GC is thankful to get there. It's been a wild year, but up there...anything can happen. We know from experience. Hope the Boro is a packed house, everyone has safe travels, and every player comes out of it healthy. At the end of the day, it's a game played by teenagers who will never forget these types of moments in their life. Go Lady Pioneers!

I believe Macon County is the favored to win AA and WV is in the next tier down (along with Upperman & Nolensville). It'd be nice to see WV get another one, if they can take care of business on Saturday and get there.....again. Macon County is a very good basketball team, but I believe WV is very concentrated on Covington right now.

Kind of surprised by the last couple of games played by Covington, with the OT win and their loss to Melrose...Westview is playing better defense than anyone in the State in AA and they have been fully healthly over a month now. I think WV is too much for them, especially at home. The Martin faithful truly believe that if Callins would've been healthy all year, they'd be 32-0 right now along with their interior post play. I am starting to concur based upon their performances over the last month.

After watching Greenfield & Gibson County (again) tonight, if I had a vote for 1A Ms. Basketball...it'd be Chloe Moore. I don't know how many assists she had tonight, on top of her leading all scoring category, but she makes everyone on her team better.

No complaints from me on Greenfield holding the ball. I think we only put 9 points on the board in the 2nd half. When you're down, you have to take the fight to the one that's ahead and the clock is not our friend in that situation. Pick your poison...foul which one? If we can't get shots off and score for 7 minutes in the 3rd, it's a pretty easy way to finish the game and move on to the next. Let's go to Memphis and get a W and then try to figure out the next one.

Both are great players and I believe are great people, but Chloe Moore is a flat out baller. If I had a vote for 1A Ms. Basketball, I'd vote for Chloe. Darby is a great player and I'm not disrespecting her, but Chloe makes everyone better on that floor and with her passing/dishing the ball tonight....she makes a lot of average players look very good.

Well let me respond. I have family in Martin and my team is Gibson County. One of the reasons I guess I'm partial to WV is that no matter if they win or lose, they're always respectful and congratulatory. So my younger nieces have played in their program over the years. I also appreciate what Coach McNeal has done for Jackson South Side basketball. In the last several years of interacting with the WV fanbase and watching them, it appears to me that they play each part of a season in very different styles. When they go up tempo, they can fill it up in a hurry. I think it's a misconception about how WV can play and when they turn it loose, it's a very fast paced game. No doubt, I think Jackson SS will be the team next year in AA in our area and Coach McNeal is an awesome coach. He is great for those girls and it shows. Congrats on your season and look forward to watching SS again next year. Currie-Jelks should dominate.

That was just the student body ....no one really believes that Greenfield is overrated from the adults in the gym. Great game. Y'all have an awesome team and are the front runners to win it all. Congrats on going wire-to-wire during the regular season at #1 as well.

Congrats to Greenfield on the Region championship. Hats off to for the participation of Macy getting to score the 1st 2 points of the game. That was a class move and was appreciated. I was pleased with our effort and anytime you play a stacked team like that, you just have to take your lumps and appreciate the caliber of players you're playing against. Hopefully, we'll go to Memphis and then meet y'all at the Boro next week. Co-MVPs Chloe Moore and Tess Darby are great basketball players and we'll all be glad when they're off to college, but even in this loss...their game should be appreciated. Great atmosphere as well for a small town high school basketball game.

You've always been a straight shooter on your post and I know what I've observed over the last decade in watching Westview (4-7 times a year), but I want an honest opinion from an observer of the game last night. Outside of not being very deep on the bench, how good is Westview at the uptempo game? Some of my martin friends I talked to today said they were kind of surprised when Westview came out in the 1st quarter and played that way, but the WV press gave SS some problems. What's your take? Also, they said to be such a physical game, both teams were respectful to each other and picking each other up. Good sportsmanship too.

Sounded like a fast paced, up and down, very physical game. SS should win their district next year comfortably with the team and the injured coming back.

So Westview holds SS to 41 (tied for season low) and the score is closer than you thought it'd be? For real?? I thought this would be a 7-10 point game on a neutral court and at one time WV was 25 up.

I cant attest to his feelings and was just using the term "beef" regarding the running up the score comment. I heard him on the radio a couple of weeks ago talking about how he doesn't like getting the game over 35 and the running clock. Over the games I've watched Westview play the last 20 years....it seems Westview gets more primed up for Dyersburg and Jackson South Side. During the regular season at a Westview game, it actually gets kind of routine and not that hyped. I figure Westview & Jackson SS on a neutral court would benefit SS in this matchup, but with a full healthy WV..I don't think that'll be enough this year. Should be a good hard fought game.

C'mon man. 55-9 is not running up the score, it's Milan's inability to score. I don't Westview has any "beef" with the Lady Bulldog program. If Milan could only muster 9 points, an 80 something to 9 would be a run up.

Great win for our girls. I'm glad we're getting to play Greenfield again, win or lose. At times during this season, I didn't know if we could get to the championship with the inexperience and injuries but we made it!! Met a lot of Greenfield folks tonight and you have a special group of girls. Next year, the talent levels will get a little closer for the district. After the 1st quarter football game between Dresden & Greenfield, Greenfield took over. That referee crew let them play early. We're thankful to have a chance to get back to the Boro....Wilkins finds a way. Congrats to UC on a great season and I expect them to be battling next year for the top district spot.

I'd have to agree with you on your points. If Haskins would've pressed out of the gate, it'd been a running clock. I thought he might have been trying to save his team's legs for the next matchup and of the WV games I've watched this year, usually the press begins in the 1st quarter not the 2nd half. I can respect the fact that WV could've put a running clock on SH, but didn't. I don't think SH actually scored a basket in the 3rd quarter. I've never seen a coach in tournament play call that many time outs in a such a short period of time either as SH's did last night. Good luck against SS. It should be a good game.

In my observation, it looked like he was working on something in the first half on offense involving a lot of "pick and roll". Scotts Hill shot the ball well all night, but in the 2nd half they just couldn't get open. I believe SH took 4 timeouts in the first 4 minutes of the 3rd quarter, but by that time the game was effectively over.

I went an watched Westview and Scotts HIll tonight. 25-25 at the half. My take on the game....WV played conservative the 1st half, Scotts HIll probably shot the ball at a clip of 60-70 percent first half and I was impressed by the shooters, and WV kicked the defense in to gear in the 2nd half and held them to I believe 6 points. Westview didn't run too much tonight and the WV and South Side game should be a barn burner.

Crockett County beats McNairy tonight. A very well-coached team and they usually don't have 2 bad back-to-back games. Not very often.

After a terrible first quarter, we played some Gibson County basketball the next 3. We got hot on the outside and it started raining threes. Good game Lady Pioneers...on to the next.
