dyersburg, the schedule for North Side may seem down because the regions that both of these teams are playing are down. But NS is clicking, and they have a great shot if they score around 28 to win at Dyersburg if they play Thursday. If this game is on Friday, then the best case scenario is just to get out of there injury free on both sides, regardless of score.

Agreed, tired of seeing games being moved due to rain, or the anticipation of rain. Also tired of seeing games being cancelled when the games barely started. Play the game, even if it means for the game to be over past 11 PM.

Bolivar Central @ Covington - week 5
TryNotToSuck replied to CHARGERFAN's topic in Class 3A & Class 4A
Bolivar has done well with their previous two coaching hires, but they have to put money into the program in someway. Woody has to have a chance to succeed. -
They don't have a hard job. Don't know if you ever been in a casino, but someone "has to pay for all the chandeliers." Meaning, they're getting a new office building in the next few years over in the Nashville area, they're not going to lose any potential revenue while that process is going on. When it comes for increasing coaches fines from $250 to $500 dollars, the TSSAA will probably toot their own horn when they release a statement that coaching ejections are down. If they're down at 30-40%, the TSSAA will make more money in fines than they did last year while ejections are down. When it comes to new changes like the pitch count in baseball, or the spearing in football, etc., they're not in the rule book for the safety of the player, they're in the rule so the TSSAA doesn't get sued by NFHS. Don't think they have a hard job, I believe they're trying to squeeze out as many pennies from the piggy bank without making it obvious, which is what I believe TraderTwo is referring to.

I bet Humboldt is relived to let Shivers go.

I went back and looked at your thread from last week and you didn't have Munford in your top 10, teams listed in your "Outside looking in", and teams in the "Teams to watch" category. Beating Southwind, a team that rallies on speed and space, on a rainy night in Memphis warranted them to be back in the top 10? I'm not mad if you sit there and basically start from scratch all over again. You stated last week you didn't want to put Milan over Huntingdon because Milan hasn't been able to beat Huntingdon. However, Riverside has been able to beat Huntingdon and they're not in the top 10. I'm just missing something here. When you evaluate Westview, I think you have to look at the body of work. When a game is expected to be a blowout, the game is "over" when the score is 21-0. I hate to say it, but whatever happens from the 21-0 spot and onward during a game doesn't matter because we're all now fighting for stat padding and style points. With that being said, McKenzie has the win over Huntingdon, which matters. Riverside played the largest school in the state and lost by 10. Don't know if you're a "moral victory" guy but that should be impressive. Same Collierville team went to Beech and won the game. Region 7-3A is a weak region. It's weak. Westview, McNairy Central, Bolivar, Liberty, Ripley, and Scotts Hill all featuring first year head coaches at their respected programs. Lots of rebuilding programs. I cannot put Westview in the top 5. To sit there and say McKenzie and Riverside (vs Peabody) is penalized for struggling in a rain game isn't fair to me. It's tough to gauge Westview, and I don't think Dyer County will help either because they have Ripley the following week. As always, I appreciate you!
-
Teams that play an opponent that has a pulse get penalized while Westview has played no one and gets rewarded. Although I appreciate the effort, the list is off.
-
If Haywood plays McKenzie right now, Tomcats win by at least 2 touchdowns. Maybe 3.

Please just do us a favor and shut up

Will Westview score 100 this week??
TryNotToSuck replied to Primetime1's topic in Class 3A & Class 4A
And not doing a no-huddle when up by 28+. -
You don't run no huddle up by 48 in high school. No one does. The unwillingness to "read the room" of the opponent is absurd. If y'all do that to Liberty (which y'all probably will) then I lose all the small amount of respect I have for Westview and their program.
-
Happens more than what you think. I'm not a joke, I'm far from it. But a joke is when a team is up 42-0 in the first quarter and run two plays inside 40 seconds left in that same quarter to score a meaningless touchdown, that's a joke.
-
If you want to run the score, that's fine. As a result, if another team wants to throw an unnecessary shot at one of your players and gets him injured, that's fine. We're all watching the same game. Westview is lucky this isn't college football/NFL where there will be more retaliation. I watched the film of the first half of this game, I know exactly what y'all did. Don't see there and tell me y'all aren't "running up the score" because you're lying your *** off. Scotts Hill were shutout by Lexington, and lost to Humboldt. That's all you need to know.
-
No. I think teams can do nearly the same exact things to Obion Central and Dresden the way that Westview did to those two teams. I just believe these “teams” chose not to go that route. Therefore, what Westview has done so far is not impressive to me at all. That’s all.
-
It’s pretty cut and dry. The top 6 teams are Covington, Haywood, McKenzie, Huntingdon, Riverside, and Henry County. I’m not putting them in order but it’s safe to say those are the top 6 teams. I would put JCS at 7
-
“We haven’t really gone into our offensive playbook yet” is a nice way to say our schedule sucks so far.
-
Not worried about this game, shoot me a message when both of these teams meet up in November.
-
Based on that statement, I agree. However, I don’t think it matters who coach this 2024 McKenzie team whether if it’s Hodge or Carr, the Rebels will likely be the favorite to win 1A with either coach. With that being said, if a Lexington fan believes they’re going to win because of Carr and strictly because of him, then they’re a little delusional. While I think 1A is weak and 2A is stronger (especially in West TN) compared to 1A, the 4A classification is way stronger than the 2A classification. Just hope that Lexington fans realized that and understand there are a lot of great football teams that are in 4A. Don’t know exactly what happened in the “coaching talks” over the offseason for Lexington, just hope they didn’t get lazy in the search. For Carr, I think he has the potential to be a great coach, but he is a much bigger challenge to win at Lexington than he does at Milan, he shouldn’t be penalized for not reaching the Quarterfinals/Semifinals consistently when Marshall County/Pearl Cohn are there. If Hodge wins a state championship at McKenzie, it doesn’t mean he’s a better coach than Carr.

