I don't mind athletes transferring if they fit a certain academic requirements for them to transfer (something like 3.5 GPA or higher) just for upcoming seniors. Other than that, it needs to stay in place, but schools will continue to find loop holes, and the TSSAA doesn't seem to care, so why bother? I will say there's one player that reportedly transferred up to those Knoxville schools. It'll be his 3rd time as a transfer and didn't play/couldn't play at the previous two schools. But hey, entitlement is a powerful word my friend.

This is spot on. I can tell which officials are officiating for money compared to officiating for the "love of the game" based on mechanics, shape, and effort.

Liberty is on a 28 game losing streak. That could end at week 1 as they play a team that playing 11-man football for the first time since 2015 in JCM. If you want to count the games that JCM played in 2015 (I don't), they'll enter on a 11 game losing streak. Middleton is entering the 2023 season on a 40 game losing streak. They'll open the season at Vina (AL). Houston County is currently on a 25 game losing streak. Hillcrest is on a 14 game losing streak.

So, what if a fan gets ejected, and no one knows who he/she is? Which school is getting the fine? TSSAA continues to create crazy ideas where there are more questions than answers.

I'll go ahead and call I prediction here. I do believe all these playoff teams in Region 7, will sweep the four playoff teams in region 8. However, none of these Region 7 teams (other than Haywood) scare me in any way. Crockett County has everything set up for them to get a 2 seed. They have both Dyer County and Obion Central at home. However, Crockett's competitiveness against Lexington and Huntingdon will give me a measuring stick on if they can close the gap on Haywood or not. If they somehow not show up in any of those games, then this region could very well be a mess. Crockett's offensive did improve in terms of scoring in the 2022 season, but they're going to have some capability to score 35 on a good football team. They can't rely on slowing the game down in possessions and winning a 17-14 game like they did to Milan last year. To me, that formula isn't sustainable for success. One thing about Dyer County is they have the ability to put points on the board. One thing I would like for them to do is to be more of a downhill threat offensively and not just short and shallow passes. They, too, have a good schedule with road games at Dyersburg and Union City, and they also have a home game against a team I expect to make huge improvement this year in Chester County. It won't shock me if they do get the 2 seed because they have the ability to score. If they do play a team like Crockett County, they need to set the tone and pace in that game. Don't assume Obion Central is going to be the 4th seed because they don't have the history in football compared to the other schools. They did roll into Alamo and won the game last year and got awarded with the 4th seed in a good competitive region. The Rebels did win a playoff game last year as well. I figured they will be hurting a smidge because they lost their running back from last year. I will admit, I don't know anything else regarding to the Rebels other than Palmer seems to have momentum heading to this year. If the Rebels finish as the 2 seed this year (to me that's possible), then we can make an argument regarding Palmer being coach of the year in West Tennessee. For Haywood, keep being dominant as they have been in the past. The only thing I believe Haywood needs to improve on, is to catch the ball. I thought they dropped more passes than usual, some of them were headscratchers. I do believe they need to improve on that. I'm not going to do a prediction on who finishes 2-4, because I do believe it's a wide open region. I'm leaning with Crockett County getting the two seed because they have the two home games with Dyer County and Obion Central. However, if they let the game become a shootout, that's where I can see them struggle. If a team holds Crockett County under 21 points, good chance they can win that game.

Attacking Haywood's "disciplined" and the players have yet to put on the shoulder pads is not surprising to me. However, it's sad. It's not fair for Haywood because the majority of those players are black. They are very good, they have talent with size and speed, and they have an excellent coaching staff that will put those players in great positions to succeed. Enough with this "disciplined" BS talk. They will still be Crockett by 30+. Your racism is showing, @Cavaliers9814. BE BETTER!

Are you talking about students being the commentators or students holding the cameras? Because as weird as this sounds, in industries that demand perfection in a way, I have this weird and odd feeling that young people don't want to join those types of industries. Let's say if a student mispronounced a name/say the wrong number, everybody kind of knows it if they've been following along the game. Do you think they get embarrassed if they do mess up? That's why I always thought younger people aren't joining things like officiating. Because they don't understand how good 90% of getting the calls right are, but the fans are expecting 100%. And when they do make a bad call, how can they handle the bad things from it.. Other than that, I agree. I always thought students should do things like be the PA announcer for basketball/baseball games if they want to. I just never understand why adults just have to do it.

