  1. So you haven't seen the townhouses that were built on Sparta pike or the apartments by the school or all the houses being built within 5 or so miles of watertown? The town can't grow, but the surrounding area is. Why do you think watertown is now 3a instead of 2a. Growth.
  2. Watertown is unfortunately growing. More and more farmland being sold. However, most Watertown people do not want it to grow. Most want to keep it a small town. It's what makes Watertown different from the rest of Wilson county.
  3. And I agree it was awfully close either way.
  4. Just read the comments in the link. Even the kickers dad did not disagree with the call and an assistant coach from GH said it was wide left by 6 feet.
  5. Guess it's just my bad eyes. I still don't see anything that makes me believe the kick was good. To me, these pictures show nothing at all. Editing my post....I do see something. GH fans not celebrating a supposed game winning field goal. If that kick was good, why is everyone just standing there? But again, what happened in the rest of the game.
  6. Watched the film several times. Kick sure looked wide left. You can clearly see all ball to the left of the goal post and the ball blocks the yellow of the post. Looks like a good call. What happened in the rest of the game? I think most would have expected GH not to have any trouble. LaVergne must have played well for it to be a close game.
  7. Being down like that, many teams would have folded. That fight will serve well come playoff time.
  8. It's not new, but it has gotten exponentially worse. The majority of kids in the 80s and 90s still had great pride in the neighborhood schools. The exceptions were those that went to private schools or another metro school. Now the exceptions are the kids going where they are supposed to go. Too many ways around the system and those in charge don't seem to care.
  9. You aren't going to find too many old school coaches anymore, the kind that coach their kids that come to them and make them better. Now it's more about "I need to find some more players." It's not just metro. It's everywhere in metropolitan areas. Now you have to recruit your own kids to stay in your building. And if you don't, someone else already is. Always a way to end up at another school. Take a class, get in the IB program for a semester, go for the Cambridge program, pay a water bill, say you are living with someone else, etc. Not sure it will ever go back, probably just get worse as growth occurs.
  10. Is RP similar to the SCA teams Fitzgerald had? I remember they were absolutely loaded.
  11. Blackman middle will never play rose parks. Rutherford county middle school football is very competitive and they play a full schedule. You could possibly get a scrimmage, but that's about it. Now, if you want to go youth league, contact Nate Shearon. He is an Overton HS alum that runs the Blackman Youth League. He is imo the best in the business as he runs an elite program from the top down.
  12. Personally, I would say Brunetti is already in conversation for top five or so in metro. To me, the difference between Brunetti and the others is longevity. Coutras left metro and became a college coach. Elrod, Pigue, and Fitzgerald were all very good assistant coaches after being head coaches. Aydelott went to Riverdale. Who knows what those guys would have accomplished if they had stayed as head coaches in metro. Brunetti has stayed and has PC at the top of metro and in contention for a state title every year. Not a PC guy but you have to respect the job he has done.
  13. That seems to be the case. Wonder what happened?
  14. I think PC could compete in 6A. CR has done it in the recent past. And honestly there isn't much difference between PC and a team like Whitehaven from Memphis. If you have a line and a few studs, you can compete.
  15. If PC was in with the Antioch region, they would do just fine. This year they would be region Champs and then who knows how far they would get. If they were with the Overton region, it would be tougher but still a playoff team. JMO
  16. Firebird who is then? I can see EN. I'd say they are both capable of being 2nd. It's hard to say since they don't play same teams.
  17. FB247 I am not connected in any way to PC, so to get the real reason why you would have to ask fbfan or firebird. But I always thought PC was pretty smart for playing up to 4A but not going to 6A. My reasoning is money. Look at the teams in 3A compared to who PC has in 4A. Which would provide for better gates? Do the same for 6A. When PC was in 3A, for the most part you could get good gates out of CPA, DL, and even EN. As to the rankings, right now I would have PC first then Antioch. I think it was NCS that said Antioch was going to shock some people. Whoever it was has been correct.
  18. Congrats to Antioch. Battle of Hobson Pike will be good. Hope you are doing well RTB.
  19. Got a great life, very blessed. And I'm pretty sure I did just fine as a coach. Left metro on my terms and left coaching on my terms. Haven't said a negative thing about anyone. Even said I think what JS is doing at Centennial might be his best yet. The boards arent what they once were. Its either a race issue or people get all in their feelings over some soft stuff. Whatever. You obviously know who I am. Reach out and you can tell me all about your great accomplishments.
  20. East won a region title before JS. No history made there. He did go to 2 title games which was historic for EN football. Credit to him. As for Centennial, they were 8-3 last year. And at this point last year they were 4-1. JS isn't building anything there. The foundation is set. JS may very well be building his own legacy, and if that is his goal, good for him. But he hasn't built anything else. EN was built by Bubba Spears and then B. Waite. Bubba got football at EN. Waite won the first region title and beat PC that one time. Haha I'll give JS credit and say he took EN to a whole other level, but EN was already East Nasty at that point. Ball got the stadium and surrounding area built. As for Centennial, they were 4-1 at this point last year. They finished 8-3. Centennial this year is 5-0 with Nolensville, Brentwood, Page, and Hillsboro left. Again, he may take Centennial to another level, that remains to be seen, but he is certainly not building from the ground up. If he really wanted to build a legacy, he would have taken Antioch, Overton, Stratford, or even stayed at EN.
  21. I never said he can't coach, just think Harris is better. Honestly, I think the job JS is doing at Centennial might be his best so far. He is doing an outstanding job at Centennial and has them looking prime for a deep playoff run. As for his time at EN he had studs. Not saying anything at all about his coaching. But it's not a knock on him to say he had talent. You don't make it to a championship game without some dudes. If you look back at Glencliff when they were actually good, they had some dudes, Dobbins in particular. No knock on that staff, but the players made a huge difference.
  22. Hurricane, for your first part there is no sour grapes or anything like that. I simply think the current staff is better. As far as taking over a team that hadn't done anything, I do believe EN had some success and J just took it further. But if you want to go there and say J built EN, why didn't he take Antioch when it was open or Overton? As for the race issue, don't bring it up to me. Go back and read some of my posts. There are plenty of good coaches from metro to mention of both races. There are plenty of bad ones too. I think the job Brunetti does at PC year in and year out sets the bar in metro. I think Armstrong is one of the best coaches metro has ever had. Richard Coure from WC did a great job back in the day. Great conversation going then race has to be brought up. That is the sad part. That's one of the reasons why I stayed away from the boards for awhile. This is supposed to be about football.
  23. CBG you of all people should know facts as you call them can be misleading. You're a businessman if I remember correctly. Data can always be manipulated to get the results you want. EN does indeed have the same record. However, to this point they really haven't played anyone worth gauging against. Looking at last years opponents to this point on the season, EN really had not played anyone of importance either. So the records don't really matter imo. What does matter is the level of coaching and the players. I think the current EN staff is better. But I think the senior heavy team of players from last year were better. As I'm sure you know, good coaching can help players grow. This week will be a great test. Should be a great way to see exactly where EN is and where they need to improve to make another deep playoff run.
