Looks like South Pittsburg added some more talent!

Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season! They very well could go undefeated in regular season. We shall see what happens in postseason. I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past. I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong. It should be a fun season!

I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in. It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times. I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town. Bball is a longer season than other sports.

Yep I agree and basketball is the most time consuming of all sports. I see schools now hiring coaches to basically just coach and not teach which I think is great. We have a lot of coaches that really aren’t interested in teaching also.

Good hire for McKenzie and a tough loss for Dresden. I agree I think Ben Carter would be a great hire for Dresden.

It is definitely comparable, I think 2A is going to be stronger this next year than 1A. McKenzie is probably a top 3 team in 1A for next season.

Getting moved to 2A would be a huge deal for Rebels! Talent pool is not as strong after this season.

Maybe but in my opinion the last 4 years for McKenzie the talent level is as good as y’all have ever had and it is rare for small schools. It doesn’t come around too often.

I think most McKenzie fans would admit the talent is dropping off a little after this coming season. Y’all have had a bunch of impressive athletes the last few years. No disrespect intended to the two you mentioned. I’m sure they will be good also but I don’t think the same success is coming. I have been wrong many times before and this may be one of them.

Yes I agree, Surber is a great Sr. leader to have for a new coach. They have a great shot to get back this season. I do think the Rebel fans will have to lower expectations after this season. It could be a few years before you see this kind of talent you have had the last few years.

Yes I think they will miss her a lot also. She gave them that extra outside presence that is not easy to replace.

Yea I strongly disagree, you could say making playoffs is equivalent to making region in girls basketball but not state. You could say making state tourney in bball is equivalent to making football semifinals or even championship game. Tell these players and coaches and fans that making state tourney isn’t a special experience. For many players and teams just making state is fantastic.

In high school, coaches are paid to win championships? Ok in basketball if you make state tourney it’s a successful year for most teams. It’s a hard accomplishment and teams and coaches should be proud of that. No doubt every coaches goal is to win championships but in high school sports you better have some talent. I see lots of teams in West TN that would be happy to make the region semifinals.

Don’t sleep on Huntingdon! Return 3 starters and a 6’ 2” Center who will be really good next season!

Yes I agree I think they may be better next season. Westview lost to Huntingdon this season also.
