  1. pickett is 2-10 or 2-6 if you ignore the Hall of fame games, so (2-6) Hartsville is 3-6 N.J.
  2. i believe this was posted earlier but this is what i heard: girls teams are LA, Hendersonville, Clay Co. Pickett co., Unaka, Pigeon Forge, Kingsport Dobyns Bennett, Rhea County. matchups: Unaka vs. Pigeon Forge, Pickett vs. DB, Clay vs. Rhea County, and LA vs. Hendersonville but i've also heard Unaka pulled out and i dont know who is replacing them. boys teams: Clay Pickett LA Station Camp George Washington Carver Rossview Jefferson Elliston Baptist Pickett vs. GWC, Station Camp vs. Clay, LA vs. Jefferson Co., Elliston vs. Rossview N.J.
  3. well the tourny after the first round sounds rough, second round matchups sound like as follows, PC vs. LA & Clay vs. Unaka, or PC vs. Unaka & LA vs. Clay, either way they sound like good games this year this tourny will make those 4 teams that much better i can tell you that much, how good are those other 4 teams anyway only one i remember is K-DB from last year and they did not impress me one bit. N.J.
  4. just make sure you guys dont count PC out just yet, it was no fluke that they made it to the Regionals last year and almost knocked Celina off, and probably would have gone to State that year, they may have lost Smalling & Cook but they still have the core of the tallent from last year with Emily Smith & Sara Sells leading the team this year, they should be contenders for at least a share of the district title, well at least until they decide if Jackson County is gonna be in 7-A or 8-A for the upcoming year. TOMboy, ... Pickett has not beaten MHS in 5 years??? hmm lemme look i have the scorebooks around here somewhere from the last 5 years PCHS vs. Monterey over the last 5 years(season)[Tournaments] 2004 (0-2) pending district tour 2003 (0-2) 2002 (0-2) 2001 (1-1)[0-1] 2000 (1-1)[0-1] so you are wrong because i was a member of the team back in 2000 & 01 and i remember beating you guys both times up here at Bobcat Field, so you are wrong now if you ment in the last 5 tries instead of years then i appologise but this is the truth, and like a famous wrestler once said, the Truth Hurts doesnt it. now back to topic, i know the game is in progress but i actualy think the standings will go as RBSHS as the District champ but PCHS with the second place instead of Monterey, remember both times PCHS played Monterey this year they gave them everything they could handle but mistakes cost the Bobcats both games this year, if they can keep the mistakes down you might even see a "game 3" tomorrow on top of the mountain. N.J.
  6. ok 4th and goal, that from where i sit is uncalled for. Muffin; B-ville = Burkesville aka. Cumberland County HS the host school of the tourny both PCHS & CCHS went to. now as some of you know i'm a PCHS alumn and i am not a very big supporter of CCHS, but i have to agree with them on this one, i mean look at it this way in all sports usualy when you schedual for a tourny durring the middle of the season you just schedualed out, you DO NOT know the schedual until usualy a week before you go to it, for PCHS they didnt know until the DAY of their first game in the tourny who they were gonna face, so cut them some slack even they couldnt of known that they were gonna play 3-5 games in 3 days then have to come home to play LA, which if i was their coach i would have pushed the game back a week instead of forfeiting thats where i do not agree with him. Now if you think they got it rough look at PCHS's schedual 4/1 vs. CCHS from what i was told by the coach that got pushed back a few days 4/5-7 @ Fred J. Capps tourny 4/8 @ Clarkrange 4/9 vs. Albany, Ky. 4/10 vs. Jackson County now if i counted right and not counting the Clay game, that is a potential 5-7 games in only 6 days and i know that weather permiting all those guys will play, its tough enough that we've had to push back a few games and even have to cut the games against Sparta down to only 1 game instead of the two doubleheaders we had due to them schedualing LA on the same day we were supposed to play them, but thats another story in itself. and to BD44, the point is to go out and play, this is the last chance for your seniors to win a lot of games and from what i have heard out here you guys have the potential to make the regionals this year, and playing LA is how you get good, if you can beat them or play tough against them then who knows how far you guys can go, and heck if your gonna lose anyway why not use it as a learning experience for your Sophs & Freshmen or guys that would normaly play a JV game. But i guess it realy is you're call on it if you want to play or not but take into consideration the rest of the team and the seniors when you make that decision. i appologise if i offended anyone with what i said but this is my view on this situation. N.J.
