  1. Updated article indicating he’s being investigated by the Department of Children’s Services for allegations of child abuse or neglect. What??? All I will say is the rumors I had heard prior to this had nothing to do with child abuse or neglect. I really hope these are just allegations and nothing more. https://www.local3news.com/local-news/update-dcs-now-investigating-suspended-soddy-daisy-wrestling-coach/article_a8a8a2cc-f9b4-11ee-8a4d-5bd9facd30f6.html#
  2. I have only heard positive things about Coach Winesburg. I have also heard some of the accusations which are concerning especially considering the police is involved but they sure don’t seem like the coach I’ve heard so many positive things about prior to this. @cobrakid8 do you have any information? Hoping you can confirm that none of this is true.

  4. Can't wait to see this all go down on Saturday! McCallie really made a statement with their win over Baylor last week but Father Ryan is the best team and I think they beat both Baylor and McCallie by 10-15 points.
  5. I am usually always on the small school division hype train, but I think the fun is going to be in D2 this weekend to see Father Ryan, Baylor, and McCallie square off. Soddy's dominance has taken away a lot of the excitement in the small school we've seen in recent years. Here's how I see this playing out on Saturday... Quarter Finals Soddy Daisy over Munford (40+ points) Station Camp over Anderson County (12-15 points) Pigeon Forge over Millington Central (30+ points) Signal Mountain over Tullahoma (10-15 points) Consolation Round 1 Anderson County over Munford (20+ points) Tullahoma over Millington Central (20+ points) Semi Finals Soddy Daisy over Station Camp (25-30 points) Signal Mountain over Pigeon Forge (3-5 points) Consolation Semi Finals Pigeon Forge over Anderson County (15-20 points) Station Camp over Tullahoma (10-12 points) Consolation Finals Pigeon Forge over Station Camp (10-12 points) Finals Soddy Daisy over Signal Mountain (20-25 points) Best matches... 1. Pigeon Forge v. Signal Mountain... this should be one of the best matches of the weekend from any of the divisions. If the Tigers can save some bonus points in the lower weights they will win, I just don't think they'll save enough. Neither team is what they have been the past few years, but Signal is still great down low and Davis is dominant for them in the upper weights leading me to believe they have an veryslight edge. I would love to see Howard bump up to wrestle Davis. That would be a match of the year candidate! 2. Station Camp v. Anderson County... two new comers to the division looking to make a statement. They look to be pretty evenly matched. I am giving SC an edge based on some recent results, but AC is dangerous. If either of these teams had been on the lower half of the bracket, they could have made the finals. This one should be entertaining! 3. Tullahoma v. Signal Mountain... don't sleep on the Wildcats! Tullahoma has quietly had a great year. Signal is not what they used to be. Signal is still the better team, but I won't be surprised at all to the boys from T-Town wrestling Pigeon Forge tomorrow in the semis.
  6. This Soddy team has lived up to the hype. Last night showed they are the best team to ever come through small school when they are healthy. They should win the duals and individuals with ease. Signal could have handpicked the matches and it still would not have changed much in my opinion. Wade and Davis looked great for Soddy. Jenkins also impressed me the way he dominated Signal’s younger Davis brother. Despite there not being many competitive matches it was a great atmosphere and worth the drive for me. I will say that I think Signal has been overhyped this year. Outside of the Uhorchuks, the big Davis at 175, and Higdon at 106, they’re average to below average in almost every weight class. I expect Sam Everett to give them a run for their money tonight. Crockett and Pigeon Forge should both beat Signal after what I saw last night. Those are probably the most likely candidates to meet Soddy in the finals next weekend.
  7. Thanks Cobra! My son and I plan on coming after I get off work. He’s a big Jojo fan but I think Jojo’s team could be in for a long night. Signal could make it interesting but your boys would really have to have an off night to lose this one or to anyone in small school in my opinion. I’m looking forward to watching Cosper myself. He was a fun one to see at the state tournament last year.
  8. Great insightful posts from @cbg and @oceansize42 . Two of the best posters on this board.
  9. Thank you for your post and I can completely see how you feel when I step back and put myself in your shoes. I was merely speculating based on someone's post that said the incident included two boarding students in the meat of the lineup that were lock state champions. That was a mistake and I hope this apology is accepted. Best of luck to your son and congratulations on all that he has accomplished.
