  1. I kind of agree with him though, but not the Comer disrespect. Comer is an excellent head coach and has done a lot for the rebels, but I feel like its not going to be what Comer thinks its gonna be being at Milan, especially with new assistants surrounding him. He had it made at McKenzie, with an extremely talented group of boys this coming year. I believe I would have finished my career where I had the most success. But, money talks I suppose. Who knows, he may have those bulldawgs set straight within a year or 2. There is way too much discipline that needs to be spread around at Milan though. Wish him nothing but success, I just don't think it was the right move, but again he is the coach and I'm just someone typing words on a forum.
  2. Yea, I thought I seen you or someone mention that they were a young team. Maybe this new coach can get that defense turned around and Camden can start being competitive again in those big region games.
  3. I thought I remember someone saying last season, that they were a relatively young team. Not saying they will be a juggernaut next year, but if they can return that offense and build up that defense, they will be better than most think. That is, if the coach can keep them motivated.
  4. I mean Dresden could have beat many 2A teams last year. Just cause they are 1A, doesn't make them worse than any team in 2A. I never once said anything about being happy McConnell leaving, I don't know the man, nor do I care much about Camden. I think you may have me mixed with someone else. But yes, if Camden had any type of defense, they could have been a dark horse to, at the very least, win a couple of playoff games depending on who they were playing. I don't know many teams that can score 50 points and lose by 20. With most the kids playing both ways, there should have been some talent on the defense, but you didn't see it. I put that on the coaches not having the boys prepared to play their defensive position. It could have been a power trip from McConnell, idk. Or they could have just had a bad DC, idk. Maybe the new coach will have them better prepared this coming season. #GOMUSTANGS
  5. Camden could have been in the running last year if they had any defense. Apart from Huntingdon, Milan, and Riverside, they played really well on offense, but their defense gave away too many games. @Beagle How many of those kids are they returning for next season?
  6. The real question is, is he going to keep the current DC? I understand Camden needs help on both sides of the ball, but the defense was really bad last year.
  7. As a Cowboys fan, we probably need a class like AA. Disclaimer: Also not making light of AA Disclaimer to disclaimer: They are like drugs though. Get you really high, then drop you straight on your head.
  8. Buckle up. The drought will continue many years until they do a better job at hiring coaches, stop overpaying mediocre players, and holding on to those players for longer than they should, and hire a legit GM. Until those things happen, it will be either a .500 season or a 1 and done in the playoffs. As a Cowboys fan, I wasn't even surprised with the whooping we got. I've grown to expect it and if something else was to happen, I consider it a fluke. My mind will never change until we are holding up that Lombardi trophy. The life of a Cowboys fan is not for the faint of heart lol
  9. Agreed. Also, Cj Pelanero not being on this list is a bit sus. Definitely one of the best defensive players on the field for either team, for any game.
  10. Now that is something to be excited about. What a change! Looks nice!
  11. Absolutely hurt us with him being hurt. I hope the surgery is a complete success and I will pray for the doctors, for Gray, and for his family. This rehab will test him mentally and physically, but he is a tough dude and there is no doubt he will be back stronger next year. But this is bigger than just one player. We've had some extremely talented young men come through the last 10-12 years and what to show for it? We have always been a successful team, but is it really a success if we have no hardware to show for it in those years? Croppy likes to argue (no disrespect croppy) that our success is what most teams strive for, and although I agree, it's not enough with the talent we've had. Sure, we won our region with out regular season game plan, but when all the other good teams change to their post-season game plan, we still stick to our regular season game plan and that will not be enough to win you those big games. I highly doubt I could be as successful as Swenson if I was the head coach, but at least I know when it's time to open up the playbook. I'm not necessarily calling for his head, because it could be a complete disaster when the time comes for him to move on, but I will criticize him for his short comings. I love football, this town, and this team! If I had to choose one level of football to watch for the rest of my life between high school, college, or pros, it would be under those Friday night lights every time! GO MUSTANGS!!
  12. Riverside would have been still hard to beat either way, but I wouldn't be as salty if we made it close. That's the thing, I would hate to get rid of Swenson with all his success, but there has to be a change somewhere. Now days, it's hard to win these big games with just running the ball, there has to be some kind of passing game to set up the big runs. We have the horses to do both, run and pass, but it just seems like they don't want to take the time to develop players for that kind of game. I'm a nobody, but I need a little more out of the play calling, especially in the games that actually count.