  7. thats a fairly good idea, i would support it but let me add a twist to it also Indiana HSAA in 1999 & 2000 did this when they switched to 4 classes, after each team won their respective State Title, they played again 1 week later in Indianapolis in a 4 team tourney 1A vs. 2A & 3A vs. 4A to determin who is the IHSAA STATE Champion, this could work if we ever decided to switch to a 4 class system in Division I. or we can still do it like so 1A vs. 2A & 3A vs. Div II, then the winners face eachother the next day as also a consolation game to precede it. Now i have gotten figures and done stuff like this before but it will be hard to re-draw the districts in certain areas when you reclassify as you wish to, especialy if you take all the Private Schools and either move them to 2A or Div II, then you end up with districts of only 4 or 5 teams in them, but if the TSSAA can make it work, all the power to them. And Before anyone says it NO to the Mono-Class System, been there done that, i think we need to stay at least with the system we are in, we are a big enough state to where we need to pair off teams of equal tallent in classes and have them face eachother for a state title. Eventhough i admit the Famous "Hoosiers" movie comes to mind when thinking of the mono-class system and the Milan Miricle when the Milan Indians(aprox. 120 students, mostly Girls) beat Muncie Central Bearkats(aprox. 1400 students), but remember the game was different then, rules a little different, different circumstances, back then they would throw up shots from half court after taking maybe 2 dribbles; nowadays the game has evolved into a more street style of game, at least it has in the Tri-Lakes area and that probably couldnt happen again. So i think we need to stay with this system that we have or go to a 4 class system with Div II on the side; i know i'm probbably gonna get flamed for this like i did when i gave the report on the Tompkinsville vs. PCHS game but go ahead if you want, i can take it, remember this is only someone's educated opinion. N.J.
  8. as long as the Kats come out and play half as good as they did Tuesday they will do well, i say Kats by 10, this is a big game for PCHS a win plus a win at Monterey will almost sew up the 2nd seed in this district, but lets take it one step at a time. N.J.
  9. well here is another stat for you that you might find astounding. PCHS was -10 steels to Turnover's that game too and yet still won, i'll agree it was a live by the three die by the three night for PCHS. From where i was siting we just didnt have the killer instinct that we would have being up by 6 or more on any other team until the start of the overtime. You have to admit that this team is much improved over the team that started out the season with a 1-5 record and has quickly turned it around and almost sinched up a 2nd seed for the tournament in Baxter here in 3 weeks. This is probably the best game i've seen out of PCHS since they played in the Arbys/KFC Shootout in Stearns, KY over Christmas weekend, and played 3 very good teams in that tournament and finished 2-1 with a second place finish, this should show you that this team can go as far as the team wishes to go. Now its just up to them to beat(hopefuly) RBSHS, then play good against Oneida, then to go to Albany, KY and take a win from Clinton County, which is a top 5 team out of Kentucky, then go to Monterey and take a win there to close out the district season then they have one final game at Oneida before the districts, so you see it doesnt get any easier from here, because when they play like they did today, no one will stand in their way. and as to the double dribble that you refered to... i was siting on the end of the bench when the supposed double dribble happend and from where i was looking i didnt see anything illegal about it but i have access to the tapes and i'll go back and check and admit if i am wrong about what i saw. N.J.
  10. i say PC by 10+ i know EHCHS is a school rich in tradition and is a perinial powerhouse but this might be too much even for them this year. Expect Bailey to have 20+ points in this game. Prediction PC: 75 EHC: 62 Ok i know its the wrong forrum for this part of my post but what about the girls game, from what i have seen of the girls they might actualy have a chance to beat the Eaglettes by single digits, and eventhough i know the rules of The Big One's contest i'm sure in my mind that this game and the boys game should be in there just because of who is playing and the history of this game. Prediction for Girls game PC: 55 EHC: 51 N.J.
  11. it will be played at the new Clay Co. HS. And to the other topic in hand started by Itz, i unfortunately know the man in question and i have had to look back at him CONSTANTLY and tell him that he needs to tone it down or leave the building, the sad thing is is it is our Star Player, Joseph Bailey #23's, Father dooing all the yelling up there, and i will say that i am giving props to the Eagles for beating us fair and square eventhough i am sure that anyone could tell you it would have been a little close if the refs would have just stayed out of the way and kept their emotions in check. N.J.