  10. I bet there's some shuffling in the lineups. Two good coaching staffs so whoever wins the toss will play a big factor. If they wrestle it straight up, I see it playing out something like this. 106-Higdon (SM) dec. Mayhan (SD), 3-0 SM 113-Davis (SM) pins Roberts (SD), 9-0 SM 120-Jojo (SM) pins Flavin (SD), 15-0 SM 126-Duncan (SD) pins Lynch (SM), 15-6 SM 132-E. Uhorchuk (SM) pins Lewis (SD), 21-6 SM 138-Wysong (SD) maj. Patrick (SM), 21-10 SM 144-Cosper (SD) pins anyone for SM, 21-16 SM 150-Shriner (SM) dec. Bull (SD), 24-16 SM 157-Turner (SD) pins Smith (SM), 24-22 SM 165-Ross (SD) pins Lillard (SM), 28-24 SD 175-Davis (SM) pins Rawlinson (SD), 30-28 SM 190-Wade (SD) dec. Burkolder (SM), 31-30 SD 215-Laxton (SD) pins anyone from SM, 37-30 SD 285-Davis (SD) pins Strong (SM), 43-30 SD I think Soddy's slight advantage in the middle and significant edge from 190-285 will be the difference. It wouldn't shock me to see this one decided by a match or two though.
  11. I mean if it’s in the meat of the lineup and two lock state champs, process of elimination would tell you it’s gotta be Askew, Sturgill, or Norman… guess time will tell for sure. This would drastically change the D2 landscape if true.
  12. Thanks cobra! Do you what time the matches start and is it at the high school or the old off campus gymnasium? Any predictions?
  13. I think that's the main difference with how people view Cleveland v. Baylor or even McCallie for that matter. Baylor and McCallie fans aren't trying to tell anyone they're great because they work harder than everyone. Unless I have missed something I haven't seen any Baylor or McCallie folks try to tell you they don't have built in advantages being a boarding school and having the ability to pluck talent from other schools every year. I would be interested to hear @durdon 's , @oceansize42 's, and @cbg's thoughts on all this.
  14. Does anyone know if this dual is still taking place tomorrow and if so what time and where? I hated I missed it last year. Heard it was a wild environment. Hoping to take my son this year. Soddy is truly elite in my opinion this year. Signal has their studs in the lowerweights but does Signal have anything in the upperweights besides the Davis kid that will give them a chance?
  15. This is so true, and I think the fact that their coaches have felt the need to post about it in the past is very telling.. Can you imagine if some Baylor person were firing off defamation against one of the Cleveland coaches the way the Cleveland guy on the other thread has been talking about Baylor's coach?? I also think it's so funny that Cleveland fans and coaches always love to say that Alan Jones isn't the main reason for their success and that he gives Bradley the same funding every year... it's laughable. Do these same people not realize that Alan's son wrestled for and graduated from Cleveland around the same time the money really started pouring in? You cannot tell me that he provides Cleveland's biggest rival with the same financial resources. It would be impossible for Alan not to be biased and you can't blame him for that. If I were a millionaire and my son graduated from Alabama, it would be crazy to think I would want to give as much money to Auburn as I give to Alabama. It's his hard earned money and he can do what he wants with it. Let's just not try to undermine his impact. All that to say, I haven't ever read where anyone on this board tries to say Cleveland doesn't work hard, or their coaches don't put in a lot of work, and their kids club isn't elite. All of that is true and most people on this board acknowledge that. I think it's just that the Cleveland people try to down play Alan's impact. If Alan Jones doesn't exist, the Cleveland Dynasty of the past 10-15 years doesn't exist. That is a fact. He has made everything that has transpired possible. If you disagree with that, I would challenge you to answer this... why wasn't Cleveland consistently on top prior to Alan's financial involvement? Cleveland was a very respectable team under Coach Miller, but they were never elite prior to Alan's financial backing.
  16. Thank you for this information! I updated it to include Bingham.
  17. See I knew I would miss something LOL Thanks for chiming in, I have updated 144.
  18. I tried my best to check results and weight classes but I'm sure I missed some. Please let me know what you think I missed. I have really enjoyed following single A compared to D2 and big school in recent years given the team races have been so close, but this Soddy Daisy team is on a different level than everyone else this year. Pigeon Forge and Signal Mountain both have some great guys but it looks like they have some big holes too. It wouldn't surprise me to see Crockett or Station Camp beat either of those teams. I also think Eagleville and Tullahoma should have a good state tournament this year. 106 1. John Haney (Upperman) 2. Luke Higdon (Signal Mountain) 3. Luke Mayhan (Soddy Daisy) 4. 19. I'm surprised the coaches don't have Soddy Daisy in their top 12. If I were ranking the Top 12 regardless of division I would have it... 1. Cleveland or Baylor (depending on the day) 2. Baylor or Cleveland (depending on the day) 3. Father Ryan 4. Summit 5. Halls 6. Soddy Daisy 7. Blackman 8. CBHS 9. DB 10. Brentwood 11. Nolensville 12. Lakeway Divisionally, Cleveland, Baylor, and Soddy seem head and shoulders above everyone else.
