  1. Chattanooga area fan here. We have all kinds of respect for sasqatchie county, dacaff county, lowerwoman, and something county. Heck sasquatch beat the South Pittsburgh super team. We get more coverage of them than we do our own teams. The times free press is trying to boost subscriptions I guess. Anyways I am more than confident that this is the year that the purple make it through the quarterfinals and get their turn at losing to Alcoa by 40.
  2. I watched the whole game and gotta say the play by play was pretty solid. The game itself was a good one. East Ridge just needs to run more power formations with #32 and they might be able to make a run.If Dekalb had their QB tonight they would have won probably. In the end I thought the wasted timeouts by Dekalbs coach was what ended it.
  3. Haha yea I did. Gotta give credit to the Squatch. Good Game!!!
  4. I am calling it now . SC plays the worst game they will play all year tonight. Penalties will kill their momentum, and we are gonna see a lot of people on this thread complaining about the refs come Saturday. It's gonna be an ugly one tonight!!! Howard -21 Sequatchie County - 14
  5. Bathrooms that have not been renovated since the 60's.
  6. It is all about the gate money. Tennessee does not need 6 classifications, They do this because they know most parents are going to watch their kids play no matter who or where they are playing. So that is $8 or $16 per kid on the team. Say they have a little brother or sister, well sorry it's the playoffs still $8. Don't forget the grandparents for most kids, that is another $8 or $16. This formula works no matter how bad the teams are because these are HS kids who only get this chance once. The money is locked in. It is kinda sickening because you know they took this into account when deciding on this.
  7. Great stat work. It really highlights the money-grab that is going on here. To the one guy above that plays in the Alcoa region, your team is the exception. I have no problem with a team with a tough schedule sneaking into the playoffs with a 5-5 or 4-6 record. The problem is that too many teams are automatically granted playoff births due to the ridiculous classification system our state has. I read this morning about a team called Unaka that went 1-11 and made the playoffs. The kids elected to forfeit the game. If 123 teams made the playoffs that means at least 61 home games the TSSAA gets to collect attendance money for in the first round. I wouldn't be surprised if in the coming years they change it to where every team makes the playoffs no matter what their record is, and that double elimination is implemented to really squeeze out every dime.
  8. Notre Dame is going to win in this one 28-7. Losing the region championship last week will be a wake-up call for the Irish similar to they way they turned it around last year after they lost the region to East Ridge. I think we see a totally different team than the one that lost to Red Bank.
  9. Two things have to happen in this game for East Ridge to have a chance. 1. Moore (RB) has to carry the ball more than 25 times. 2. East Ridge must win the time of possession battle. If both of these things do not occur then Dekalb is going to win.
  10. I agree. You guys might be able to win your region this year.
  11. It has less to do with recruiting and more to do with flaws in the way rules are written . The best players play travel soccer or "select". This involves a year-round commitment from both the kids and parents. The best teams are often the one's that have the most experience playing and practicing with each other. A solid travel team can play together for almost 4 years before they enter high school. Private schools do not have the same restrictions as public schools when it comes to where a student lives. In the public system the school you attend will be based of the address you submit upon registration. Furthermore, it is rare for a student to attend one public school and play for another in sports. Because of these restrictions, finding lasting continuity among public school teams in team sports such as soccer is difficult. If a travel team wants to keep together for high school soccer the only answer is a private school. This factor is what gives private schools an advantage in competition with public schools in state championships.
  12. In the Chattanooga area Boyd, ND, and CCS are clearly above most other teams. ER is probably the strongest out of the rest of the city, but remember, they got knocked off by a Howard team that really only had a few good players last season. I haven't heard much about Hixon, but assume they are near the top of the standings in their division. ND beat Baylor the other day which is impressive. They get my vote for #1 A/AA team in the area.
  13. Was surprised to not see Upperman also. Maybe they were overshadowed by Dekalb Co. who the article says returns 18 starters.
  14. I was hoping you wouldn't notice what I did there. Its been a healthy rivalry if I say so myself. But the reason y'all weren't good back then is because you were having to compete with other private schools like McCallie and Baylor. You didn't have the multiplier trick remember. If the RB leaves then I wish the best for him. He has a lot of talent that should't go to waste because of turmoil among the staff and school. As for the playoff loss. We got to go out fighting against a really good team that we beat during the regular season. The game was lopsided at first, but our boys fought back and made it a game. Even though we lost I think everyone enjoyed the atmosphere, and we can never know how things would have turned out if the game was at East Ridge. I would much rather have that ending than the 42-2 game you guys experienced the next round against Alcoa.
  15. Booger I think you've been drinking too much of that Baileys Irish Creme Tim Jame's Career Record during his first tenure at East Ridge * Made Playoffs 2001: *10-2 including a 31-14 win over Notre Dame 2002: *7-4 including a 9-6 win over Notre Dame 2003: *5-6 including a 14-3 win over Notre Dame 2004:*5-6 2005:*6-5 2006: 4-6 2007: 4-6 He was not perfect, but he did have a solid run for a few seasons. The losing seasons were a result of trying to run a veer offence with kids who had never even heard of the system. He left because he had a better opportunity to coach at Heritage, and build that program from the ground up. And what happened to Malone was outside of anyone's control. To imply he was ran out simply isn't true. But don't worry, no matter who the head coach is Traneil Moore is gonna run for 200 plus on you guys next season. You better start saving up that booster $$$ to get the game switched to the turf at Finley again.
  16. A good choice would be the current defensive coordinator. This team's defense was stout last season. I have heard James mentioned, as well as speculation on Helton (Whitwell). As a fan I wouldn't be opposed to either of them. Whoever gets the job will need to take charge asap. This team has a ton of potential, but nothing is guaranteed. Two years ago they were picked to win the region, but finished 3-7. Last season they were picked near last and ended up undefeated. Confidence is everything, and if the team can keep the chemistry they found last season they should do fine.
