    MUS-MBA

By the way Eagles09....Last year MUS's defense did stop your running game....twice that year. And MUS's offense ran all over Brentwoods defense. So stop with all this we're the best until you guys prove something. You keep talkin about who's won ths most state titles, but that means nothing in the present. Hopefully you'll grow up...I know coach Flatt doesnt coach kids like you...

    MUS-MBA

Based on what I know, (which isnt much as I have been unable to keep up with HS football too much this year) is MUS does have the upper hand. MUS's defense is by far one of the strongest in the state having returned nearly everybody from last year. Offense could be suspect but so far has proven all critics wrong. Teams they have played are sub-par but putting up 90 points in your first 2 games is not shabby guys. My only concern is the replacements at runningback. Although they had heydays at times in the air last year, they complemented it well with two quality runningbacks. And running on MBA has always been a hard task in my opinion. They must establish a running game to win this one. However, I still believe MUS pulls this early season showdown off. MUS by 7.
  3. CBHS 3-1. The big field goes to the advantage for CBHS. They are on a roll right now and don't look to be stopped.
  4. Picks went well this time with a little scare there between Mccallie and Father Ryan. But after seeing the semi-finals heres my last prediction: CBHS vs. Father Ryan - 3-1. CBHS is on a roll right now. They destroyed a decent MBA team. They destroyed a quality BGA team. And now its a question of who is next in line and it happens to be Father Ryan. I liked this matchup early on but seeing as how CBHS is playing right now I just can't see them being stopped. Again I am emphasizing that they have too many quality players than others can handle. They are attacking like they are not going to get another chance and they will do the same on Saturday. Good luck to both teams!
  5. Who said I was making excuses? I was actually there to watch Houston-Bearden and wandered over to the CBHS-BGA and MUS-Mccallie games afterwards. So before we start assuming things lets get the facts straight. I thought both teams played horrible and would of been beaten by Father Ryan if they played like that again. You are trying to prove some point that in non-existent. It was crap soccer on both teams' parts and thats it. Good try though.
  6. I agree that this the comments made were unnecessary but from what I did see at the game was not impressive, on either side really. MUS played kickball also. It's a shame to see some great players not be able to play when it counts but irregardless MUS did not play the way they have all year. Maybe that has something to do with their star player out but its still not an excuse. On another note, Mccallie did not impress me either. They didn't construct an attack very well and seemed almost lost at times on defense. Maybe they were weary from the trip but that did not look like a time that could beat Father Ryan, CBHS, or even ECS. If the same team comes out against father ryan I could not imagine them winning; however I keep reiterating USN's state finals run last year as prove of just finding ways to win when it counts. Overall the game was pretty lackluster and boring. Maybe it was injured players, maybe it was just a bad day for both teams. I often found myself watchin CBHS punish MBA instead of watching this pretty slow, boring game.
  7. Well so far so good on my picks...but of course with some goal differential. Semi-final: Father Ryan Vs. Mccallie. Ryan 2-0. Mccallie did not impress me AT ALL. Granted they played their game and beat MUS, but I believe MUS at full strength beats them 2 or 3-0. Thats my opinion however. Father Ryan did what I expected them to do except concede a goal. Even though Ryan lost to Mccallie earlier in the season they are still the better team and will revenge and punish mccallie for their earlier loss. BGA vs. CBHS. CBHS 3-1. I wouldn't call BGA beating Catholic an upset but for them to beat CBHS would. BGA has talented players but not enough to undermine CBHS. CBHS manhandled MBA with their counterattack and should do the same against BGA. Too much speed and too many talented players.
  8. Ive got Father Ryan over ECS 2-0 Father Ryan is just too much for ECS. ECS does not have a "go to" type player in times of need and Father Ryan will punch their ticket with a second goal late in 2nd half MUS Vs. Mccallie...Hard to tell MUS has some injuries that I'm not sure about. Especially #10 who has proven to be a big time player in big time games. I don't know too much about mccallie except they've got some goal scorers which could prove to be the deciding factor, especially concerning MUS's injury status. Who knows though, MUS may have had just some banged up players that are back. I actually have BGA over Knoxville Catholic in a close one. I'll say 1-0. I know BGA has some goalscorers that can play in big games. I don't know too much about Catholic either; however they do have a history of playing well in the state tournament so this is also a toss up game. CBHS over MBA 2-0. CBHS has too much talent and too many quality goal scorers for MBA to upset the #1 seed from the West. Plus CBHS has been here on numerous occasions and have the senior leadership. However note last year(USN upset) where a team with not much talk upsets a couple of teams and goes all the way. Hopefully I am not totally wrong and make an idiot out of myself. Best of luck to all the teams. I am definitely going to catch every game possible.
  9. germantown plays blackman.....houston vs bearden i believe
  10. Wouldnt you rather them do really well and make your team look good?
  11. Like you did this year when you said the exact same thing??
  12. I definitely agree however alot of people are putting Cordova instead of Germantown High. I actually believe Germantown will be advancing instead of Cordova.
  13. Jomito makes a great point. Many upsets happen, especially in high school, in the state tournament. That's what makes it so great. Take USN and MUS last year, both #3 seeds in the state final. High schools state is so great because its not really like club where every player is skilled and knows the tactics of the game. It comes down to determination, heart, etc.(with a little bit of skill however). I enjoy every year just to see what teams actually make it all the way.
  14. These are unfortunate circumstances. Thats what is tought about high school soccer i guess. I Would think BGA should finish off BA to get in the tournament. Looks like some #1 seed is gona have a tougher game than anticipated due to the upset.
  15. All region from the west(players worth mentioning btw): Jon Ring-ECS Midfielder Phillip Ramsey -CBHS Forward Ryan Freebing -MUS Defender Kane Alber -MUS midfielder Grany Shopoff -CBHS midfielder Caleb Bogan- CBHS defender And then both keepers from CBHS and MUS: Ben Tacker(MUS)/ Evan Griffin(CBHS) All these players are the realisitc choices for all state from the West Division. The keepers from both CBHS and MUS however did not get picked all region which was a bunch of crap where apparently someone thought it would be nice and choose a below .500 team and give their keeper the nod. Very wrong in my opinion. All have great shots at getting selected but Alber is the only question mark due to an injury he sustained against ECS in the region semifinal.
  16. CBHS wins 3-1. Tough one for MUS as they already were missing a key midfielder and lost some defenders to injuries during the game. Not to mention a controversial red card(not exactly sure what for). CBHS did a great job of capitalizing. Was a great game though until all the drama happened as MUS came out early with a 1-0 lead and CBHS battled back to tie 1-1 but the man down and injuries were too much for MUS as CBHS pretty much cruised to a 3-1 victory. Should be 2 fun teams to watch in the state tournament provided MUS gets healthy though.
  17. I dont see any MUS players or fans bragging about winning. But you shouldnt play this shouldve/wouldve/couldve game. You still lost 3-0 but you keeping making excuses. Contractor is right, maybe you shouldve brought more players. All I am saying is stop making excuses and just play. Prove yourself that way instead of saying we shouldve done this or that.
  18. I definitely agree. You can complain all you want but you are out of the tournament completely. As for the bad calls, great teams still win regardless of what happens. Listen to Nick Forte you sore loser.
  19. Oh I am sorry...They only won 3-0, and let's complain about not having starters or something. Stop making excuses and play the game. MY god get over yourself.
  20. Although I have been into high school for some years now, I haven't really received much knowledge about Notre Dame. Mostly because I guess I haven't seen them in the state tournament much? Have they always been a solid program, but just couldn't make it to the state tournament?

