  1. Actually the Grundy QB was 8 of 17 with 1 INT for 110 yards against Polk. Charlie Murphy wouldn't call that passing at will, but he is very mobile and elusive. It will be interesting to see how the almighty chargers handle him.
  2. Is that the same defense that gave up 36 points to Meigs offense?
  3. I guess if Polk is overated then Howard must be overated also? Because those were two very evenly matched teams. And Polk didn't seem to have that much trouble with Howard's speed. It will be a good game Friday night.
  4. Lets see, 89 yards to the endzone, 59 to FG range, 2 minutes on the clock, 2 time outs, yeah sounds like a ground and pound situation. If Polk had run the ball every play , you would have come on here and said they should have passed. Howard scored 16 points, they have scored 32 or more in all other games. Polk played great, Howard played great. Turnovers were the difference, thats just football. First game I have ever seen that may have been won because a team couldn't kick an extra point. Don't take that the wrong way, Howard does great with the two point conversion. I have heard comments about questionable calls, could someone explain to me how a fan knows there wasn't a holding penalty or a block in the back on a play, are you watching every player. I understand complaining about a hold or clip that you see that is not called, but to complain when a referee calls holding or clipping is ridiculous because you can't be seeing every individual player.
  5. #12 Marcus Taylor - Polk County High School #80 Grant Rumble - Cleveland High School
  6. Always amazes me that you can't use derrogatory terms when referring to minorities, but a person can use a derrogatory term like "igonorant redneck" to refer to white, country folk all day and no one says a word. Meigs by 14. Good luck to all.
  7. I saw Polk scrimmage at Cleveland against Cleveland, William Blount, and Baylor. Throw in South Pitt, and you have some pretty tough competition. Any four of those teams would coast through 3-3A. Polk held their own and made a decent showing at the Cleveland four way. 3-3A 1. Howard 2. Polk 3. Notre Dame 4. Meigs
  8. I would agree with almost everything stated by old warhorse, except I might leave Polk off of the dominated list, 2006 was Meigs' first victory over Polk in the last 6 seasons. Not to take anything away from what Meigs does. Over the past 15 years they have been consistent. But, I believe in general, 3-3A doesn't get much respect, I think it goes back to when this region only had 5 teams. The way to earn respect is to win first round playoff games, and that hasn't happened lately, maybe this year will be the year. I see this region as a total toss up between ND, Polk, Howard, and Meigs.
  9. Charlie Murphy is pulling for PC, because the only team to give them a game in the playoffs was a little #4 seed from region 3. The weak, little, red headed step child of a region. GO PCHS !!
  10. What does Ooltewah have? Besides great athletes and multiple weapons on offense, they have something that hasn't been mentioned on this thread yet. BENNY MONROE, thats all that needs to be said. He just builds dynasties and wins championships.
  11. Charlie wants to throw a name out, based only on High School Football ability, Dante Hickey from Cleveland during their dynasty of the early-mid 90's. Anybody that saw this kid run, knows he was one of the best, if not the best.
  12. Nice post Muffin! Not sure what it has to do with Sycamore V. Pearl Cohn, but good job!
  13. We have finally found the secret to Maryville's success, the REFEREES! (sarcasm) To read Rhea Co. fans complaining about referees, bad calls, low class, etc, is really funny. Rhea County is known far and wide as the worst place for "home-cooking" and lack of class, from little league to high school! They start early!
  14. Charlie Murphy is going to pick Sycamore in this one, Pearl was lucky to make it out of the first round against Polk County. Of course my post may be 3-3A tinted. Sycamore by 10.
  15. There is an exception if both teams are from the same region. Higher seed gets to host. See TSSAA.org. http://www.tssaa.org/Handbook/football.pdf Page 2, Section III, item C.
  16. No problem titans89, Congratulations to 4-3A. Looks like these were some great games, except for the Meigs vs Sycamore.
  17. Charlie sure would like to see a Polk vs Notre Dame rematch in round 2. And a Meigs vs Howard. Before you start Big Cuntry, I know its not likely. Save your fingers. Charlie will be travelling to Decatur next week for Meigs in round 2 though!
  18. Charlie Murphy won't argue football State Titles, the current teams in 4-3A may have some, but regions and classes change every 4 years. Charlie does know that the last time these regions got together there was a 3-3A team in the semi's, not a region 4-3A team. Notre Dame vs Macon Co. W 39-0 Notre Dame vs Pearl Cohn W 31-7 Notre Dame vs White House W 14-13
  19. Charlie Murphy thinks you should pray that Coacht doesn't run out of userID's. And everyone else should pray that your manager at Mcdonald's finds out your spending all your time on the internet. That free wifi is for the customers, not the employees.
  20. Notre Dame is muched improved, sure, I guess Meigs has went backwards since week 3. Yeah Right! Sycamore will be lucky to get 100 total yards. Meigs may only win 14-0, but they will take the ball and they will have a 8 minute drive, then they will score on a 3 play drive that takes 1:30. They can grind it out or they can air it out. And get the ice packs ready because when you get hit by a Mobriant, you will remember it, (or you may not). That tough part is after the LB pounds you and you're happy because Meigs offense is on the field, his brother starts running over you. Everytime you turn around , you will get hit by a Mobriant!
  21. Polk always gets the "no speed" label, Charlie thinks people shouldn't stereotype. . Pearl is of course the favorite, they are #1, but don't count out the Wildcats. They will not be intimidated, remember, Polk and Meigs coaches have "cut their teeth" in a 2A region that included Tyner, so they have seen speed. They also travelled to the likes of Goodpasture and David Lipscomb during their 2A days, they will give you everything they have. Polk's kicking game is excellent, and the kicking game can turn a game. Charlie is realistic, this would be a huge upset, but a #4 team won it all last year. Coach Davis' team will come ready to play.
  22. Don't worry, Charlie will still be here, and I will still have the same userID. Thats the way Charlie sees it too, Rt-21, Meigs and Notre Dame win, Howard is more than capable to beat Station Camp, Charlie says they do, but Polk will have to hope for some key turnovers. Charlie will see you in Decatur, 2nd round! RJ thinks so too.
