  1. Only 15 spots?! The staff and spouses must have carpooled.
  2. FRA was very public about having a search committee and who was on it. Process served them well. I guess my "crappy" should be directed elsewhere at BA.
  3. I can't imagine that there wasn't a MacIntyre on the search committee that approved Gill's hire. That would be pretty crappy to split after being associated with the hire.
  4. Everything will be fine. Previous coach cast a large shadow and the football program needs to get out from behind it. PS Glad to see the previous coach hasn't lost that sideline fire https://awfulannouncing.com/college-football/trent-dilfer-meltdown-uab-marcus-spears.html
  5. If everything is in such bad shape how did they attract TT Hill, Shavar Young, and Easton Jointer to the school and program? A little adversity never hurt anyone and the sun will come up tomorrow, but I just don't understand how an organization that appears to have stability at the top all of a sudden seems to have adults (teachers and coaches per other posters) leaving at such a high rate. I read the article from a few years ago about a beloved teacher leaving but that doesn't signal to me some radical shift by a school. For the players sake, I hope they finish strong. Underclassmen have at least another year to enjoy some success.
  6. Indulge me. The Headmaster who oversaw the school's glory days is still there and is the same person who has run everyone (coaches, players, alumni) off?

    AAA

Important to note that both schools also have new HCs. Hopefully the Tennessean doesn't run a story every time someone leaves LA, but who else has left?
  8. They'll be better off without Deuce Knight. He clearly wasn't committed to the school or the program. It's a good group of seniors. Everyone knows that they're great football players. Now they can show what kind of young men they are.
  9. If an academician is working at a private or independent school in the south (that has football) they better be able to believe that academics and athletics can coexist. Athletics don't become great by accident. Someone has made the decision that an investment in people (coaches and players) and facilities must be made. The question is: is it (success) sustainable? BTW - that head was right to walk away from you. If ACT, SAT, and AP scores are poor for too long at a school, changes will be made.
  10. Some of BA's issues are similar to your comment about "gel". BA got some transfers late also. They all need time to gel. I understand that "thngs happen" and "people's jobss move them" but in both cases, LA and BA got new players in July. They would have been eligible to practice and workout with their teams in June if they had been part of (presumably) a typical admissions and enrollment cycle. I guess I'm asking why so many seem to wait until July to get on campus.
  11. In the AP's rankings for Division II-AAA Pope Prep got 6 votes. They're in AA as of 7/1. I'd take these rankings with a large grain of salt. 4. Brentwood Academy 0-1 97 5. MUS 1-0 87 Others receiving votes: Ensworth 64. CBHS 7. Pope John Paul II 6.
  12. Obviously not a lot of D2 schools playing other D2 schools but there are some good measuring stick games: McCallie vs. Chattanooga Christian; Goodpasture vs. ECS; BGA vs Knox-Webb; Nashville Christian vs. DA; MTCS vs. CA. Others? Thoughts? Most of those teams can't survive injuries so hopefully everyone stays healthy until the Region games start.
  13. I read this and I get how you feel, but I can't help but feel badly for the students. How much of your anger is really directed at Dilfer and how he went about it. And in his defense, he was given carte blanche and so you have to blame the school leadership and decision makers. Personally, I think the next 2-3 yrs in D2 AAA has the potential to be really awesome in terms of competition.
  14. I think you're talking about BA's dline. If that's the case, they're learning by going against GM in practice. It's a tactic I don't see enough of these days.
  15. If the top four teams at the end of each of the next 2 seasons all come from the same Region, is there a way for the TSSAA to shuffle the teams in middle TN? Ensworth might win the West this year but go 0-2 vs MBA and Lipscomb each yr.
  16. As always, appreciate everyone's contributions and sometimes seeing things a second time brings some clarity. At the end of the day, it seems like it's the TSSAA we're all looking to for some teeth. Speaking of transfers, am I correct that there is a 10th grader at Goodpasture who is in 4th semester of high school and has attended a different school each semester? And he reclassed to the Class of 2025 before getting out of Middle School? I love how when a student repeats a year in school it's called being held back or repeating, but if they are an athlete they are "reclassing". Maybe if got back to calling it "repeating" it doesn't sound so cool.
  17. As boarding schools - Baylor, McCallie, Webb Bell Buckle, etc - are able to have national and international student bodies. Unless they are giving financial aid beyond a family's demonstrated need (typically through a 3rd party service), they aren't doing anything wrong and those student-athletes are eligible to play in TSSAA sports. I am aware of situations in Florida where the FHSAA routinely asked schools to provide documentation regarding a FA award. I am not aware of the TSSAA making similar requests but that's not to say it doesn't happen. In regards to Lipscomb, I actually feel badly for their athletic department because it was an Admissions or Marketing staff member that approved and posted that post on the school's (not a team's) social media account. And considering the discussed fine of $1,000, the school and the program the post marketed got their money's worth in "free" advertising.
  18. Unless it's the barbershop in the school's football facility, I'm betting it's just talk. Most school issue contracts to current students around this time so it's normal for the buzz to be louder around now.
  19. Poor Father Ryan. In a post titled "Boo Carter out?", their athletic program is getting trashed. Is Boo still playing basketball at Brainerd?
  20. that East side of AAA is tough!
  21. I would guess that the Calvert Hall game has a little less luster with Coach Dilfer gone. Beating CH was his opportunity to beat down Mel Kiper (Calvert Hall class of '78).

    BA?

I read fb247's post as referring to Brian Lilly.

    BA?

That makes sense but I don't think applies in this case. You have a Headmaster who has been there since 2000. Clearly he understands and knows how the school can balance academics and athletics. On paper, this looks even more stable than the Lipscomb position long term. IMO.