Surprised in the score but not surprised in the result that Riverside won. But no need to overreact because the chances of Hollingsworth winning that game are slim. Riverside is just by far the better program now.
-
Don't know how much Munford was trying to win the game, but the problem with teams that put a major emphasis on running the ball is they usually don't have a backup plan when it doesn't work (just like Munford had last Thursday), and those teams have to play basically perfect football when it comes to quality opponents in November. Curious as to why you think they changed the offensive side? Do you believe they have the skill set to throw the ball or have the same offense as they did last year. If you don't know, that's okay!
-
Seems like if there were to be a down year for Hardin County football, this is the year to do it. Hate to say it but Region 6-4A will be a “down” region this year. Chester County and South Side both won, but both teams each only scored two TD’s in their respected games. Not sure what we’re getting out of South Gibson offensively, especially with their best player going down in Lovurn (don’t know the details of that injury). For Lexington, I know they beat Scotts Hill 48-0, but the Lions may win 2 games this year, and it’ll likely be against Humboldt and Liberty. Not much optimism I’m hearing off Highway 100. For North Side, they had the chance to take Crockett County into OT, but failed to convert a 2-point conversion. I’m not a believer in Crockett County either. I can see NS winning the region if the offense gets more consistent each week, and put enough points on the board. At the end of the day, we can make an argument that each program isn’t built to make a postseason run, and we could very well all be swept by 5-4A in November. Wish you and HC the best this fall!
-
It's all good, point of the post is that the resume and culture is good enough to not expect any type of drop off. Not saying they will beat Huntingdon in November this year or go back to at least the semifinals. However, just seems the vibe is this will be a .500ish team, and I don't believe that. And don't assume, I respect you and your fan base, y'all aren't idiots.

Problem is they shouldn't be a "mystery team." I said it during the preseason rankings that Riverside is the most disrespected team across West Tennessee when it comes to football. They've been to the state title game the last two years (not to mentioned they beat Huntingdon in both years) and win 10+ games a season year in and year out. What more do they have to do to get respect? But, people cut them off because they lost some players from the championship team. Okay? Do people not believe this 2024 Riverside team doesn't know how to win? Do people think Riverside is just going to stop winning? Frost is happy and content with his one state championship? Doesn't make any sense to me at all. Frost has done nothing but win. I'm not sure when he left his previous school to go to Riverside, but I believe it was during one of the most challenging and difficult times any small town in America has to go through in the Holly Bobo trial (I think it was around that time). Frost has made that town and Decatur County proud, and it was something they needed during that time. I'm sure Riverside football has a great culture around that program, but again, people cut them off because they lost some players. They also don't have idiots posting nonsense stuff on here like that one school. That's why Riverside is not a top 10 team in many people eyes. I, obviously didn't go to Collierville, and didn't watch a single snap of their game online, so I'm not sure what exactly happened in that game. Collierville plays in the toughest Region in the state in Region 8-6A, regardless of classification. For them to travel to Collierville, with a new quarterback, they had every right to take the "night off" and just get the evening over with. Collierville the largest school in the state, and there is roughly a difference between 2,400 students between both schools. For Riverside to only lose by 10, says a lot about the culture they have, because they have every right to lose 49-7 in that game. Frost is currently a top 5 coach in West Tennessee, he may even be top 3.

New and slippery slop trend developing at some TSSAA schools
TryNotToSuck replied to ReitzFan's topic in Class 3A & Class 4A
I’m assuming you’re referring to the school that your team played at tonight. I thought they have a deal with 731 sports or something like? If so, what’s the difference? Is 731 sports similar to Worthy Road Studios? Just hope there’s a middle ground where everyone can be satisfied about, but money talks.