  13. See the coaching staff for why we got away from the passing game against Riverside. Happens every year. We continue to produce consistent winning teams year in and year out just to be shafted by the play calling. Looks like we have some speedy studs coming in from the middle school next couple of years. I know the success doesn't always transfer from middle school to high school, but that middle school team looks pretty darn good. Let's just hope for the coaching staff to finally realize what we have and let them throw a little more. But, I ain't going to hold my breath and neither should any other Mustang fan.
  14. Highlight video made by a student to showcase the young stangs 2023 undefeated season.
  15. I sure hope so. Would be nice to go witness and experience a win at state. I was a sophomore in 2004 when we got beat by Alcoa and was at the game in 2012 when we lost a 1 point heartbreaker to Gordonsville. I actually didn't hate that 2 point play call at the end. I don't think it would have mattered either way, Gordonvilles RB was a beast!
  16. The only year I would consider us falling off, and forgive me I don't remember what year that was, but it was the year they changed the helmets to resemble Michigans helmets. We had an off year and they went right back to the old helmets the next year lol
  17. And my assessment on that is solely based off hearsay and what I read on here. I'm not close to the school or the kids. I hope that is the case because we are losing some special kids this year and next. After the butt whooping we got to begin the season and them showing everyone how resilient and tough they are, I really thought this was going to be the year. I knew we were going to eventually go through Riverside to get there, but I just knew we were going to pull it off. I will always criticize the coaches (if needed), but have never doubted the kids ability to grind it out. I love my stangs and this community! I've always valued yours and croppys input on here, so here's to hoping you're right and being able to push through this "curse"
  18. Until the coaching staff shows they can make adjustments when needed, we won't be going nowhere, but home. I hate to sound like Forest fans, but it's the same thing every year. Bad play calling will get you sent home every time against good teams. But I agree with you, if not next year, it will be a while before we are in the mix again, but then again, it seems we say that too often and it continues to be the next year, every year.
  19. I knew he was injured before the game, but he wasn't all we had. It's not just this year though. It's been every year that we can't get it done, even the years where we had a cupcake schedule. I know both are tough, not enough competition won't have you prepared and too much competition can have you beat up, but he wasn't the only player we had. We abandoned the passing game when we were having some success and their defense was stuffing the run. I just can't pick them to be the favorite until they show me they are the favorite. Still love those stangs tho!
  20. I just can't pick my stangs to be the favorite to make it to state next year. Region champs? Sure, that is very possible, but until this coaching staff can show me that they can make the necessary adjustments when they are needed, I'm going to have to go with someone else. I would much rather eat my crow than to continue to look like a fool claiming us as the favorites every year just to underperform in the playoffs year after year. We had the horse's in the stable, but still couldn't get it done.
  21. I hope what I heard about Gray isn't completely true and if it is I hope he has a speedy recovery and it doesn't affect him next year. I understand coaches like to stick to what they do best, especially Swenson, but in these games and beyond, there has to be some kind of change going forward if we are going to be successful, at least next year in this region. Somebody said earlier, somewhere, that we were pretty successful on the pass plays against Riverside and they wondered why we got away from it. I agree with them. Why not just keep passing until we set up the run? We can't keep running the same plays against good teams and expect it to work every time, there has to be an adjustment somewhere and IMO these coaches aren't able to do that in meaningful games. That has been shown plenty of times in the past 10 or more years. I'm not saying dump Swenson, but Jesus it's so frustrating. Our secondary has played really well this year, even better than I had expected, but I agree with you, that play you should have had 1 or maybe 2 players dropped back to defend the long pass. Another issue, like you stated, is the non-existent hurry up offense. In meaningful games, every second counts and it will hurt you tremendously if your qb is running 15-20 seconds off the clock having to run to the sideline to get the play. Swenson and the coaches need to get with the program. Use pictures or hand signals something, even if its just for the hurry up offense. I can't say that if all this was fixed during the game with Riverside, we would win, but I think it would have been closer. Riverside is just talented, from the players to the coaches. Good coaches win those meaningful games and Frost did just that, 2 years in a row. Good luck to the Panthers, bring that gold back to the west! Much respect from a salty and frustrated Mustang fan.
  22. You can tell this feller is a real OG old head. The amount of exclamation points and the non-ability (or stubbornness) to turn off caps lock is a dead give away. Well, he did write one sentence not in caps, but I assume he just hit the wrong button.
  23. 1A Coalfield South Pitt. Moore Co. Dresden 2A York East Robertson Huntingdon Fairley
  24. Curious question. If Huntingdon was to make it to the 4th, would we have to travel or would we be at home?