I know it's not West Tennessee, and they may have to dump out more money than the usual school, but Brentwood Academy's coverage of their games are the best I've seen. Great cameras and able to use the ESPN graphics. When it comes to West Tennessee, I want to say Worthy Road Studios does a great job with the Jackson private schools. Good camera angles and good enough picture to put on YouTube to see after the game. I do hope there's a way a lot more schools can find a way to use the same equipment "Worthy Road Studio" can use for their sporting events. I think it's good enough. Doesn't look good when you don't have the local paper like they do in Memphis, it doesn't look good when WBBJ is now basically hiring local reporters to do their job. In the past, they hired people outside of West Tennessee to do their job as reporters. So, the "media" has been thrown out, can't rely on them anymore. I haven't listened to the radio guys enough to know whether if they're doing a good job or not. When the WBBJ/Jackson newspaper basically have abandoned the high school sports throughout West Tennessee, I don't know how you can improve it in any way. What is a bummer is West Tennessee is mainly made of small towns other than Jackson and Memphis. It's not Middle Tennessee where it's Nashville, Clarksville, Murfreesboro, and Cookeville. It's less urban where everybody just covers their own small town/school, and they seem to be proud of it.

It's here to stay, and I like it. If you want to go to another city/vacation destination for July 4th, go ahead. If you want to plan a 10-12 day vacation with your family (my family did that not too long ago) then go ahead. Athletes can be "teenagers" for these two weeks and have fun with family and friends without having to worry about football. This is the last break for these players until November, and December for a handful for them. Not just the players, but also for the coaching staff as well. I don't know if "one week off" in June and "one week off" in July is a good idea. It doesn't necessarily recharge the batteries for players/coaches, and it could bring in trouble regarding family vacation for PTO and stuff like that. If you're asking for one week off and not two, then all you're going to do is wear out your players in October. If you're a team that is going "all out/100 MPH" in June, then I hope y'all don't get a pointless speeding ticket.

Because if they were high on this guy, they could've game Taylor the interim tag and watch Covington to see how he does. The new coach at South Side wasn't going to go anywhere until this job opened up. They can watch Taylor, along with other applicants... I don't think it was that hard of a decision to make.

I just don't understand why JMCSS didn't give Taylor the interim tag, punt this year, and look at a lot more/better applicants in November. Now, they're going to have to settle for this guy and let him be the head coach for the next 2-3 years. I don't know what to expect of this guy other than "he came from Covington as a position coach." They also eliminated themselves from an opportunity to get the guy that I'm sure will receives a bunch of calls to be a head coach coming November (just think a little bit and you may know who I'm talking about). Everything just seemed rushed for no reason at all.

Lol I'm not touching the Humboldt school system as long as Janice Epperson is their superintendent. I agree with what you're saying, Humboldt is not a good job when it comes to off the field situations. And I do agree with you, nobody enjoyed being an assistant at North Side under Powell. If Teddy wants out at Humboldt badly, then I would recommend him to bear down for another 6 months before another job (and more jobs) potentially comes open (hint, hint).

Then why did Teddy accept the Humboldt job in the first place if he's looking for a way out after year 2 of a massive rebuild just weeks away before year 3? Teddy knew what he was getting into before accepting that job. Everybody knew it was going to take some time and patience for him to turn that program around. What's Teddy's purpose in coaching? To win? To make the most money? To find a school where he's content and staying there for 10-15 years? To me, I see at least 5 wins on the schedule for Humboldt this fall if everything goes well. They have the athletes to beat some of their opponents, with a chance to beat Scotts Hill, Dresden, and Lake County. Those are the games where Teddy can win and steal a game based on coaching. I would prefer for Teddy to stay there again and see what he can do. It doesn't look good for a coach to be entering this 5th year as a "head" coach, but will be entering his 3rd different school in that time span. If Teddy does well, and I hope he does, then he can cash his chips in and leave for a better job. Similar to what Derek Rang did with Dresden, as he left for Gatlinburg-Pittman. If you're South Side, why should they hire Teddy? He hasn't accomplished anything that proved he can be a good coach other than has the "experience." They're going to punt this fall, and will likely do it next fall as well. They're more in a "rebuild" than what Humboldt is going through. What makes you believe Teddy can come in and beat Chester, Lexington, South Gibson, North Side, and Hardin County with an "ehh" resume? And if he does make it to the playoffs as a 4 seed, then congratulations, Pearl-Cohn, Station Camp, Marshall County, and Creek Wood is waiting on the other side. South Side has to be honest with themselves and understand where they're at. As I, and what @ItsAlwaysSunnyInAtwood stated, when you look at like from a on-field perspective, Humboldt is an easier job to win at. Since the beginning of the 2019 season, South Side has a 13-29 record. I don't understand what makes you believe Teddy can head down there and turn that program around, and compete against better coaching. South Side is a tough tough job to win and be successful at on a consistent basis.

