  1. If that was Boyd’s best, they won’t get past the 2nd round.
  2. Lipscomb adds to its win total But the biggest punishment until the Miami Central story broke had been the FHSAA dropping the hammer on The First Academy (Orlando, Fla.) over the weekend. The Class 1A team was ordered to forfeit all of its games, fined $36,000 and banned from postseason for this year and 2025. The punishment stems from an investigation that found the school used ineligible players, provided impermissible benefits to players, allowed athletes to be involved in football activities without being formally enrolled and improperly communicated with student-athletes prior to their enrollment at The First Academy. The school has 10 days to appeal the sanctions.
  3. Except for CPA, these things are cyclical Death, Taxes & Ingle Martin
  4. 9 pages for a team that went 0 an 6 in the region and lost by 20 to the team right above them in the standings. That's no fun for anyone. Sorry for the seniors.
  5. The dominate player only plays offense. The NCS defense seems to be playing pretty well right now. As for Curtis, the improvement I saw was maturity. He's always been able to throw and run, but last year when things got tough he might lash out at teammates. Obviously this season is going better but he's a leader now.
  6. Not a lifer. Was drawn to LA when Coach Dilfer was still there. The IMG thing is weird. According to the Tennessean article of a few weeks ago he left LA for IMG but then returned when they realized they didn't have a Middle School program. Seems like a search of the website could have told you that. But I'm guessing it was poor reporting on the Tennessean's behalf. They are from Middle TN as I understand so not a Deucer.
  7. Has anyone seen the proposal that was presented in the Spring? I assume THAT'S the proposal being voted on in December because it was originally tabled. The McCallie, GPS, and TKA proposal is something they've submitted as an alternative?

    Bye Week

You're the owner. What changes are you making to your team during the bye week?
  9. The non-football story these polls tell is interesting. Using only the top 5 in each division, there are no schools west of Jackson listed and Boyd is the only day school listed east of Lebanon.
  10. Boarding isn't the only differentiator. Lipscomb has its Endeavor program. Presumably that's how even an 8th grader only has to go to school until 12:30 each day. They aren't cheating or breaking rules. They are just offering something that other schools may not be doing.
  11. St. George's loses to Davidson 42-0 and gets 5 votes?
  12. So some of the students at BGA who are helping turn the program around all moved? Fields, Otey (2), and Fernandez, (Kellum moved from FL I think).
  13. I don't think Bentley opened his bag of tricks for this one. That being said, the CPA offense looked great and each BGA DB seemed to get tangled up with themselves at the wrong time - which is a compliment to the receivers. BGA made too many mistakes (penalties and the (not an) onside kick). The only break I saw CPA get was the no call on the fumble/pick-pocket on the kick-off return. Bentley is too experienced to get out coached. But his players definitely got outplayed.
  14. Anything bigger than Baylor & Lipscomb?
  15. An earlier post suggested that reducing Division 2 to 2 classes from 3 may lead some schools to drop football. That would be a shame IMO. I think most of these kids are playing for the love of the game and to be part of something bigger than themselves. That's a good thing. And they don't need to get a trophy just for playing.
  16. Under the current TSSAA system (which is the hand we're dealt), I guess I am. And as this is a Division 2 message board I'll stick with just 🏆 🏆🏆. My point was that the more kids playing high school football (and sports in general) the better. If reducing the number of classes from three to two means fewer kids playing, then maybe we're missing something.
  17. Remember when this post was about games this weekend? It’s week 3. Let’s see what things look like in mid-October before making D2 enrollment stew. Let’s let the kids play and worry about who they are taking to Homecoming. But while I have you…The more opportunities for championships the better. The numbers demonstrate that most these kids won’t play after HS. Let them chase the gold ball.
  18. The only thing I'm sure of is that the BA kicker will put this week's opening kick into the end zone.
  19. Losing to CPA is one thing. Losing to DA and FRA was too much for the board and alumni. Got themselves a coach and some players.
  20. Last year, Rabun Gap, CPA, DA, Knox Webb, and Pearl Cohn walked away victorious. I think all but the Knox Webb vs BGA game were close. PC will be the only repeat winner this year. Just enough graduation loss at CPA and DA for BA and NCS to walk away with wins this yr. And BGA has won the Middle Region D2AA transfer portal sweepstakes this year. They loss no one to graduation and all of the new players became the best players on the team at those positions. Mr. South Carolina will have them rise again. And those Metro schools love beating the privates.
  21. Article requires a subscription. Was mindful of replies bemoaning the fact. As for the Weekend's predictions: Redemption for each in some way A - NSC AA - Boyd AAA - BA
  22. I was thinking the line his parents fed him on report card day. (though I'm one to talk...)
  23. Reactions to yesterday's article? I'll start - as if some of those D2 - AAA teams needed more motivation! Every game and every week in both regions should be fun to watch. D2 - AA What happened to the West?! Winner of the BGA - CPA game takes the Middle Region. D2 - A Jared Curtis and NCS have some new players on offense it looks like. If they can avoid injuries and being pushed around by the brutes in A, their offensive potential will get them the gold ball.

  25. The program allows athletes and only athletes to take online classes so that their time on campus can be spent on strength and conditioning and preparing them to excel in college athletics.
