  1. If Haywood hasn't played their "best game" yet, then they won't play their best game for the remainder of the season. That's just me being honest. There's no such thing as "perfect" football when you're dealing with High School kids. Honestly, I think they have played their "perfect" game, you just don't noticed it.
  2. West Tennessee has been pretty good this year but we haven't had the history and tradition compared to Middle and East Tennessee schools. Lausanne will win D2-AA, but that's it. Huntingdon was suppose to win it in 1A, but they lost and all we have is Lake County which the Falcons are underdogs to Cornersville. 2A is UC, but I'll pick CA over the Tornadoes. 3A is Covington, but they'll have to play perfect in order to stay with Pearl Cohn. 4A is Haywood. Brighton is underdogs to Beech, that's 5A, and the winner of Oakland/Maryville will win it in 6A. Also, a lot of our teams would get destroyed to Middle/East Tennessee teams. We also don't have a lot of 5A and 6A schools which hurts our perception a lot.
  3. UC fans be like: "We have a very good team, we like to run the football and get 3-4 yards, and whenever the ball carrier is tackled, we like to do it again, and again, and again, and again. And then we will throw a pass to keep the defense honest." "We have a good field (they really do). We like to paint it purple, and red, and blue, but this year, we painted it green." "We have a very good band. Last weekend, they played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and finished 6th of out 22 bands. And when our color guard throws the flags in the air, we let the win carry them and not make an attempt to catch them. But we have a good band." "If Union City loses this game, they lost it, the other team didn't win." "POUND THAT BALL!!! - says the 60 year old man that played left guard in high school." In all seriousness I do think Columbia Academy will win the game if they take advantage of offensive possessions. UC's defense isn't that special. (I'm also not trolling UC, just hopefully having a good sense of humor)
  4. There's a formula to beat UC and that is to score (well, duh) but if a team is playing UC, they have to maximize the offensive possessions. I won't necessarily say that being up 14 in the 4th quarter is a great idea (It is), but if you're up by 14 in the 4th against UC, then you're putting the Tornadoes into a passing situation. If they run it for 2-4 yards, clock will tick.
  5. Accept the loss. Hate seeing posters partially blaming the refs when they lose. Y’all missed 2 extra points as well.
  6. I was referring to Vowell, but he is not an offensive coach. Though, I do think he's ready to be a head coach again. However, if Milan fans wants an offensive coach that'll run a spread offense (if you want to open the offense up) then Blake Butler could be a guy to come to my mind, but I don't think Milan fans would want Blake Butler, coming from 2A via multiplier that's content with 7-8 wins, to a 3A school that wants deep playoff success. Plus TCA pretty much has to run a spread offense because their lineman are the same size as their receivers. After that, there's not many guys I can think of because West Tennessee had a below average year in football.
  7. South Gibson has one good year and defeated a Trezevant team that is at or near rock bottom with the current status of their program, and now we're going to sit here and say that South Gibson is a winning program? There's no consistency going on in Medina. Besides, if a kid move to South Gibson, that's a big mistake. The Milan Bulldogs will be fine, but I truly believe Kevin Ward won't leave the Big A. I think they'll get an assistant who's down the road and has a big game tomorrow night.
  8. Hey man, South Side is just glad to be in the quarterfinals. This team was terrible for years, and somehow they're in the quarters. Congrats to the Hawks, they can win. Won't shock me at all. But whoever wins this Friday better celebrate extremely hard. I mean it. Can South Side's QB find a way to throw the ball effectively down the field will be the key for the Hawks.
  9. Ward would have to deal with Haywood each year and he knows that. However, Crockett is still a good job where going to Milan, may not make it that much better. Swenson, he is in the perfect situation where he is at. Bowling, he is getting everything he wants. But it’s up to him if he wants to move to Milan or not. I know one guy that should be considered, he is just down the highway. Just down the highway.
  10. Nothing irritates me more than seeing a team that scores 50, but gives up 40. I think Brighton fits in that category. They'll score, but I don't think they'll score enough.
  11. Agreed. Sideline warning on the opening kickoff against Adamsville, then another sideline warning against Peabody when the Tide were at the 5 yard line heading into the end zone, when Peabody’s sideline was obviously in their “box.” Really don’t know why the refs were looking back at Peabody’s sideline at the point. I’ve noticed a fast game as well. First quarter lasted 20 minutes and that first half lasted about 45-50 minutes. I’ve also noticed the ref on Peabody’s sideline was on the field during a pass play, and Peabody’s QB scrambled back and threw it to the WR at the Peabody’s sideline. Just thought the ref was out of position and could interfere on that play, even though there might not have been a “perfect” position. I also noticed the white hat blowing his whistle and doing that circle for the clock to start, he would look back at the clock to make sure the clock would start. Made me realized they wanted to get in and get out. Just thought they hurried everything. Game ended a little after 9.
  12. South Side does not overwhelm me. Good athletes all over the field and a underrated running back, but they don’t have “wow!” athletes. However, they have coaches that believe and encourages their players. They win ugly, they’re not a pretty team by all means. I don’t know who I’m going to decide yet.
  13. Yes, it's awful. Hope you got the sarcasm, but you didn't. However, West TN won 4 state championships last year.
  14. Agree, a lot of people had South Gibson at 4-6 this year, simply because they couldn't win a playoff game and a "big/significant" game. They started the season with a win over Lexington (good team, not great), Bolivar team which was a great win, not anymore, and the private school in Nashville which no one from West Tennessee knows about them, nor cares. So, it actually was a pretty good year for the Hornets compared to previous seasons.
  15. Pretty cool analogy about Lexington with what I've been saying all year. One dimensional offense kills them when they're in the 4th quarter and losing. They are falling into the norm of "6-8 wins in the regular season, losing in the 2nd round." Now, I will say the Tigers got better as the season went on. So theoretically, they actually didn't have a bad year. It's just that they are in this rut where they can't find a way to get into the semis, and they still have that one dimensional offense that probably won't go away.
  16. Dresden, East, Whitehaven, and Lausanne won state last year with Liberty and I believe one of the D-2 teams finished runner up. In addition, the PAC-12 is not a bad conference. I mean, Washington is a good team, Washington State is a good team, Utah is a good team, UCLA is a good team, Oregon, Stanford, and USC are good teams as well. I'll take that as a compliment.