Because JMCSS (and other school districts) would rather hire a below .500 head coach than to hire a young assistant that is a proud alum at his school to take over. To me, the most overrated thing is when someone has "experience" or "years under their belt" at certain situations. Doesn't mean their "experience" is always good. I don't know what happened first (Taylor leaving or Reeder resigning) but South Side's biggest mistake was to let Taylor walk out of the hallway.

Because no one will take this job. Who wants this job now in June? People that put themselves in sticky situations because they were handed keys to a car that can be good, but ended up wrecking car and trying to find a way out. There was no improvement from year 1 to year 2 in the Teddy era at Humboldt. Similar to his situation at Milan, right?

Crazier than you saying he's going to take that job? Is Humboldt a better job than South Side? Yes... Is Humboldt a good job now? No. Can it be a good job? Yes. There's a reason why 4 coaches left South Side. They're going to be fortunate to win 3 games this year.

Two different situations than what I'm referring to. Do I ultimately agree with you from that aspect, yes. However, this is why I'm going to disagree with you as well. Lake County is in its own island. Last time I checked, hardly anybody is moving to Tiptonville. If I go to Lake County (which is rare) the only thing I look forward to is eating catfish at one of those restaurants, that's it. For Humboldt, it's a different story. There are more jobs in Humboldt, there's a school 10 minutes north of the town, and there are two schools about 10 minutes east of the town. All three of their schools have done something recently when it comes to facility upgrades. Peabody: 50 yard indoor facility Milan: New stadium and I think they have a indoor facility as well. South Gibson: they don't need anything new in football, but they made major upgrades in their minor sports recently. For Humboldt, a school that doesn't have the test scores as to any other schools across Gibson County, have to find something that may be worth sending kids to their school. If they're struggling at that, then there's no value or reason (as tough as it sounds) to send a kid to Humboldt High over any other school across Gibson County. Humboldt should be a top 10 team in 1A and fight with Union City to win their district. That should be an expectation with their athletes in a classification that may struggle to find a good amount of athletes on a specific team. If they were to upgrade facilities and make it comparable to the other schools across the county, then that could get them a better chance of getting a good coach (not saying Teddy is bad). And when you look at the other schools across Gibson County, Humboldt actually may have the easiest chance to win a state title because the other schools' path to win, is difficult.

Don't overreact to a rumor... I do think Humboldt (as weird as this sounds) is a better job than South Side. The only thing holding Humboldt back is some type of donation for upgrades towards their field house/stadium.

It's been reported they are down two more assistant coaches as well. 4 coaches total if you include the head coach.

I hope somebody calls 911, because there is a fire at South Side. This team isn't good, and they weren't good at all in 2022. They won 3 games, and all 3 teams they defeated were basically winless teams (if you dissect the schedule, you'll know what I mean). Not surprised by the announcement, the timing was a shocker though. They struggled offensively, couldn't develop an efficient deep passing game. They also lack playmakers and big play ability. So, who wants the job? Can't just assumed that an assistant would want to take over. There are other opportunities that are out there. When it comes to Jackson schools, South Side lacks the talent the other schools have, they also struggle to sell out the stadium for years now. They basically have their own middle school that feeds into SS, but they haven't produced much talent as well across the middle school rankings. I don't think people understand how bad West Tennessee was at football last year...