  20. I can tell a lot of time and research went into these. Great job WrestlingGod!
  21. This board has been dead lately. So I’m glad to see some excitement start to generate for the start of the season. I agree, great job with these initial rankings! I follow class A more closely than AA so I will focus my comments there. -East Hamilton did move up to AA -215 Zac Chrisman from Greeneville should be #2. He missed the post season due to injury, but he is the clear #2 guy behind Atwood. I would also have Howard from Pigeon Forge at #3 and Click at #4. Watch out for Laxton from Soddy here as well. He was ranked all last year, but missed the big dance last year as a result of being in that tough section that had Soddy, Pigeon Forge, and Signal in it -Carson Dupill will also be at 126. I would be surprised if Jojo cut to 113 and doubt Ethan wants to cut to 126 to wrestle Carson when he could easily win 132. -Agree with Little Johnny on Big Johnny Davis at 285. I saw him wrestle a few times during the offseason and I would have him in the rankings. Wade is solid as well. -I remember reading the South East Wrestling state of the program article on Signal Mountain and supposedly Jackson Davis has a little brother that is a stud for them at 113. Anyone know anything about him? -Agree with Pigeon Forge being a top 3 team as well. I would have it Soddy clear #1, Signal #2, Pigeon Forge #3. -I would also have Dylan Jackson in the rankings from Pigeon Forge at 190. -Cris Flockhart (Cocke County) is another to keep an eye on at 285. -I also think Eagleville is underrated. This may be the best team they have had in school history.
  22. I hope this can help rejuvenate the board and get everyone excited for the season. South East Wrestling does a great job with these State of the Program articles. I found them very interesting. This will give you an inside look at what some teams will look like this year. 23. Chrisman was a definite miss. I was thinking he graduated for some reason but that is my mistake. You get forgetful when you become my age! LOL If healthy I would honestly have him at #1 above Atwood. I will update my earlier post. With Turner, I have been told that he was very light for 160 last year and wrestled up a weight class to help the team. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him at 157, but doubt he goes any higher than that.
  24. This early on, there is so much speculation as to what weights kids will end up wrestling. I based these rankings off last year's results as well as off season tournament results. It is hard to believe the season is just right around the corner. As always, please let me know what you think I missed! 106 Sam Comes (Seymour) Luke Higdon (Signal Mountain) Blake Allen (Gibbs) Aidan Smith (Tennessee) 113 John Haney (Upperman) Evan Glass (Volunteer) Derrick Bolden (Millington Central) John Sanchez-Ponce (Alcoa) 120 JoJo Uhorchuk (Signal Mountain) Tyson Flavin (Soddy Daisy) Ezra Finstad (Gibbs) Zach Lewis (Eagleville) 126 Carson Dupill (Greeneville) Landon Turner (Harpeth) Zander Duncan (Soddy Daisy) Colton Relation (Samuel Everett) 132 Ethan Uhorchuk (Signal Mountain) Drew Lewis (Soddy Daisy) Eli Moore (Tennessee) Trey Moreland (Sycamore) 138 Brody McLemore (Eagleville) Wyatt Davis (Whitwell) Jake Ferrell (David Crockett) Adan Alvarez (Cheatham Co. Pigeon Forge 4. Eagleville 5. Anderson County It will be interesting to see if Signal or Pigeon Forge can challenge Soddy this year. I think this Soddy team has the chance to be the most dominant team we have seen in the division since the A-AA split. While Signal and Pigeon Forge have the star power to match Soddy's studs, Soddy's lineup should be extremely solid top to bottom, which should really separate them from the pack. I am also excited to see how Anderson County fares dropping down. I suspect they will do well. Expect Eagleville to make some noise this year, too! Gibbs would be my next team to watch not included on the list. I will be interested to see if Greeneville has any talent to build around Dupill. They have been such a mainstay at the top for so long, it feels odd not having them in my top 5 entering the year.
  25. 106 - Lane over Cordero ... I think many are underestimating Lane 113 - Tran over Ritchie 120 - Uhorchuk over Jakob 126 - Uhorchuk over Calvin 132 - Roark over Little ... Roark's positioning and strength will neutralize Little's quickness on their feet 152 - Deane over Leach 160 - Mad Max over Fowler 215 - Szymborski over Smith I wonder why Carson Dupill was left off the card? Some fun matches to look forward to.
