  1. Don't know what is wrong with NWHS, they were picked to be the team to beat in Clarksville by a local sportswriter.
  2. 2 close friends going against each other. My bet is neither one is fired up about playing the other because of their friendship. But this week, friendship goes out the window until about 10 pm game night. Wish I could be there to watch it as both are also my close friends. Good luck to both and hope it is an injury free game.
  3. Bottom line...Lebanon won...nuff said...
  4. With HC's blowout and NEHS's blowout, can't wait for that game. If they both take care of their business, they should be 1 & 2 in Region 7 with the head to head winner #1. Both host a playoff game and we'll see where it goes from there.
  5. According to the Leaf Chronicle Skylar Luna now plays for Clarksville Academy. Now I know that's impossible and I can't answer why the rotation of QB's. I don't care which plays QB as long as they are productive and leads CHS to a W, anything else is just fodder for the message boards.
  6. Saw both play last week at APSU. In a side note, thanks to AP for allowing all county teams that had a home game play at Fortera Stadium. Saved many grass fields for the rest of the season. Now to answer the question with statements. Rossview has improved drastically since their week 1 loss to CHS. Didn't get to see them in the jamboree, but did in weeks 1 & 3. Saw Northeast in jamboree and week 3. My first question is: WHERE IS GUS ANTOINE BEEN THIS SEASON? Don't know if he is hurt, in the dog house, or what. Also another 2 year starter at FS has not been seen, Jalen Fergueson. If those 2 play that is a great weapon on offense to match with the Duece, Quentin Cross. Fergueson should be a factor in the secondary for NEHS. Should be close within 7 points. QB's will be the deciding factor.
  7. firstandgoal, The turn around at LHS is not going to happen overnight, during the spring, or during summer. It will take some time. Haven't seen them play in years but will see them week 10 vs. Rossview. I know some of their coaches and know they will not leave any stone unturned trying to find a solution. They will work harder, they will eliminate some excess baggage, if there is any of that in their program, they will demand PERFECT EFFORT on every play in practice and games, and you will see improvement, just can't tell you how soon. You think 60 yards of offense was a joke. I have been in a game and we had 49 yards of total offense and got beat 14-3. Got two turnovers inside the 15 and got 0 points.
  8. First time to see Wilson Central play ever. Saw Rossview vs. CHS, week 1. The have improved tremendously with their QB play, both of them, defense and all around play from week 1. Rossview looked VERY much improved and had they executed this well in week 1, they would have beaten CHS.
  9. Clarksville Academy vs. Zion, 4 pm Friday Clarksville HS vs. Lewisburg, Ms. 730 pm Friday NEHS vs. Kenwood 12 noon Saturday Rossview vs. Wilson Central 4 Saturday
  10. Only 2 Clarksville teams won last night, CHS and WCHS. Hope NEHS will be the 3rd this weekend. Want to congratulate West Creek for their win Friday night vs. Heritage, a team they should beat. Hopefully this will give them the kick start to a successful season. Again congrats Fig, T and D.
  11. Pilgrim, great seeing you tonight. Hope CHS gets the kinks worked out with PAT/FG, as they left 5 points off the the board. Would love to know how many yards CHS had in the game AFTER 1ST CONTACT was made. Both teams had their chances and will have to wait and see all other scores before deciding the Edward's Steakhouse Team of the Week for week 1. Of course Northeast plays tomorrow in Bowling Green and naturally wishing them the best of luck. Sorry, but I wont make the trip to Yellow Jacket country next week. Haven't decided which game I will attend, but pretty sure it will be a local game.

Wonder what the incident was after the game where 2 RHS players took off jerseys & shoulder pads and were stomping around. Hope Skyler Luna is ok for CHS - fine athlete and competitor!
  13. Pilgrim, Uber is picking me up at 5:15. Just hope I can sit in those bleachers for 4 hours, I'll be OK if they let me sit on an aisle. Hope both teams come out injury free and you know what colors I'm wearing!
