  1. I have not seen Summertown play. I see they are giving up 17.5 points per game and that includes a double overtime game. But I know the coach and you can be certain the Summertown defense will be prepared. Waverly may win but if you think there is no chance they lose, you would be mistaken. By the way, I played for Waverly 1967-70.
  2. I have no idea who is right and who is wrong in this case. The TSSAA may make all the rules, but they do not come out of this unscathed. At the very least they will have a lot of questions to answer and unfortunately for them, they will be answered in public.
  3. If a game official made this comment any time before Fayetteville was notified then there are a number of people who have a number of questions to answer. Not only that , if that is the case it is very hard to suggest that this is not a witch hunt by someone.
  4. My question is: "What caused the TSSAA to change its mind and decide the player was ineligible after having sent the Sept. 6 letter stating he was eligible?". If Fayetteville did not give all the facts or misrepresented facts that is one thing, but if no facts changed and the TSSAA is simply responding to a complaint from some other school, then that is another thing. I dare say that any school could come up with a complaint about any other school and try to get them disqualified for the playoffs. I agree with Friday Main Event - the bus route argument is bogus.
  5. As usual you have given a good analysis. There are still meaningful games to play for every team and those teams must show up and play. Exciting time of year.
  6. If Columbia Academy beats Fayette then in all probability USJ is 3rd. For USJ to be 2nd Fayette has to beat both DA and CA.
  7. Six from the West Six from the East Top 2 teams from each have a bye the first playoff week
  8. You are very welcome. It was great to meet you and I look forward to future games between our teams. Good luck to the Lions for the rest of the year and particularly good wishes for your recovery. Our prayer is that you will be pain free soon.
  9. Our prayers as well for successful procedure.
  10. ReitzFan, please contact me (CABacker) if you can. I have tried to contact you but have not figured out all that I need to do to accomplish that feat. I am old and not well versed in technology.
  11. Lol at Humboldt coaches They came dressed in matching blazers pants and shirts thinking they were ready for pictures. Yep with a silver ball! CA killed them. 76-60
  12. Fayetteville will win this game. Winning at Clay Co. was no fluke.
  13. Nor do I have a dog in this fight nor do I have blinders but you must have if you could not see the blatant cheating by that officiating crew. It was ridiculous. A team cannot overcome that type officiating regardless of how good the team is
  14. In this case it is not an excuse. I am by all definitions unbiased in this but clearly the white hat gave this game to Whitwell. It was ridiculous and that guy should read James chapter 3. These refs who cheat will be held accountable
  15. I agree. The officials won this game for Whitwell. Ridiculous!! I am really not for either team but I like to see a fair game. That referee should never be allowed to ref again
  16. No, If Riverside and CA win, then CA hosts. See official brackets
  17. Just an observation. Scoring a lot of points in a game this year is much more difficult because of the changes TSSAA made relative to the clock. The game has been shortened because there is much less time stoppage for first downs. (This has to do with the change to the 40 second play clock.) If you will note, the referees have been told this year to restart the clock even if the chains have not been set. In fact, several times they have restarted even before the ball is spotted. TSSAA intentionally wanted to shorten the game and they have done so. Therefore, scoring a lot of points in a game where you have strong defenses is going to be tough. That said, this contributes to closer games. As I said, just an observation.
  18. Lance Wilhoite and another key player were not available to FRA in the South Gibson game
  19. My point is this: Suppose Region 1 is perennially weak and the champ is therefore weaker than at least the top three teams in Regions 2. If in the year Region 2 is supposed to host the third place team in Region 2 beats the first place team in Region 2 in the second round. It would be unfair if that team had to travel. In your scenario it is possible that a weaker team would host every year simply because they won a very weak region. ( This assumes that a team upsets the 1 seed of the opposite region in the years it would have hosted.)