    Rainer

I am definitely going to have to disagree with you. Ok, maybe he didn't stop every shot but what happened at the end of the game? MUS WON! That's what a goalie is supposed to do: stop enough to let his team win. Now he does get alot of talk and rightly he should. On most cases he is a very solid goalkeeper; but nobody is perfect so we all have had our bad games. This might have been the case in this game but he is still a very good keeper and has been for some time now, otherwise he wouldn't have been playing at the level he is at now. Sorry if he disappointed you but I wish you could see him day in and day out; he is a very solid goalie.

    scores?

MUS wins 10-9 McCallie wins 9-2 I believe? MUS game was intense from what i hear. Don't want to take away any stories so I'll let them post game summaries.
  23. I definitely have to agree with Ben Tacker at goal. The past two years for MUS he has been a key element in their state championship runs. I can remember two years ago when he pretty much won them the quarter and semi finals in the PK shootouts. Had a rough start this year I know but since then has been very good. He is very solid all around and makes few mistakes.
  24. No contest. Houston should win big. Proved it last time, and will prove it this time. C'ville's team falls on a certain center mid and he doesn't have enough to beat an entire skilled houston squad.
  25. These are all really good suggestions as to fixing the problem with seedings in tournaments and such; however, the problem is(like it is with pretty much all sport-seeding) that whatever system that is put together always seems to be ridiculed. Look at the BCS or something for football, even after drastic changes that were thought to be satisfactory, people still seem to argue over what should be done. Same with the NCAA basketball tournament and just about everything else. My point is that whatever will happen or is happening will always be under constant bickering like we are doing now. I wish there a magic system that always worked but really nothing is perfect. Some systems help other teams while some would prefer a different system that gives the advantage to their own. Just my two cents worth.