  12. first off Discjockey, no we do not have the same refs every time we have a game up in "The Den", it just looks that way, i can say that we have had a different officiating crew for every home game thus far. Now as to the MCHS/PCHS game, i will also say that it was TERRIBLE, almost atrocious as to the officiating, lets put it this way i was a Graduate Assistant(Manager) for PCHS when we last went up there 2 years ago and they got 2 breaks in that game and they were the only questionable calls in that game, the first came in the third quarter with about 2 minutes to go, they called a time out and sent out 6 players onto the court we threw the ball in it got picked off and they scored a quick three, the ref then blew the whistle and said that there were six men on the court, then they discussed it for about 5 minutes and decided that the 3 points will count(someone explain that one to me). Then the second came with 10 seconds to go in the game, we were down by 1 and we decided to run a baseline play for Luke Mason, he recieved the ball and ran the baseline and i was sitting almost on the baseline, with 4 seconds to go the ref blew his whistle and said that Luke Stepped out of Bounds then they threw the ball in and won. I had a perfect view and i must say that he was AT LEAST 6 inches in bounds. Now i went this year because i had an odd fealing that it was gonna be de ja vu all over again, and it was with as everyone said more of a Rugby match than a Basketball game with all of the calls in the first half then the second half it was like the refs did not even care about blowing the whistle unless someone called a time out or stepped out of bounds or walked. Once a fight even broke out durring the game and it took both refs, 6 players, and their assistant coach(Dragging off one of their players) to try to bring order to the game. Now the game was 68-65 with 15 seconds to go, we got the ball and as last time i was sitting down near the baseline watching, and again we ran a baseline play, Luke again caught the ball and ran along the baseline looking for a quick layup, but the ref again blew the whistle saying he stepped out of bounds which almost lead to another fight as the fans on both sides grew Restless about the the calls, and then they threw the ball in and just passed the ball around to pick up the win, then they quickly stormed off the court and headed towards their locker rooms, it took their Coach telling them to shake our hands to get them back on the floor and show some sportsmanship. And since i had the best view of the call i can tell you from experience that Luke was at least 1 foot in bounds. I challange anyone who would have access to the tapes from Saturday and from 2 years ago to look at the tapes and see how bad the games realy were, words cannot describe them. I will give MCHS credit they have a tallented team but they seemed at times to be very hot headed and willing to FIGHT rather than play the game, and i will say that some fans were actualy saying "How about we drop Albany, KY from the schedual and put these guys in their place" now that i have had time to think about it i dont even know what to think of that idea. Now as for a possible solution to how bad these boarder wars with Ky/Tn usualy get here is a plan, i know it might seem unrealistic but just bear with me for a minute: At each game since they have 2 refs in KY lets have one State have one ref represented at each game at least that way it kinda evens out with the TN ref calling a lot of fouls and the other ref making makeup calls since he sees how hard the TN reff is working, and in the same can be done with the games in TN lets use the same rules with 2 refs only but its just a thought i dont expect anyone to follow up with it. Ok thats my rant for the week, now that we got a very important game tomorrow i will leave this topic and ideas up to you guys. *Edit* and Bulldog23, tell me exactly how we were the instigators, last i checked the games that you guys & Hermitage usualy play against them get a little rough but not as knock down drag out as our game did, so tell me how did we instigate them because i never saw anything to provoke them, but i didnt see the first 3 minutes of the game so if it happened in there i didnt see it. N.J.
  13. well, we won at Oneida last night 28-2 F/4. I think they still have something to prove, mainly because they are a young team this year, with some first time players in Joseph Bailey & Ernie Rigney, both did excelent last night. And with a new coach and a tough schedual i think everyone should be looking towards Byrdstown for a good team in Baseball, and a possible District title, sorry Monterey but your time is up. N.J.
  14. i've seen the boy play in street and in organized ball he's good enough to play down here, he is a Guard/Small forward, cant tell the height or weight, could with the right attitude and commitment to the sport be the next Nathan Aaron, and this kid is only a Sophomore if i heard right. and as to the Wright boys, Justin(14) will be starting as far as i know coming fresh off of football this year and should be one of the better players alongside Lance Beaty & Luke Mason, Josh has a posibility to start but at the time being i doubt it, i'll have to watch more Pre-Season and practices to tell more, and if i remember right, the last 2 times we were picked to not win the district we have won the Conference and District and Regional titles so dont count us out yet. My predictions 1) PCHS, a dynasty that seems to have no end, at least not yet 2) Clarkrange, a school that should be a perinial contender but has had a few off years 3) Red Boiling, need a few years to be the best 4) Hermitage Springs, they should be the sleeper in the group so expect an upset from them this year 5) Celina, better than people think but should not be too bad of a threat but still can surprise people 6) Monterey, like one person said earlier, "when's baseball start?"(paraphrase) N.J.
  15. Alisa and Ashley both started but Ashley quit Senior night and Alisa had to carry the load the rest of the year. N.J.
  16. as to the first q. PCHS lost: Alisa Davidson & Ashley Moreland as to what happened to the coach: Tim(Elmo) is still coaching unless he decides to call it quits at the end of the Football season this year. N.J.
  17. the only team you need to worry about is PCHS, unless Clarkrange has a good year, because everyone knows that PCHS is one of the scrapiest teams there is and they dont give up, look at the last i think 6 games they were all decided by 4 points or less. N.J.
  18. well not because i am from B-town or anything but here is how the ladder should look this year Pickett Co. Clarkrange RBS Monterey Celina Hermitage i just dont know if Celina has improved that much and i have had a sneak peak as to what PCHS has to offer this year thanks to me being good friends with the players. as to weather or not CHS and HSHS are going to consolidate; i have talked to some of the people from those schools and they have told me that they will not because of something about that it will cost too much money or something like that. N.J.
