Other districts have play in games as well. 7v 10 with the winner playing 2. 8v9 with winner playing 1. The regular season is important. When you have a 10 team district and you finish 1 or 2 after 18 regular season contests you have proven you should be in the region.

The last I heard she was doing better. She did have a concussion and obviously a sore neck, head and face. I do not think anyting was broken. I think she will be fine, she's a pretty tough young lady. It was bad but thankfully not as bad as it could have been.

Dresden has played 3 games. They opened on the road with Madison Academic. A loss but had a chance to win. Look at their roster. 1 senior, very limited experience. The rest are juniors, soph, and freshmen. Again players with limited experience. They lost to Westview. Pat Summit would not have beaten Westview with Dresden's roster. Beat Bradford. Yes, Bradford is younger than Dresden but a win is a win. If you think the kids can go farther, how far do you expect them to go? Many people have unreal expectations. Inexperience and injuries are hurting them obviously but it is only a few weeks in. Do not forget the district is very talented. Give the guy a chance. Do you want the job?......I did not think so! If you do send your application to Weakley County Schools.

Does someone that played at the college level have an advantage as a coach over someone that did not play in college?

You may not be jealous but you need to get your facts straight if you are going to post on coacht. #2 graduated last year and on top of that he only played in about 2 games. If you haven't seen a team play this season please do not bother posting unless you are talking about a team that you know something about.

South Fulton defeated Lake County in the 2nd game. Dresden defeated Bradford in the 1st game. SF and DHS will play Saturday Feb. 26 at 6:30.

What was her % from the field? I do not remember her taking too many shots. People who know the Lady Lions, and basketball itself for that matter, realize that it takes more than one person to help win in this district and region. Bottom line is that her team won. She may not have scored many points but she did take care of the ball. Isn't that what a point guard suppose to do? That is why it is a team game. It is not about individual stats, it is about winning and doing whatever it takes to help your team win. Levister, Quinton, Hughes, Rook, and Dubruiel all played well and filled their roles. You take any of their contributions out of course they do not win. However, Bailey had a lot to do with their success by taking care of the ball and getting them into the right places. Bottom line is that if Bailey would have scored 25 a game and lost the district championship, she and her teammates would have been disappointed. Not one player alone carries the Lady Lions, that is what makes them a good team. I repeat,team!

Thanks for the help. We have beaten some good teams. Some quick, some big. However none were big and quick. We sometimes get into bad habits of not blocking out because we are big. We won't get away with not blocking out Saturday.

Thanks! I knew they did not have that large an 8th grade class. They were beaten twice by Caywood and only by a few points. We have size(6'3,6'2,5'11) However our guards are small although quick. (5'6,5'4). My big kids weigh 190,170-and athletic. We have lost once with a tournament game tonight against Rutherford who beat us 56-54 once and we beat them 43-31 once as well. Who are their best , with my small guards I may have to junk them. I do not like playing all out zone all of the time. They sound much like us but bigger. Tough 1st round draw but I guess to win you got to beat someone good anyway.

Spanarkle, I think Hilham elementary is in Overton County. If so, I bet they play Allons and Rickman. May even play Livingston Middle. Might be a start anyway.

Tournaments for the districts are held at Gleason and Lake County. The region will also be played at Gleason.

The teams are classified according to 8th grade enrollment. The larger the 8th grade class, the higher the classification. 4A is usually around 100 and up to around 125. It also depends on how many schools with similar 8th grade enrollments are invited. They supposedly try to even out the classifications with 9-10 from each. Our high school is single a but the middle school either competes at the 3a or 4a level in Springfield. It is an invitational tournament. Teams are seeded by record.

Although Gleason, Dresden, South Fulton are capable of beating Trenton until they do it is a mute point. Trenton has not lost to a single A school for about 4 years. I think the last team to beat them was Gleason. Trenton has to be the favorite. Unlike other years, I believe the gap between Trenton and other schools is not as wide especially with the loss on Yancey. It could be interesting since the regional is at Gleason. Looking forward to it. As for Union City being in the district, it will be interesting. They are getting some better. Their athleticism could cause some problems on any given night.

Dresden got off to a really good start, while GF missed some shots early. Smith uncharacteristically turned the ball over and Dresden's guards had some run out baskets. Greenfield closed to within 7 at the half. The 1st part of the third quarter went back and forth with Roberson and Shane doing most of the damage for each team. Reynolds hit some tough mid-range jumpers as well. GF made a run in the 4th to tie and eventually take the lead by 1. Roberson had a critical three point play off an offensive rebound late. Dresden made FT's but GF still had a chance to tie. Shane got the ball in the lane and had a makeable shot, for him, but missed. Dresden rebounded and was fouled. They made 1 ft and GF had the ball with about 15 seconds and down 3. Smith was forced to take a 3 and missed, ball out of bounds to GF with 1.6 seconds. With all keying on Shane and Reyonlds, GF came up with a play where Paschall set a screen and rolled out to the 3 point line. He was wide open, no one within 10 feet. It was close but just off the rim. Good ballgame by both teams. Both teams showed some heart and mental toughness. Should be an interesting District Tournament.