  14. Pilgrim, Really appreciate the offer for a ride. Linda and John C. have been driving Mr. Daisey around for 2 weeks. LOL. I feel quite confident he will pick me up Friday and get me to the game on time, as we have been going to games together since we were 8 years old. Be glad when they let me drive again, but I understand and will do what Dr. B. says. Edward's Steakhouse is going to sponsor a TEAM OF THE WEEK IN MONTGOMERY Co. each week of the regular season. At the conclusion of week 11, we will name a TEAM OF THE YEAR. Plaques will go out each week and at end of year. Just a small way to give back to the players and coaches for their hard work each week and to reward them for a BIG WIN on Friday night. DirtroadDaddy, I have no knowledge about a rift between CHS coach(es) and the CA QB. I know from watching him in middle, he was a fine field general even though a bit small at that time. From all accounts he may very be the best pure passer in Clarksville this year. As you # of DC's in the last few years, couldn't agree nor disagree with you. Play calling on both sides of the ball is grossly overrated. You can have the "perfect" play, blitz, coverage" called and get toasted. Why? Because you didn't coach your kids to correctly respond on that call in that game at that time. I have coached for 42 years and have never won a game in my life with a call. Lost quite a few, including '96 state championship game with a call, haunts me to this minute. Always held true to this statement: COACHES DON'T WIN GAMES, PLAYER'S WIN GAMES. COACHES LOSE GAMES. jmho
  15. Don't think the CA QB was run off. Think the parents chose a school that is smaller with a high academic environment. Not saying you couldn't get a high academic environment and education at CHS, they simply chose a different path for their son. He may be the best pure passer in Clarksville. Personally, don't think coaches run off players, players don't want to abide by the rules a head coach puts in place, well so be it, take your self and your football to another school and I wish you the best of luck. Been saying this for 40 years, don't know where that high school/college is that everybody wants to attend. Hard to believe, but there are some players that don't want to go to Alabama, Michigan State, Clemson. Why? Maybe the coaches, maybe the academics, maybe the discipline, maybe the distance from home. Who knows, maybe that's why Bryce chose CA. Can't wait till Friday night, only thing better than coaching football on Friday night, coaching in college on a Saturday afternoon. Will attend a game Friday if I can find somebody to drive me. GO CATS, BEAT THE HAWKS!!!
  16. Discipline in all sports programs in today's world is different. Kids can't be held accountable for anything. They miss off-season workouts because they aren't mandatory. Get mad during spring practice and leave during practice. Shows up when they feel like it during the summer. In 1996, before the dead period was instituted, I told all of our football players they had 5 free days during the summer where they could miss with no questions asked, i.e., baseball, vacation, attend football camp, etc. Once they missed that 6th day they had a mile to run for each of the 6 misses and it had to be completed before we started practice, which was always 1 week prior to full pads. I had our starting QB/FS, FB/LB, WR/CB, 2 OL, 1 DL go to a 3 day football camp at N. Carolina. They then called and said they decided to go to Myrtle Beach for 3 days. They also went to UT's camp. 6 misses, 6 miles. Only one of them had any type of complaint - QB/FS and after speaking to his Mom about this said she understood but didn't think it was fair. Sorry, those were the rules and everybody knew them before school was out for the summer. Guess who the QB/FS was...sometimes sleeping on the couch to prove a point is well worth it! If i were still a head coach it would be simple...you miss a workout (s), you have agilities and/or running to make up for the workout you missed. NOT PUNISHMENT, catching up to the rest of your teammates conditioning. Mommy & Daddy don't like it, good luck at your new school, wherever that may be, cause you ain't playing for us. DOES THE DOG WAG THE TAIL OR DOES THE TAIL WAG THE DOG?
  17. Should. 4 WR, 1 Rb. skill kids at WR. Power back at B. Might need a speed guy there also. Hope QB does what he is capable of doing and plays within himself. Get the ball to the playmakers! Didn't see Greenbrier scrimmage, looked OK vs. Cheatham and they should have.
  18. Attended the scrimmage and the above assessment was correct. Thought it was going to be a long night for the Cats when MJ took the 1st play the length of the field for a td. Thought the score was 5 - 1+ 2 FG, but I could easily be wrong. Attended the APSU scrimmage today and was told by a reliable source that after I left early in the 2nd half of the scrimmage, there were 2 instances where a scuffle broke out. 1st incident was caused by big OL from CHS that pulled a Ric Flair and karate chopped a MJ player. Next was a face mask grabbing incident by #18 from MJ. Shocked that I attended 2 scrimmages at APSU and neither time were there any officials working either scrimmage. Must really be short of officials.
  19. I don't understand why a coach leaves a program AFTER dead period, shells practice and joins a new school during first week of full pads. Have know Coach Clark and knew of his struggles with Houston Co. football. Good luck to the NEHS Eagles. They might throw it for 4000 yds this year.
  20. dbgrad70, must have a son that does not get enough playing to satisfy to satisfy him.
  21. Good Luck vs. Tenn. High in your scrimmage. Hey dbgrad70, what great football factory did you come from? You don't even know if the big 32 still is in place or not. NO, it fell by the wayside. Got an idea, why don't you apply for the job when it comes open? Surely to goodness you can produce 200+ wins in the next 20 years.
  22. Congrats to NEHS baseball team for winning the region title last night and having the opportunity to play for an opportunity to play in the state baseball tournament next week in the 'Boro. Head Coach Dustin Smith, his assistants and players have had a great season and are peaking at the right time. It has been 20 years since they have had this opportunity. 20 years ago I sat in Engle stadium in Chattanooga and watched NEHS play the Halls Red Devils in the first round. My son played for HHS and Doug Polston, baseball coach, was one of my assistant football coaches. The game was very exciting and HHS pulled out the "W". This year, I'm pulling for the EAGLES to again make it to the state. The pitcher for NEHS 20 years ago was DUSTIN SMITH. Good luck EAGLES, T. N. P.!!!
