I'm not as familiar with GP as I am alot of teams. But I'll say this. Look at the difference in Weathers performance vs GP and her performance vs Gibson County. Huge difference. Defense wins championships!!

Can't forget Bradford High School in the 90s and their 3 peat. Couple of Miss Basketballs out of that group too.

I didn't think about that either. Hmmm interesting. There were a couple others in the ship that had lots of turnovers, walks, etc. Seems they only go by points scored. Smh. Oh well. No one will remember years from now who made all tournament but we will always remember who took the gold ball!

I agree AA is too competitive to call this far away. This state tournament was phenomenal Even though most people didn't like the draws. I hope GC is back next year! Not familiar enough with their underclassmen to know if someone can fill Turners spot defensively but I think Riding can pull up offensively big time. Westview and Huntingdon should both be in as well. Just an easier route for WV

I asked someone from GC last night if Wilkins would retire and they said rumor has it that he will stay to see the last Hart girl through. That would put him in his mid 70s. Whew. He is a superior coach. He knew how to use what each girl was best at to maximize it for wins. GC would not win that ball without each girl on that team. Hate #30 wasn't recognized by the state as well. But I'm sure she doesn't care with that Gold Ball in hand. Phenomenal job Gibson County! West TN really showed out this year!!

I said it before they played...depended on whose supporting cast showed up. Hart was held down for the most part but her supporting cast did the dang thing. Will not take anything against beaty. I'm all west tn and I think she's better than Hart, but Gibson county is a second half team and they wanted it more. It will be a battle against Loretto. Wish I could be there but I'll have nfhs tuned in for sure!!

I know everyone has improved since.summer but what was the outcome in summer?? I'm pulling for the west to get by today!

If both teams play like they did yesterday, I'm going with GC. Their supporting cast was on fire. Never know how things will go. I know some people aren't happy with these draws, but it has made for some good basketball

I wonder why GC didn't play mckenzie or huntingdon this season at all. The last 4 or 5 years, they've been playing them. Will make for a more interesting first game I guess.

Mcminn, gp and Loretto for sure. Gc vs huntingdon is a toss up. Huntingdon stronger in post. GC stronger guards. Both coached by a Wilkins. Think Huntingdon beat GC early in the season at a payday or something. It will probably be the best game to to watch!

I'll say this. I feel like Turner was taking the ball to the basket a little more last night than usual. You can really see the difference in confidence for her in defense vs offense. But her layup & the And 1 along with hitting so many free throws was pretty crucial in that game. Hart and Riding are definitely not the only handlers on that team. Turner has been handling the ball all year and can make some great passes. I do agree with pioneer that GC needs more out of the posts. At state tourney, they will likely be facing some bigs. Lannom needs to get stronger in the paint for sure. I haven't seen Trezvant play but looks like USJ beat them by alot so I think GC has this one. Not sure how they feel about maybe playing Huntingdon first round though!

Trenton Peabody assistant coach ejected out of game after threatening a fan and fan hit him upside the head! Just wow!! That should def cost him his job!!

Wasn't trying to take anything away from mcminn. Thanks for clarifying all. I knew GC guarded well but I've slept since then so couldn't remember all the exacts. I remember there being an ugly foul at the end on gc. Would be great if we could see these two teams in the ship this year and not too early on.

I believe last year at state wasn't Massengale kept at bay by GC? Maybe to like 10 or 12? I may be wrong but i agree...GC def going to be in the mix this year

Some of the Peabody girls and their families have posted on fb and snap pictures from the GC Athletics page where the girls were awarded all district and were talking trash about a couple of the players saying they didn't deserve the awards. Lots of comments from peabody players or family members antagonizing the issue. Like I Said - tasteless. I hope the GC girls aren't seeing it and letting it affect their game.

I was hoping JCM was good enough to advance and mix it up a bit. I've been seeing all the social media posts of Trenton players bashing some of the GC players and its tasteless and annoying at this point. New competition brings mystery lol

Looking at the west, does anyone know if westview, Peabody, and GC has any competition in the region or are we looking at another GC vs WV showdown?

I wish there were a gpa requirement. You can be super talented but the award should be for those who go above and beyond in all aspects.

A: LILY KEE HUNTINGDON. AA: MADDY NEWMAN...Gatlinburg Pittman. All around student and athlete with 4.2 gpa. Academics should play a part in addition to talent!

I did get to see it on 93.7. I'm telling y'all...#2 fills the void of Cantrell nicely. Think Allen was maintained well. Enjoyed this much better than the Peabody game! Gc had alot less turnovers than the other night I think.
