Let’s get back to talking about the teams left with a chance to win it all. How do y’all see the GC/Loretto and Westview/Summertown games going? Expect them to be big games just like last year

Look man. It’s fair to say there’s not one person on here that’s not happy and proud of the girls from greenfield and their accomplishments. I know I am. But you don’t get to tell people how to feel or what to say. Especially on a message board. Lots of opinions. And the vast majority disagreed with your take about them being the best team to come out of west tn. That’s it’s. There’s nothing personal. You made it about it the team. And here you are doing the same thing badmouthing players in Knoxville by saying Edie is better than all them.

What are the injury situations? Anyone gonna have to be playing at less than full strength?

Not going to get into the back forth pissing match about coaches. Wilkins and Haskins are both clearly top end coaches in the state. And working refs is part of the game. Only thing I will say is it is well known that westview refuses to play the best teams in the area that they don’t have to play. But it seems to work for them as they are in contention every year. But don’t get defensive when it’s brought up. It’s a fact.

Or. How about this. Don’t go over the back on every rebound. I get sometimes a bad call happens. Happens quite a bit. But she was consistently going over the back on girls in position. Tacky fouls wasn’t the case in this one.

This right here is about as simple as you can say it. They were a great team no doubt. But so was Middleton. And greenfield the year before when they lost and those Obion co, westview etc teams that couldn’t beat the great GC teams. Still gotta win when it matters. That gold ball they have is a joke

Refs were bad. I agree. But good fundamental boxing out got Kee a couple times. It’s tough but it is what it is. The defender was in good position to box out. Problem is every ref calls that situation differently. Just like calling 9 fouls on Huntingdon in first quarter then 1 or 2 in second. Never know what you gonna get.

Tonight showed what separates GC and Westview from the other teams in the area. They both have a second option that can go for 20-25 and win a game. Huntingdon just couldn’t beat the top 2. Still a very good team and a lot to be proud of.

Lol takes a real good one to show up after a win and start talkin. I stated if the team tbat played at summertown showed up it would be double digits, if not it might be close. Clearly it didn’t and it was close and York pulled it out. Congrats to York. The tech was huge. I sure hope it was warranted to make that call at that stage.

The best defensive team up there will be westview. Maybe in all classes. That zone is a headache for opposing teams. They have completely shut down two of the best offenses in double in loretto and Gibson county in each game they’ve played.

Gatlinburg Pitman in a blow out Gibson county - if the GC team that played at summertown last night shows up it will be double digits. If not it might be close Westmoreland in a close one. westviews backups play more than starters.

What was your opinion on GC last night?? I watched it online and will say the atmosphere seemed incredible. Sounded like GC fans hung in there with the hometown crowd. It’s sad to that 2 of these four teams had to go home this early.

You’re not fooling anyone with this underdog story for westview. You haven’t been beaten in the state of TN this year and are 4-0 against a very good GC team. Will be at home. Westview is the favorite in a close one.

Westview is tough. Jada didn’t look quite 100% but she was way better than expected. And got better as the game went on. Played every minute. IMO the zone was a good strategy tonight. GC had a chance in the 4th. Just came down to westview having role players get hot which had been the story very game this year. Harrison and Sims are gonna get theirs. Just seems a different role player has stepped up each game. Now to move on…. What’s the thoughts on GC/Summertown and Westview/Loretto?

I don’t see Gleason beating McKenzie. They are a step above everyone in this region. Anything can happen on a given night but it would be a large upset. Imo.

Idk if I would say Westview has “ducked” anyone but it is safe to say they don’t schedule other top west tn teams very often. And it’s not because they don’t get asked to play is all I’m saying. By your logic all those too west tn teams should just come play AT Westview in the lions club tourney if they want to play? Makes sense lol. Either way. They are 3-0 against two of the top west tn teams this year. And have a great team.

I don’t know if this is true or not. But I have heard that there is no love lost between Wilkins and Haskins. And I’ve heard there has been multiple situations kinda like this that has taken place between the two with Haskins having his share of them as well. Just gamesmanship from both imo. There’s a reason GC/Westview didn’t play last year and it wasn’t because Wilkins didn’t want too…. I don’t think any of it has to be taken as negative towards either one. Coaches don’t always have to be buddies.

So you didn’t see Haskins be involved in that? Come on now. That was back and forth between coaches that lasted 10 seconds. Let’s not make it something it’s not.

That westview team tonight is gonna be tough to beat! The turning point in the game was when Barr got her second and the sub (Simpson?) came in and drilled 3-4 threes imo. Then the snowball started rolling. I don’t think Westview is that much better than GC. But tonight they definitely were and are no doubt the better team of the 2. I don’t expect the next 2 to be quite that bad though. Barr makes it easy on the refs when she slaps down. When your the biggest you can’t hide that stuff. Imo Westview definitely got the better end of the whistle tonight. But it had no real Impact on the game. Wilkins is going to have to adjust and figure out how to score against the zone. And has to get more out of everyone besides the hart girls. Had a few Westview people tell me that’s the best game they’ve played all year and I believe it. The put on a show

I agreed that it was a foul. Not looking for any rule change. Not trying to dismiss any feelings either. Just saying that to an outsider THAT SPECIFIC PLAY didn’t seem to be anything other than something that happens often in games and just happened to catch her just right to buckle her leg. Luckily she’s not hurt. And I think most people would agree, even if they won’t admit it, that having your star in the game up by that many opens up the door for something like that to happen when it could be avoided. It’s a fine line on when to pull them out. And I’m not judging your coach at all there. Did not mean to start a personal back and forth and have to be “advised” on how to act.

I’m gonna have to disagree here. When boxing out most are taught to put a body on someone. Not just “stand between someone and the goal”. Was this a foul? Yeah probably so. She didn’t let her land. Nothing close to intentional. I think some are letting who it is and how bad that injury could of been let emotions get them. Thankful it’s nothing serious.

Out of curiosity what do you think the problem is? Watched them at GC last night.

Was hoping to see a close one tonight. Westview just took control in second half. McKenzie found out what will happen when the 3s are not falling against a good team tonight. I believe they went something like 16-23 in the win over GC. Nothing close to that tonight. Either way. They are gonna be tough in single a. And westview is the team to beat in west tn 2a for sure. Ready for round 2 with GC.

That was a great team no doubt. And agree classifications don’t matter. But that’s pushing it on being the best team in state no matter classification. There are levels from talent AND depth. Some of the bigger schools would have given greenfield fits with size and depth. That is not a knock on greenfield at all. This schools have more freshman than greenfield has total students.
