  1. Last years team did have a middle of the road record, but if you look closer is it because last year's schedule was much easier? They beat a TRA team that went 2-8, Greenfield who went 1-8, FACS who went 2-8, West Carroll who had the best record at 5-6, Harding Academy who was 0-10 and Humboldt who went 3-7. Sounds like they scheduled well since the same staff was 1-9 there year prior. So far this year Halls has lost two a 4-0 TRA team this year, 3-1 Greenfield and 4-0, top 3 team in the state in Dresden. All I am saying is don't be too quick to judge the staff before looking at all the details. They are still on pace to do what the previous staff did in every other season they were there before last season...
  2. Westview has to get more of a run game going. When they played Dresden the only play they had was throwing it up to Joy, and most of those weren't even good throws. He had to stop and come back to several deep balls. He is a phenomenal athlete and will give some teams fits even knowing who is getting it, but they also have some teams on the schedule that will completely take that away. If they don't find more offensively they might be in trouble, including this week.
  3. Kirby rights the ship this week. Bounces back big at home vs. Brighton.
  4. Adamsville will be too much for McNairy in the end in this one this year. I will say, I wouldn't be surprised if McNairy makes it a game in the first half due to the rivalry.
  5. New region this year with Dyersburg, Covington, Ripley, Westview, Bolivar, McNairy Central, Scotts Hill and Liberty. How do you guys see it playing out? Dyersburg has to be the heavy favorite in my mind with so many seniors returning from a quarterfinal appearance. Covington is Covington and will reload and push for the top spot and a deep playoff run. Ripley has a lot back, but haven't heard much about them. Westview I hear had a good showing against Crockett County, but were hit hard with graduation. Bolivar has a very talented QB and some athletes everywhere. McNairy, Scotts Hill and Liberty are competely unknowns for me. Liberty was very exciting to watch when Tyler Turner was coaching there. Any thoughts?
  6. Halls got a good coach this go around. He will do well, and the players will love him. He is already part of the county so the transition will be smooth. Best of luck to Coach Stigall and his Halls Tigers!
  7. 2014 Union City Team was tough, Javonte Moffat, who went on to MTSU then the NFL, and Ricky Henry just to name a couple off that team playing 1A were animals. They went through that whole season really untested by anyone.
  8. Maybe the toughest region in 2A in the state top to bottom. This region has the historic rivalry of the dog and pony show in it as well as former multiple time state champion in recent years Peabody, and last years 2A runner up in Riverside in it. With Milan, Huntingdon, Riverside, Peabody, JCM, Camden, Adamsville and Gibson County in the same region this will be fun to watch. How will it play out? Thoughts?
  9. Who will be the playoff teams in this region. It now consists of Dresden, Gleason, Greenfield, Halls, Humboldt, Lake County, South Fulton, and Union City. In recent years Union City, Lake County and Dresden have been tough to deal with. Union City is an early favorite to make it to Chattanooga. That would leave the 4th spot wide open. How do you guys see it playing out in this region?
  10. A lot of folks picking against Westview. The old saying is to be the man you got to beat the man. I will go with them to win it all again with all the returning players they bring back to the boro.
  11. Every playoff win is going to be a tougher game. I just believe 7 3A wins the 1st round game. Across the board they will be more sound usually.
  12. I disagree. I believe the region 7 3A will sweep again. The QB is a baller for Sheffield, but you might need more than that to win in the playoffs. If Covington played Sheffield, it could be a 100 to nothing if Kirby wanted it to be.
  13. According to the Sonny Moore Power ranking its pretty much a pick em. Tough game to pick. Ripley lost to Dyersburg last season, but defeated them the two years prior, and Dyersburg won a lot prior to that. Seems like they have a good little rivalry going.
  14. I think this game could be a shoot out or a defensive struggle. These rivalry games always have a way of shaking up predictions and turning into good games. The kids and coaches will be fired up for this county rivalry.
  15. Coach Kirby and the Chargers will blow off some steam from last week's loss in this one. It is likely there is a running clock in this one.
  16. Every player on Haywood's roster gets to play this week.
  17. I believe Ripley started a lot of Freshman and Sophomores on Varsity last year as well, so that would make them more experienced as well. Idk who wins, but i wouldn't base my prediction on that if that is what you are relying on. They bring back most of their defense and the big fullback on offense. Could have the makings of a really good game.
  18. Ripley was very young last season, I believe they bring back almost everyone. Millington lost some lineman and arguably their best WR and athlete. They do bring back a talented QB for the next couple of years. Bolivar has had some social media posts that look like they have some good size and strength returning for their second year head coach. They are always athletic and they look to be improved. Bolton is a mystery.
  19. Did anyone see any spring scrimmages in this region? How did these teams look?
  20. Last year the Region finished Dyersburg, Covington, Millington, Ripley, Bolivar and Bolton. How do you guys see it shaping up this season? Dyersburg graduated a ton and Covington seemed to lose very few. Not sure about how the rest of the teams faired at graduation. I would say Covington is the early favorite without a doubt.
  21. Unfortunately WC will have a ton of trouble with McKenzie in this game. Comer has these boys primed and ready to challenge Peabody for the right to represent West TN in Chattanooga. Comer puts up as many as he wants in this game.
  22. They might be better than you gave them credit for. I think we were all shocked by the final score. I was under the impression Ripley had a good RB based on earlier posts. Did he not have any room to run the other night or what?
  23. What is your reason for picking UC in this one? You guys scrimmaged Ripley in the summer.
