Tough way for a freshman QB to start his career, Haywood then Beech, but you're the starting QB at Henry Co, that's why you are there, to beat good teams. I think this will be a great learning experience for the rookie & I do believe HC keeps it close, but Beech comes out on top here.

After seeing what Haywood was able to do with Henry Co, its hard to go against them. After graduating so many, I think we all thought it might be some type of rebuilding year, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Hopefully Northside is healthy and at full strength so we can what these 2 are all about. I'll take Haywood by 14.

I hear GC's defense is pretty stout this year, but that Westview offense is looking pretty good. May be low scoring , but expect WV to pull this one out!

Is Crockett down that bad this year? Can't be, surely not? Ward will get his boys right this week & they definitely will play better this week, but Lake Co. is the real deal. Lake County takes this one, maybe Crockett can keep it close this week, maybe....

The Westview Chargers start the season off yet again with the hated in-county rival Dresden Lions. The Chargers have not won this match up since 2014. Is this year the year they get back on track and go back to winning this rivalry like the days of old or can Dresden keep their winning streak alive? Haven't heard a whole lot out of the Dresden camp this offseason. 2 new head coaches at the helm for this rivalry, who ya got?

Westview's offense is very talented. We all know what the Simpson kid can do and they should be able to protect him up front. Simpson has a few playmakers to get the ball to as well. I question their defense. In this region you've got to be physical and play D. Will be very interesting to see how their season plays out. Can they win this region, No, but they may be able to sneak into the playoffs.

If Hayes plays Covington definitely can win this game, without him I don't know. Munford is a tough squad. Gotta love a good in-county rivalry game to start the year!

GC wins this game big. Obion moving to the spread sounds like a bad move. Normally not a very athletic team, but usually decent size up front. I think they were better off in the option offense they'd been running.

The conversation we should be having is "who will finish 2nd in this region". Unless Lake County is hit with some major injuries, they should easily win this region. Their non region games will be much tougher than their region games! Could be a big year!

The cupboard is still full over there at Trenton Peabody, going to be tough to keep them from winning this region and possibly repeating as state champs!

I know UTM didn't have the greatest season this year, but is there speculation that he might be let go? I feel like he's done a pretty good job in his time there, has been a little while since they one the OVC though, but this would definitely be a game changer if the young QB goes else where.

How's Bo been at Giles County? No question he would be a great QB to learn from, but can he coach?

I hear Barker is interested, but administration isn't wanting to give the job to anyone currently on staff. They are truly wanting to make a splash and get rid of what's been there in the past.

Lifsey is a great ball coach, but no way he wants the stress of coaching again, especially at the high school level. I'm sure he'll have a big hand in picking the new head man for this job though.

No way Don Coady returns, I'm sure the Westview faithful would love that after the downfall of the program the last few years, but no way he makes that move. Kevin Ward would be a familiar option that I'm sure they'd love as well, but going to be hard to move him from Crockett Co. One thing is for sure, with Simpson at QB, its going to be a job people start lining up for.

Ripley & Millington actually scrimmaged once in the spring & once in the fall. The scrimmages were competitive, but ultimately Ripley did win both scrimmages. Both teams I'm sure have improved since then so not sure if you can hold much stock in those scrimmages.

Anybody know anything about Fairley?

Memphis East may be the worst team in TN right now after watching them last week. Moving down will definitely be a big help to them. Crazy how far they've fallen off in the last 2-3 years.

Game of the week for sure! Hard to see GC not getting into the playoffs after the unforeseen season they've had so far. The season just won't mean as much without a berth into the playoffs. I think they pull it out in what's sure to be a playoff atmosphere!
