  1. Oh wow. Had no idea this would still be getting so much attention almost 2 weeks after the fact. As a Lausanne supporter, do I wish the game was played somewhere else? Absolutely, because that would have given them a better chance to win. Do I think CPA wet down their field to make it worse? That thought didn’t even cross my mind. I was at the game. The entire campus was soaked, and the stadium sits in the lowest part of campus which made the field even worse. Yes, the field hurt Lausanne more than it hurt CPA, but at the end of the day they both played on it. Both teams are towards the top in the entire state and neither would get blown out by any team in any division.
  2. Going to try my best not to get at the field too much because I know that is just my biased view of the game. It no doubt affected the way Lausanne likes to play, but both teams had to deal with it so the field is a wash. I think on turf Lausanne is the winner by a TD, but like BreadTruck said that’s what Lausanne likes and CPA likes a game in the mud so there’s no real perfect medium. Have to play in the conditions dealt. After watching Lausanne all season and a little CPA, then watching the game last night, I am not so sure that those aren’t the best two teams in the state, regardless of classification. I know that is a big jump and I admittedly haven’t seen a ton on every team statewide. But those are two extremely tough, talented, well-coached teams. Recruiting services have Patterson and Gray ranked 7 and 8 in the state, respectively. I believe you would be hard pressed to find a better two than that. Gray was unable to show his full skill set off last night but I have seen it all year. And Patterson is an absolute stud in the middle of the defense. I don’t remember a LB better than him in recent memory. Side note, shoutout to CPA. Very gracious and accommodating hosts. Heard lots of complimentary stuff from them about the Lynx following the game. Good luck in a couple of weeks, I think CPA wins big. Man, I wish we could just get a rematch of this one for the championship.
  3. Didn’t realize Ingle was the QB of that squad, very interesting fact! Good luck tonight, BreadTruck. As I said in the other thread, I’m just hoping for a great injury free game that I hope the Lynx can pull out!
  4. Welp gameday is upon us. Hoping for an injury free game that doesn’t disappoint the hype. Going to go with my hometown Lynx but it won’t be easy. 34-31
  5. Pull them up if you’d like, and I may eat crow and be remembering incorrectly, but I believe I said that there was only 1 starter from PCA, which was true. This go around there aren’t any contributors.
  6. No love for the Lynx this week I see! I get it though, everyone likes to see some change up. First to address the co-op issue again, which I’m sure no one will listen to once again. Two years ago, Lausanne co-oped with Power Center until the TSSAA changed the rule and shut that down. Lausanne has had a co-op agreement with Bowie in every sport for a long while, as they do not offer any athletics programs. However, very few students who attend Bowie play for Lausanne in ANY sport and to my knowledge none play football. And I know for sure that even if there are 1 or 2 that play, all contributors on their team do indeed go to school there. I know ol’ Boog will continue spewing the co-opin nonsense but just wanted to try and set the record straight once again. Anyways, to the important matters. There is no doubt in my mind that the field will play a huge role in Friday nights game. As it’s been said already, CPA definitely has speed as well. However, they are not generally trying to make those hard cuts on a dime when running the ball. This is what has made Lausanne so special the past couple of years. They have had players able to make you miss with a couple of quick moves then make big plays. It will be hard to do that Friday night. I figure it will be pretty tough sledding for both teams. I think it’s safe to say that Lausanne has the advantage in the run game and CPA has the advantage in the pass game. I think whichever team’s “weaker” offensive attack is able to have more success will decide the winner and send one of these 2 teams to Cookeville. P.S. I certainly hate that this match up is taking place in the semis rather than the championship.
  7. On one side, you have a matchup that not many people expected to see here in the semis and on the other you’ve got a matchup that some thought we would see in the championship last season. Gonna sit on predictions til later in the week, but I expect both to be very good games.
