Come on Goo Goo....Don't you get it Pickett NEVER gets beat it is always something else(usually the refs)I bet if the LA Lakers came to Byrdstown the refs would cause PC the game(never outplayed or outcoached) Good luck CSAS
-
I agree 100 percent that no one is holding a gun to anyones making them referee and if you talk to a ref they will probably want all the games they can get. My only real point in all of this is I have heard for many years "the refs are making X number of dollars an hour..." well not really considering travel cost but it is the same if a person lives in Livingston and drives to Nashville to work, the time and expense has to be considered.Big Daddy, I have enjoyed discussing this with you......Good Luck to the Lady Wildcats thre rest of the way!!!!
-
Not to argue, but in most jobs that require travel the employee is compensated someway but put that aside for the moment I assume you are from Livingston so let's say a Ref from there has to go to Murfreesboro to work a game about a hour and half trip one way, get to the school an hour before tip, three hours to work two games, hour and a half trip back home. Now by my math that is seven hours, and there are plenty of things I would do for ten bucks an hour before I would go ref and put up with that kind hassle. In my mind there is no way you can elminate the travel from the pay equation. With all that said I agree with most of the posts I would like to see the refs do a better job and realise they are there for the game not the other way around!
-
you might be off a few hours, how about travel to and from games with gas getting back to close to 2.50 a gallon and I am pretty sure they do not walk in the gym and start the game. I think they are suppose to be at the gym 45 minutes to an hour before the games so on a good night I would guess you are looking at a four to five hour night maybe more

OK....the same refs call 7aaa as do 7aa, why does almost any topic turn into a discussion of officials epecially when the person posting has no leg to stand on? You sound like you are from Pickett Co.

Rich Kimberly could very well be the best in the whole state. He should probably be calling SEC or ACC maybe even the NBA.

Any game Dale Clark from Cookeville refereed

District 7A Sweep-Does this mean the regional Tournament can be moved?
tex replied to DaCoach's topic in Boys Basketball
The whole tournament was suppose to be played at Sparta but due to conflicts in schedule(White Co. vs. Shelbyville). The entire tournament was moved to Livingston. -
Anyone SEE the Jimmy Oden ejection last night

Come to Cookeville, they must be giving copies out at Wal-Mart or something. I bet I have talked to a dozen people who have seen the tape -
I love it!!! You are the man!!!!!!

Is this thread about Wayne Co./ Pickett or how much Devil,Milk and Muffin can post about one another.Talk about the games or get over it!
-
Unapproved Website has their recruiting class as top five in the state. thumb

Devil nothing personal at all just having a little fun! I guess I'm a little "pro" officals as you say, I, like you have a few friends who ref but I have no problem saying when the officiating stinks, I for one just don't think it stinks as bad as many on here would have us all to believe. To the point of your original question looks to me like a fair share of road teams won on the road in girls substate action. One last thing not from the Range but would be darn well proud if I were.
-
Devil, looks like you and yours up in Clackson Co. should worry about hitting a free throw instead of who is reffing the game!! thumb
-
That is a joke as long as players play and coaches coach fans will cry about refs no matter how good or bad they are. And it is only getting worse
-
I have a friend that is an offical and I asked him the same question, and yes the higher seeded team is considered the home team therefore they wear the light colored or home jersey. An interesting note about a rule change is in I believe '06-'07 the home team has to wear white colered jerseys not just light colored and I bet many coaches do not this is coming
-
We have one in Cookeville that has to be the biggest joke going. Never just reports about the game always ready with an excuse of how CHS got screwed one way or the other and the bad part is all he really does is hurt the school and even they cannot stand him
-
If it comes down to coaching I will take Westmoreland
-
Plus I think you may have a little crush on Coach Smith!
-
Try running an offense besides a fastbreak. How about a zone defense instead of a half court trap! MJ has a great team but their coach is either clueless or classless
-
talked to a lady who goes to church with the Hacker family and said if nothing goes wrong she will make it out with a concussion and a busted nose
-
Benchcoach, you do not like Hess, O.K. fair enough that point has been beated to death. The man can or cannot coach(to each his own opinion) but what does him living in Cookeville have to do with anything!
-
While I agree that we do not pay good money to watch officials, many nights if fifty fouls ,or what ever the number is, are not called there will be a fight. I have watched high school ball from Memphis to almost the Tri-cities and in the Upper Cumberland(7 a-aa) boys as well as woman can not deal with contact that is not called
-
Luke, I bet they are tired of it but you sure are not helping matters at all, as an official you need to be above all this garbage!
