The T$$AA is going to have to do a much better job helping Hohenwald than they have the past couple of years. As has been pointed out in the past, Hohenwald usually plays only two teams with winning records each season and typically goes .500 and, that is with beating the worst of the two teams. This year, at this point, R5 has five teams with winning records including Hohenwald. Last year, there were four with EH being a .500 team. In '22 and '21, you had three region teams finish the season with winning records while 2020 only two region teams finished above .500. That year, Hohenwald beat a 7-5 Chapel Hill team 7-0 for their last region title. Between 2014 and 2019, Hohenwald has been in a region where only three teams finish with a winning record. They typically went .500 in those games. Each rotation, the T$$AA rotates the dominant team our of their region. First it was Waverly (then went to 3A), then Chapel Hill, then Riverside, then (CA went to private somewhere in there). In 2013, the last great run, just before the season began, the T$$AA moved them out of district 12 and put them in district 11. Granted, who knew Loretto was going to be what they were last year and East Hickman what they are this year? I don't know if the T$$AA has just washed their hands of Hohenwald or what but this is looking like the first time since 1991 that they won't make the playoffs. Come on T$$AA; can't you see how you have set them up for failure? Do better!

Could Riverside still cruise R5?

When was the last time Richland actually earned a playoff spot and just how long has it been since they won a playoff game. Didn’t they get the nod when Fayetteville was ruled ineligible a few years ago? Speaking of which, what has happened to them. Last I knew they were undefeated and now on a losing skid.

What’s happened to Riverside? Graduation of players?

What I’ve been hearing from some friends over in West Tennessee is Covington by three scores; could be 17 or could be 21 points. Seems Westview won’t be able to run against Covington’s D line and LB’s and their CB’s are tall and fast. On the other hand, if WV can hit it big on a WR screen or two and score, Covington doesn’t have a passing game to catch up. Does Covington have more horses than WV?

Looks like the R5 championship comes down to Summertown and East Hickman Friday night. Who has who? Hohenwald has only one win against a winning team this year and that was 8-6 over mTp and, that win is not looking as good now. What is the playoff match ups with R6 looking like?

Anyone hearing the Richland coach heading towards Hohenwald?

Would Tullahoma not be a better fit for R4?

As far as I am concerned, this is the regular season game of the year in Middle Tennessee!

I guess the question now is, can Covington beat Westview twice? That old saying it’s difficult to beat a good team twice comes in to play here. Evidently, WV is not overrated it’s just that their competition for this year is down. Also, looks like their path to the championship for the next couple of years is wide open!

Giles is down this year. However, one thing they have going for them is that they are always playing 4A, 5A and 6A schools. Not weak winless teams either! Dont know anything about Mckenzie so, can’t comment beyond that.

Looks good youngcoach. However, you will never see Riverside back in R5 again. I’m betting Loretto will be moved over to R6 and Scotts Hill brought to R5.

Which Westview team is better? This year’s or the team that won the state?

I’m glad we are staying right where we are. Honestly though, I was for sure that we would be moving to 6A but, I guess having six schools in the county helps!

Add Milan to 4A, probably region seven. 2A over there is very tough and they don’t want any part of Covington or Alcoa.

You will not see Hohenwald in the same region as those two, no matter what! Hohenwald would never be able to win the region with those two in it so, the T$$AS would never do that! Waverly and Hickman stay in R5. Look for Loretto to slide over to R6. No way Waverly (as they will be down for a while) and Hickman (haven’t been good in forever) will be pulled away from Hohenwald’s region. Waverly and Scotts Hill in same region as Hohenwald. Look for Loretto to be moved over to R6. HC and Waverly will be in R5 with Hohenwald.

I doubt much changes for R5 with the exception of Loretto being swapped with Scotts Hill because Hohenwald hasn’t been able to beat them lately.

Especially with East Nashville and Pearl Cohn moving down to 2A, fully expect Milan to jump two classifications like they did two realignments ago and go into 4A. They won’t even have to face Covington! I’m sure they are tired of getting whooped by all of those 2A R6 schools! You just know they won’t stop in 3A where Alcoa is.

It looks like Westview’s best win has come against Dyer County who is a classification higher. Not only that but their only loss is to Westview. Was that win for Westview a solid win or, is/was Dyer Co overrated? Have to admit, I’m looking forward to the Covington/Westview matchup! Have to add in from original post that their schedule was already set and, from what I understand, that game against 1A Dresden is a long term contract deal. The note about that is that it seems Dresden has beaten Westview much more often than lost to them. Because Dresden and other teams are so down, I’m wondering just how good Westview really is?

In case it was not known, it looks like it will be another two weeks until Hohenwald faces a team with a winning record and then closes out the regular season with Waverly who is still reeling from the unfortunate events of the flooding.

They have put up some high scores and from lineage, their QB has to be legit. Are the teams they have played really that bad or is Westview scoring on all cylinders and with second and third teams? Seems Covington is going to be their toughest challenge during the regular season. However, just how good is Covington? I noticed they were not able to play their game tonight and it looks like that would have been a good match up. Whoever comes out of the West has to get past East Nashville to get to Alcoa and EN is typically very good. If Westview is that good, can they take Alcoa in the championship?

Hohenwald finally beat a team with a winning record this season. Makes for three in the past two years. I guess mTp is overrated much like last year. Who knew but, you called it.