  8. I think BA wins the rematch and MUS takes care of business with McCallie.
  9. I agree that ECS is very underrated. I actually believe they are the 3rd best team in the division. How they lost to St. George’s still doesn’t make much sense to me. My guess is St. George’s was able to pass the ball effectively, which is where ECS struggles on defense. Lausanne will have to throw it well Friday night as they did in the first meeting. I predict a 10-14 point win for Lausanne.
  10. Not expecting this to be very close. Houston has not played anyone very difficult while Whitehaven has played one of the toughest schedules in the state. Whitehaven wins handily, setting up the rematch that everyone wants next week.
  11. Don’t think it will be much of a challenge for CPA. St. George’s is not very good this year and CPA should dominate upfront. St. George’s does have some weapons offensively in the pass game, but I don’t expect them to get loose vs that defense. CPA wins this one with an early running clock.
  12. Thinking it will be a good one. St. George’s handled them easily in the first match up, but has not been impressive at all since then. If their offense is clicking and the QB making throws, they can be hard to beat, like how they were able to beat ECS. If Harding can get their run game going, they definitely have a chance in the rematch. I went with Harding strictly because I think they are playing better more recently. It will likely be a long drive home from Nashville for either team next weekend.
  13. Very good up front with 2 big physical backs. However, they don’t appear to have any passing game or big play ability. They get 3-4 yards at a time, so if they have no gain or a loss on a play then they are in trouble. It’s hard, IMO, to go down the field in high school like that without making a mistake. The opening drive against Lausanne, they were actually driving the ball really well but fumbled when they got around the Lausanne 30. After that they had difficulty getting much going. Watched the Harding game also, which was much of the same.
  14. ECS has beaten both Webb and BGA this year, and played Lausanne to their closest game (42-34) outside of Whitehaven. They’ve also lost to St. George’s and had a couple of games that were closer than they probably should have been. Seems like they may be a bit inconsistent. However, if they show up ready to play, that could make for an interesting match up in round 2.
  15. Not so sure CPA over Lausanne in the semis would “shock the world”. Before Patterson unfortunately got hurt last year, that’s the match up I was really looking forward to (no offense Boog). Obviously both have had great seasons thus far. Hopefully we’ll get to see it this year. Could see either Webb or FRA making a deep run though which might qualify as a shock.
  16. Quarters Lausanne ECS CPA Harding ND FRA BGA Webb Semis Lausanne CPA ND BGA Championship Lausanne ND Champions Lausanne
  17. Lausanne will not be going all boys. That’s a stretch to put out there even for you Boog. I would guess that Lausanne has looked at the likes of Ensworth, BA, MUS, etc. Schools that have been successful in athletics while keeping their academic standard. Not sure why doing it in AA makes it wrong while AAA means it’s ok.
  18. Obviously biased, but I think Lausanne is the better team. (Admittedly I’ve only seen Germantown once this year). Sky Forrest is one of the best QBs in the city and nobody knows about him because of Eric Gray. Though it hasn’t been shown, that offense is extremely balanced and can do great things in both the run and pass game. Defensively they have plenty of guys who have been starting for 3-4 years and have tons of experience. The biggest issue with Lausanne is their depth. Their starters can play with anyone in the state but if a couple of guys were to get an injury it would be rough to overcome.
  19. Hate that we can’t see some sort of Germantown, Lausanne, and MUS showdowns this year. Does Germantown have much more talent than from a couple of years ago or have those kids bought into the system more now? Certainly seems they have done a great job getting that program back to how they used to be.
  20. Most games I have seen this year I’ll agree with what pigskinred said. I think the shortage of refs is just putting a lot of below average officials on the fields. Though I haven’t seen a ton of Whitehavens games, the one I did see this year was vs Lausanne, and if anyone believes for a second that Whitehaven didn’t get EVERY “close” call then they are lying to themselves. Watching that certainly made it look like they wanted Whitehaven to win for whatever reason.
  21. I think Whitehaven wins this in a low scoring affair. 13-7 or something like that. Maybe I’m completely wrong, but that’s what I’ll go with!
