We have played both of these teams. I am taking covington in this contest. If I were and odds maker I would say covington - 3.5. Covington - 31 Crockett - 27

Congrats to Covington. You guys played a perfect a game and really really made SGC pay for its mistakes with the ball. Your not going to win any football games when you go -3 in the turnover margin. SGC gifted Covington with 3 extra possessions as if they needed it! Covington, like good teams do really made SGC pay for its mistakes. 3 turnovers = 21 points for Covington. If you take those out of the equation or Covington has a few turnovers the score is not so one sided. I still think the chargers win the game but it would have been a lot closer than the score board says. SGC was able to move the ball on the defense of the chargers. This one does sting a little but its OK SGC still has a ton to play for and the real season starts in a few weeks. SGC MUST find a cure for the turnover bug that has moved into town. SGC along with Milan and Bolivar have locked themselves in the playoffs. 1- Covington, 2 and 3 Milan or SGC 4 Bolivar. Crockett will absolutely have its hands full when they play the chargers next week. Im not a fan of trash talk or unsportsmanlike action on a football field. Things got a little nasty towards the end of the game. I hope both teams put that to bed permanently. Go Hornets!!!!

Thanks BPM. That Barhum kid that is in the 8th grade is going to be a player for you guys in the future! This is going to sound crazy but he made 75% of the tackles.... Also your current freshman class has a couple of really good players in it as well. Its going to be really interesting to see how Milan does when morris calls it quits.

I think Milan wins this game.....BUT McNairy will not lay down and may surprise the dawgs. I cant rule an upset completely out of the picture but it will be a tall order for the bobcats. The dawgs are really good regardless of the record.

Visitor side is not the biggest in the region but we have yet to host a game this year that it was completely full... I know that Covington travels really well so you guys might be the first!!!! I wish our team was going to be playing full strength. We have 1 of our best defenders out because of the ejection in the McNairy game and now we a couple of our other really good defenders out with the stomach bug! The kids I am talking about are in the top 5 in tackles.......... Hopefully Covington got the same stomach bug!!!!

Should be a great game in Alamo! Haywood is the first team that Crockett has played that will match them physically. Its going to be interesting to see what #32 can do running the ball against the tomcat defense. Crockett - 26 Haywood - 28

Im not sure about Covington but SGC will not be playing full strength. Our heavy hitter in the secondary thats an outstanding defender will not be able to play in this game because of the ejection in our last game. I know one player does not make the difference between winning and losing but this one is going to hurt.

Ahh... Same county, same school system, different schools. Gibson county is in the north end of the county and SGC is in the south end of the county.

Charger fan. I dont ever remember playing Covington in a really game. We came up and scrimmaged covington last year.

Sheww...... This is going to be a game! I saw Covington play Ripley this past Friday night. Im not sure if Covington is that good or Ripley is that bad, or a combination of the 2. SGC is going to have to play extremely well up front if they want to run the ball against the D-Line from Covington. Covington and SGC are in the exact same boat. Win 1 of the last 2 region games and you are guaranteed a home playoff game. Win both of them your guaranteed home playoff games till the quarter finals. The Hornets nest will be rocking this Friday night!

3 team race for 1st place in this region at this point. Covington has the best shot at this point. Sgc has the next best shot. Covington must win out to win the region and SGC must win out to win this region. Its funny how everyone ( including myself ) had bolivar as the favorite to win this region and now they have 0 chance of winning it. The SGC vs Covington game is looking like the game of the year for this region.

McNairy folks. I going to be honest with you guys. I have no idea whats going to with the coaches, parents, boosters, or anything. I am telling you that what I have saw on this board is not healthy........ Everyone thinks that their kids is better than they really are. That's just the way it is. Its human nature. Football is a very emotional game. Players put a ton into the game and parents or fans always knows whats best...(but they are not at practice or they do not see what the coaches see) I have coached a little bit and I have been angry or disappointed with the decisions of our coach before BUT lets not forget that we are playing a game here and none of this is life or death. Has our coach made me scratch my head before? yes a bunch of times. Has our coach always made the right call? no. BUT he is our coach and if you guys continue to parade him or bash him at every chance he is going to second guess himself at every turn. Tone all of this noise down and be a great Bobcat fan. I have been spitting mad at some of the calls that our coach has made in the past... I honestly have but he is still our coach and I will support him. All of this daddy ball crap is just that crap. The bobcats have some good players and let the coach line them up and play some football. His record in a few years will dictate if his calls are a success or not. I do not believe in daddy ball in high school sports..... There is to much pressure to win.

Really good question! several really big games left to decide the how the regions is going to play out. I think SGC will one of the last 2 and be at home for a playoff game! DO NOT overlook Milan. They are good and have alot of playmakers.

I will own my words. BEFORE the season started I predicted this region to end in this order: Milan,bolivar, SGC, Covington. I think everyone had the top 4 correct. I think today you take my top 2 and move them to the bottom. Take the bottom 2 and move them to the top. Its VERY likely that you are going to have play each other twice. I hate the current playoff format but that a different discussion for later. The SGC v Covington game is going to be huge. The SGC v Milan ( lord knows where we are going to play that game............) is going to be huge. The Bolivar Milan game is going to be huge ( im taking milan ) The Covington vs Bolivar game is going to be huge. Really looking forward to seeing how this is going to play out. Someone that knows how to make a new pole should start a new thread call mid season pole.

Well guys I have no comment about any of the daddy ball or coaches being fired because I only know one guy that lives in mcnairy county and I am really not sure if he is even inside the county line.... As far as the game goes...... If the bobcats are having a hard time moving the ball its really not going to go well for you guys. SGC has a very stingy defense. We are only giving up 14.8 points per game. We have had a nasty schedule to this point. With that being said. I do not buy into to crap about this not being a game. I have watched the film and the bobcats can play ball. Is SGC favored? yes. Can the bobcats win? yes. I am hoping for a good game and no teams leaves with any major injuries. Hopefully the guys in the jailhouse uniforms will be a little more friendly to the guys in orange this go around. Last year I called one of the worst officiated game that I have ever seen. I'm looking for a close game. I know this game means nothing for the playoffs but If you are either team you want to win! I think the Mustangs have been waiting on this game since last year when the dawgs embarrassed them. Honestly I was really surprised that Morris ran the score as high as he did. Thats not a knock on him because I know that he is is classy guy I just cant believe he let the score get to 60 plus!!! Thats a TON of points for a high school football game. Milan has shown me in years past that even when you think they are a down they show up when it really matters. If I were an odds maker I would make the line Milan + 7.5. Gotta love high school football! Don't have facts to back this up but its gotta be one of the oldest and most consistent rivalries in the state!!!

You never know how teams will shape up when you schedule. Sometimes its hard to say one way or another. Covington does have a pretty hard schedule on the road. But it looks like the chargers are a well oiled machine.

What happened on the second to last play of the game in OT? I was listening to it on the radio and the radio guy swears he did not get in the endzone??? Anyone provide any info on what happened. Congrats to the Chargers! I knew this would be a good game. Sounds like it was one for the ages. Milan will have to regroup quickly the have to play the mustangs next Friday.
