  1. Here's hoping their title game rematch ends the same way it did in 2018 with Whitehaven
  2. Because it doesn't make the kind of money required for those organizations to get involved. Middle quit bidding on the BCB for a reason Besides, who wants to see 2,000 people at stadium that can seat 75-100k? That just looks sad
  3. Oakland throws it around more than they do in a usual year. With dry conditions in the forecast, I think they'll be able to keep Houston honest. Believe the skill players of both teams cancel each other out, the LOS and turnovers will determine who wins 6A Trying to repeat at this level is very hard. I think Houston has proven they are here to stay as long as the current staff is there
  4. I wont debate that if you look at 10 year intervals for each class that East TN has been the better area in 4A but he's asking why East TN athletes currently don't play for privates. Middle TN has closed the gap in the last 5 years in 4A and starting to get that way in 5A. Not even Maryville fans will say East TN runs 6A East dominance in 3A is due to only 1 team that is moving up. If who had the most titles meant so much, then why isn't every college athlete going to Princeton or Yale? Overall fit for each individual player matters
  5. Well aware of the history of each class but we're talking present tense. Only 2 of the last 9 (soon to be 10) state champions in 6A are East TN/Maryville. Macon County-Melrose about to make it 3/4 from Middle TN or West TN. That's not running things Only 3A and 5A have been dominated by East TN teams. Athletes stay in publics in East TN bc A.) quite frankly the private schools in that area are not good and B.) There isn't that many of them Otherwise, the rate of attrition would mirror what you see in Middle TN
  6. Not sure why we are talking about public schools on a private school forum but short answer is no and top 3 classes aren't run by East TN, just 1 is
  7. FWIW, 1st 3 rounds were produced by students and while the camera work left much to be desired, they had no such issues
  8. I can't speak for every Oakland fan but I've never made a trip to Maryville and regret it. Not even that bad of a trip, lately Oakland has had regular season games that are much further. Idk how you can call yourself a HSFB fan and not have immense respect for the way Maryville does things. I remember not even being mad that Oakland lost in 2017 since it was such an incredible playoff game
  9. You can't coach speed, that's true. That said, what's gonna happen when Macon shows up in a wing look? All it takes is 1 Melrose defender out of place and either of the twins breaks a big gain. Speed gets some teams arrogant and they end up doing things that a disciplined defense never would do. Both teams have beaten really good competition to get here and I don't see this as a blowout either way
  10. Tupelo is a top 50-ish team. Score was 28-13 going into the 4th quarter. You and I got a different idea of competitive. Tennessee isn't on par with the big dogs, but willing to bet if you took the top 15-20 in TN and put them up against a state with a similar population, they'd fare pretty well. In terms or FBS talent they are in the top 10-15 range
  11. No shame at all about losing to Tupelo
  12. Breaking News: Life ain't fair Alcoa is playing in the class they were assigned to. No sandbagging, cheating or skirting the rules. They have the same chance to win the state title as everyone else. They play a schedule that is much stronger than one of a typical 3A team. They challenge themselves to get better Your team isn't due a trophy just because they are good. There are tons of good teams that dont
  13. Far as I'm aware of, pretty much no one in East TN runs it. Irony is so much of modern football can be traced back to roots in Wing-T, Wishbone, Power T/I, etc
  14. Something I havent seen ppl bring up yet is when Macon County started to show the Wing-T in the 2nd half. Idk how often AC sees it in their part of the state, but was clear they didn't really know what to do. Thought it was a pretty brilliant move to keep AC off balance
  15. Well that and a bunch of other factors but yes it doesn't help
  16. It's cliché, but just happy for them to be here at this point. The season could have gone sideways at any time but these kids just don't quit. All I'm asking for is clear skies Saturday Night
  17. Hard to compete with the friendly confines of a heated home. 10 years ago, we were just happy to be there against the Rebels Maybe we can play in that fancy dome the Tite-Ins are having built
  18. They are definitely not easy on the old ticker. We're gonna need that luck against a Houston team that is probably the favorite going into that game. Could have played this game 9 more times and I don't think the margin of victory really changes that much no matter who wins. Casual observers still think this is 2018-2022 Oakland and the truth is Oakland will never have a run of dominance like that again. Also feels like Maryville has adapted their philosophy to better prepare themselves against Oakland or teams like them. Not alot of smoke and mirrors with their offense either, what you see is what you get
  19. STARS, not sure any kind of promoting is going to beat temps in the 20s, it was colder than a witch's heart last night. Me thinks some people also getting tired of our annual meeting (not this guy)
  20. Maryville returns a good bit, including their QB. I fully expect them to be back at this point next year. Jokingly said Oakland’s nickname should be the Houdinis, but you better finish them off if given the chance. They are just too well coached and talented not to get things figured out at some point. That said, Houston will require being at their best for all 4 quarters, looking forward to having a shot at those guys when the game isn't played in a monsoon
  21. Saulsberry won his 2nd title against Kevin Creasy.... There isnt alot of coaches with wins against both coaches on their resumè
  22. Time for your crow. How do you like it cooked?
