Someone tell us what went down. What a game!

I think it will be a good game but with the two best players on the court, I got Greenfield by 12. Dresden will play tough with their defense, but they struggle to score sometimes. Greenfield will go on several mini runs that gradually pulls them ahead by a dozen.

Summertown by 11. I agree with the Croppy man. Fillies haven’t been clicking on all cylinders lately and they are making their 2nd loooong trip in two days. I think they may get a little sloppy and may not have the legs to shoot as well as they need to to win.

I was at the Huntingdon v Loretto game last night, I thought that three point shot at the buzzer was going in. It looked good from the time it left her hands. Loretto‘s defense was stifling. The Fillies were lucky to escape with a win. Their game with Summertown is going to be a good one. Both should be in Murphreesboro

And the gold ball goes to Pickett County! So says ucsportsfan. Who will be the runner up.

I thought you believed that CLarkrange was the best team this year. Is Pickett playing that much better now come tournament time?

I am thinking specifically of tournament time last year. Huntingdon struggled down the stretch to finish off Union City, Dresden, and TCA despite having very comfortable leads in the 4th qtr. If I remember correctly, they blew a 10 point late 4th qtr lead on TCA and could have lost in regulation before regaining their composure and winning in OT. Did not see these struggles in the regular season this year or last. Hopefully, they are in the rear view mirror.

Good to know. Hate I am going to miss the state title game. I will be watching the Region 6 tourney. I heard zebra35 was refereeing!

Huntingdon has a history of not finishing off teams when they have leads late. It will be interesting to see if they have corrected that problem. They are the better team IMO but if it is close late, you never know....

I don't think she even scored Thursday night, did she? That game was sloppy. Greenfield was not shooting the ball well and still won by 26. That game could easily have been a fourth qtr running clock had Greenfield shot like they normally do. I think they are the better team when they play GC, but I think they were the WAY better team when they played Gleason in the District championship. Good thing about finishing second is that they didn't have to get banged around in the Region opener against Peabody. Loser leave town matches seem to always be fairly close. I got Greenfield by 10, but wouldn't be shocked if GC won a nail biter. Wish we were playing tonight. I got nothing to do now.

Lets hope not because if they can get by GC, they have a chance for the gold ball. Single A is WIDE open!!!

She was nominated as were several other girls that had similar stats. It was a tough year for Miss Basketball nominees because there can only be three finalists. It is simply a numbers game, and probably 4-5 girls just barely missed out. Brooks was probably #3A or 4. Just unlucky. She is a straight baller!

It is going to be a great state tournament with all the teams being pretty even and no team being heavily favored. I agree that if you get to state, you have a punchers chance. Whoever handles the pressure of the big stage, will likely bring home the gold ball. Good luck to all!

Not really impressed by a 4 point win for Perry county at home over an average at best McKenzie team. Hopefully just nerves for the Lady Vikings! Better improve a lot to beat the Fillies!

IMO, every miss basketball winner that did not win a state championship would trade their Miss Basketball win for the gold ball. There is no need to pit two of the best single A basketball players in the state against each other because both girls will get a free education to the school of their choice. The more the two girls are pitted against each other, the less likely they are to accomplish their team goals. Rather obvious, I know. That being said, GCPioneer and Pioneer, can I get an amen as to how down single A basketball is in west tn this year? The GC and Middleton teams of 2016 (with Lannom and Fields for GC and Perry et al for Middleton) that met in the semis at state would beat the GC, the Greenfield, the Dresden, and the Gleason along with ALL teams from Region 8 of 2018 by 20 plus points!

Neutral party here.... I doubt either side is scared to play the other. Most likely, dates could not be worked out between the 2 schools given the district schedule. The only west tn team that is scared to play another team is South Gibson. They refuse to schedule Gibson County because it would be too embarrassing to get throttled by a school half their size. That being said, Allvolhere, you are correct that Huntingdon's district is soft. In fact, it is beyond soft. It is non-existent outside of Huntingdon. But I disagree that Huntingdon would be travelling if Dresden and gleason were in their district. Huntingdon only has one loss on their record and it was to Greenfield (#2 in the state). However, they did beat Greenfield AT Greenfield and beat Gleason AT Gleason as well as beating GC at home and away this season. Dresden is good but would have a hard time matching up size-wise with Huntingdon. In addition, I would have to give the guard play advantage to Huntingdon. We may just see this matchup in the Boro so our disagreement may just be settled on the floor.

Agree. Guard play is the key in the post season. You have to be able to handle pressure because it is amplified this time of year. If you have one solid guard that can handle the rock, you have a chance, if you have two and any sort of post presence, start searching for hotels in the Boro. The Fillies fit the latter.
