  1. Just curious, I was looking at the region 1 AAA brackets, and there are a lot of forfeits but then on the consolation bracket, the kid that forfeited is still wrestling back for 3rd. Anybody up that way know why there were so many forfeits?
  2. I really think Borders can win 113. He's not the most technical wrestler but that dude is super strong and athletic. And hes pretty big. Not really a dark horse since hes ranked so high but I really think he can make a run.
  3. Has a TN kid ever won Tulsa?
  4. Ashton Davis (Cleveland/HCWC) 8th grade 145
  5. They absolutely did, and I promise I am not taking anything away from them. I don't know much about Settles but Tony is a stud so I truly didn't know how that match would turn out anyways but I felt like during the match Cody should have won but Tony came out on top and that's what mattered. Cody wrestled to Tony's strengths where he could use his athleticism and strength and that's not where Cody should be trying to take the match in my opinion.
  6. It definitely could have happened that way. All I was saying was that two Cleveland wrestlers had more points than the kid from Soddy at the time they got pinned. If that offends you I am sorry but it is a fact. They lost and that's what matters and they shouldn't have lost in my opinion.
  7. Cleveland is a lot better than they wrestled last night. We got pinned in 2 weight classes where we were winning at the time we got pinned so that right there is a pretty big swing in points if we win both of those matches. That takes Soddy down to 12 points. Im interested to see the Soddy vs. Bradley match. I think Bradley still has too much for them this year but it will definitely be closer than usual. But I think anyone that can say Cleveland isn't the team to beat for a state title this year needs to pay better attention.
  8. I heard both hurt and the older one could be done forever.
  9. I definitely think there are advantages to both AAU and TMSAA. Luckily here in Cleveland we are doing both and our season which ended this past saturday does not interfere with AAU unless you have kids wanting to travel out of state and to bigger, tougher tournaments. There is also rumor that they will be starting a TMSAA state duals tournament soon if enough teams are interested and commit to being there which has been the problem in the past because this can not be a club team it must be a true middle school team and there are so many different seasons for middle school wrestling here in Tennessee that it is hard to orchestrate. Unless TMSAA sets a start date and an end date that every school must follow which I think should be October-December then let the ones wrestle club that want to after that, it will be hard to organize a true duals state tournament. I would definitely check with the athletic director at the middle school as well as coaches and ADs at surrounding schools. You want to make sure that you have a conference to compete in first and foremost. Other than that there just has to be enough interest in your school but starting a program in my opinion will do nothing but grow interest in the school.
  10. Could be wrong but I believe that would be a typo
  11. You can not be on your toes trying to pin someone that is out of bounds. I was told that toes do not count as supporting points.
  12. Unless something happened Tristan Blansit from Cleveland is wrestling for Reinhardt
  13. And if Braxton is thought to be a contender at 106 then how would they both be at the same weight for the same school?
  14. Bodo wrestled 75 I believe last year at MS state. Unless he has grown a lot it will be hard for him to wrestle 106 this year.
  15. I don't think that's the case for either of those two because I have been around both of them and seen how hard they train but kids are growing. But I could be wrong, Noah did make close to 113 this past weekend so maybe he can make 115. Either way both are very tough kids.
  16. I would think Horst or Palmer, one of them will go 126. I just don't think that either of them can make 113 or 115 on a consistent basis
  17. Lemons has gotten a lot better from what I saw of him this summer but the group listed if they are all at this weight it's gonna be tough to break through for anyone else to medal.
  18. Wasn't it just talked about in the last post that Buckman from Halls is going 195 or is projected to?
  19. Boeck and Salvador was a close match last year in the quarters at the state tournament so if Boeck is back in that weight I definitely put him up there with Javi as a legit contender. Has Medina gotten big enough to go 220? But like you said other than that not sure who else to throw in there at this weight. Interesting to see if any new names show up but the jump from 195 to 220 is such a big gap that its hard unless kids just really grow its hard to make that jump in one year.
  20. Is there any weight class where one person is as heavily favored as Kramer is here at HWT?
  21. Coach Stoika is coming back to McMinn this year after announcing his retirement last year and they started a middle school team last year but yes once Stoika leaves they have to find a coach or the program will be done I would think. I truly think that they could have a successful program but there has to be support from the admin for that to happen.
  22. Who all is going to the qualifier this weekend?
