  1. Thanks! I'm a struggling middle school ISS teacher so I'm looking for more on the free side lol I contacted Diamond Clear Media about covering wresting as they already cover 11 schools in other sports, two of those being Heritage and Halls.
  2. Are there any websites or broadcasts that teams use to stream their matches online? I have seen a few people post links to live matches but I haven't seen any that upload those matches for later viewing? Diamond Clear Media is a great platform but they only cover football and basketball, does anyone know of any other similar sites for wrestling?
  3. It made more sense when regions were more concrete and didn't change as rapidly. It's hard to say "South Doyle/Central gets to host this year because Farragut host last year" when Farragut isn't even in 5A anymore.
  4. I think this may be the best game in the area this Friday, I pick South Doyle but in a much closer game than last time.
  5. 8 for 8!!! I am walking into work this morning feeling like I am an expert! lol This quarterfinal round will be more difficult to predict though as I feel like they could all go either way.
  6. Going down the line for all 8 Games: Knox Central over Sevier County South Doyle over Halls Oak Ridge over Knox West Knox Catholic over Fulton Summit over Page Beech over Hillsboro Henry County over Munford Brighton over Southwind
  7. I agree about Oak Ridge! With AC and Clinton recently starting programs a few years ago, I can't imagine it will be too much longer before we have wrestling at OR and CC.
  8. They are both in the prep-extra area and used to wrestle every year. If they did last year, who came out on top?
  9. Although they are not really known for their wrestling program, Fulton High School has probably won more total state championships in the last 15 years when combining ALL sports between football, basketball, and track etc. than any other school in Tennessee (no research done- just know they have won multiple in each- so I apologize if I am wrong). I have heard that Fulton's Athletic director tells his coaches to encourage their athletes to play as many sports as possible, and I personally have heard him say that he wishes every athlete would play 3 sports each- one in the fall, one in the winter, and one in the spring. I know they have phenomenal athletes and amazing coaches, but I believe this type of mindset from the administration has to have played a large part in their school's athletic success across multiple sports.
  10. I would expect for GIbbs to have a big impact on A/AA this year!
  11. I watched your football team play last week and noticed a lot of really big guys that could move pretty well on that offensive line. Tell Coach to send two or three of them to the wrestling room after school and you guys should be able to find a solid heavy weight to fill that slot!
  12. What was the score the last time you two played and where did that fall on the time line for central and their injuries?
  13. I agree with you, but to be fair, I believe any region would have struggled with those four. You could say region 4 struggled, as Catholic was the only team to make it past the 1st round.
  14. We have heard all year about how bad Region 2 is this season yet they somehow managed to sweep Region 1 this past Friday. Are these teams better than people are giving them credit or are they just lucky in seeding? Either way- who is going to win this Friday between Sevier County vs. Central and Halls vs. South Doyle? And who wins the following week to advance to the semifinals? ....OR does nobody even care about this bracket because everyone is assuming this winner will get killed in the semi finals anyways? My Prediction: Central over Sevier County, South Doyle over Halls, then South Doyle over Central next week.
  15. I think SC will win tonight but I wouldn't call them a lock in for the semi's. In fact, I could see 3 possible teams from that side of the bracket making it to the semifinals and I don't think they are even one of those 3.
  16. Are these your top teams or top teams based off of rankings?
  17. This is an example of why I believe BC, Cleveland, Soddy and ALL the other Chattanooga area teams will always be on top: Your young guys are already out there on the mat competing, while in Knoxville our middle school sign-ups were Monday after school. Don't get me wrong, this is not a knock on any Knoxville program in any way; I am just recognizing the difference in the wrestling culture of the Chattanooga are compared to the rest of the state. But with that being said, congrats to BB Middle!!!
  18. This game would be my pick for the most exciting game in 5A for round 1. Granted I am one of the few people left who still appreciate good hard fought defensive battles. I'll take Rhea County 9-7.
  19. My apologies, I didn't see many fans hesitant to throw names out on the boards for each weight class, so I guess I'll have to spend a couple of hours piecing those together instead. Question though- Why is the starting line up such a secret in high school wrestling? Football has the Murphy's Fair magazine every year that has almost every school in the state listing their projected starters from the pre-season and I am sure baseball and basketball have something similar; College sport teams release their starting line ups to the media on a weekly basis- So I am just curious, why is this such a secret?

    195AAA

I heard from a very reliable source this weekend that Buckman from Knox Halls will be at 195 this year and Harp will be going to 220 for the red devils.
  21. What are the potential starting line ups for these teams this year? I understand a lot can change between now and February, and I am fully aware teams often "bump" wrestlers in duals, however I think it would be very interesting to see how teams are looking to line up from 106 to 285 for the 17-18 season. If there are any coaches, teachers, parents, or fans of schools like Cleveland, Bradley Central, Science Hill, Beech, Soddy, Heritage, Arlington, TN High, Wilson Central, Knox Halls or any of the other schools that have been mentioned, could you please give us casual fans your potential starting line up so we can start looking at big match ups coming this season!
  22. Aside from guessing who will win where there is an easily predictable #1 and #2, which weight classes are the most wide open? Whether you want to call them the toughest weight classes or the softest, what weights truly have 3, 4 or even 5 kids that could come out on top?
  23. Being that Aaron Douglas (A Maryville High School football standout) is his profile picture, I am going to guess that the Alcoa heavyweight, another blount county big man, is committed to wrestle at UTC
