  1. I agree TP will not happen but doesn't he have a relative at Westmoreland? Wonder if there would be any interest there?
  2. Oakland played Riverdale, Brentwood, and Maryville this year. Yes WC played Oakland the closest but I do not think I would go as far as to say WC provided the best competition for Oakland. All three of the schools I mentioned beat some pretty good teams. WC best win was arguably Cookeville at 6-4. WC had a great year and had a great player that carried his team. Let's leave it at that. Still thinking this will be a little closer than most. Oakland will probably win but if Brentwood can limit big plays and cause a turnover or two they could make it a decent game.
  3. I think Oakland wins fairly big but some of these comments are a little off in my opinion. Midtn you said there might not have been an easier path to this game than Brentwood. How exactly was Oakland's path more difficult? I know Oakland played Maryville and all the respect to them but who else did Oakland really play that was tougher than Brentwoods competition? And you said Brentwood wouldnt win a road game at Whitehaven. Why is their name even brought up when they didn't play at all? I also think you really cant look at the regular season meeting as a basis for this game. Give Crawford a little respect and his ability to come up with a better game plan given more time to prepare. Afterall, there was a time when he was nearly Oakland's head coach. Glad we have made it this far to even be having this game and this conversation.
  4. I think he was trying to be funny. Rang name comes up often for openings.
  5. Howdoitknow is a little salty this morning. Haha ballinup I do not believe is on a court or field anymore. Pretty sure his high school eligibility is gone. As for SC, great season and no matter what happens going forward they should be very proud. But let's not just give them the penthouse yet. They still have a ways to go. Beating Fairview was a huge deal, beating an EN team with a losing record not so much. Now, knock off PC then that will be another huge accomplishment. Great season either way.
  6. Y'all should both try and keep this game even though I know it will not happen. It's always a lot of hype leading up to the game. I can't say it's a rivalry since East has only won once. Nonetheless it's a great game for metro.
  7. Yes only problem is there are only 4 metro 6A schools. Overton, McGavock, Antioch, and CR. Come on now that would have been silly for a number of reasons. Who would these 4 get for their 7 non region games? Who would this region be paired with for playoffs? And why would this be fair to any other 6A school. Essentially all 4 of these schools would qualify for the playoffs regardless of the record. We have already seen an 0-11 metro team. Not again please.
  8. Did your HC send in nominations? Is your head coach a member? If yes to both then which seniors on your team deserved to be there this year?
  9. Howdoitknow you are always very knowledgeable. Is it a penalty to make contact with the return team before the ball goes 10 yards?
  10. I also noticed a SC player touch a Stratford player before the ball went 10 yards. If I'm not mistaken that is also a penalty that was not called. Either way we all have the ability to see still shots and video but refs don't. I think if it close as was in this case the refs will usually go with what they see. It did kind of look like this particular ref might have been influenced by the sideline.
  11. I'm going with MJ in a close game. I think the MJ defense will keep the talented RB in check for the most part. He will still get his yards but im thinking it comes down to to the 4th quarter and MJ gets a stop when it's needed.
  12. So let's say in five years FC qualifies for the playoffs and no kids are there from this incident and all the coaches are gone you think it would be fair to penalize that team if it were the first time since now they qualified for the playoffs. Come on guys. The punishment is consistent with past cases. Good luck to both schools next season. Hopefully they both learn and build from this mistake.
  13. Salem technically shelbyville is not in the playoffs so they did not earn a #2 seed. I get what you are saying but reality is neither have qualified for the playoffs based on the incident that occurred in the regular season.
  14. Salem is does affect both equally. Neither will be in the playoffs this year or next. This is what they have done in the past.
  15. I know I know. I was saying a player used the address without a coach or others involved knowing. I know the other scenario goes on as well.
  16. Voljacket it is fair based on past cases of similar circumstances. Now if you want to say is it fair for an entire team to be punished for the actions of some? I would say no but the TSSAA has been doing this for years. Is it fair for a team to be penalized because a player used an invalid address and no one else knew? It happens. Hate that this happened but learn from it.
  17. So where did the video come from and what did it show? Glad the board carried punishment. It was the fair thing to do based on past cases. Time to learn and move on.
  18. Agreed. My brother in law had it. He said it hit him a little harder than the flu. He was under the weather for about five days.
  19. I'm not arguing the rules at all. I actually thought you were by your posts. Now I see you are arguing the enforcement of the rules. All I know is from my own experience and what I have heard from others. I know where I live the 6ft for 15 minutes is what they go by. I know the area where I work is the same. Not honestly sure what others do but I would think if they shut a team down they feel like it's the best thing to do.
  20. Your comparing completely different circumstances here. What are the athletes going to push back against when the guidelines are set for all levels. Pro teams getting shut down, colleges, and yes high school. I think most are just glad to be playing period. Are some athletes playing with Covid. I'm sure they are. But at the professional and collegiate levels they are being tested. Look at the Titans, Wisconsin, TL of Clemson. The difference is high school kids and teams don't have the resources to do that across the board. So you must follow guidelines to be as safe as possible. Let's just agree to disagree. We see things differently. That's okay. Again, are you in a school building with students every day? Is your child in a school building every day? If not that is probably why you see things the way you do. If you are then you and your school or your child's school must be very blessed to be healthy and be around others that are all healthy.
  21. Pioneer I respect your position. However are you in a school building everyday? Is your child in a school building each day? Are you one who sets the CDC guidelines? Again schools are doing what they can under the guidelines set forth. What is there to push back on when these guidelines are put in place to protect students and school staff? I can tell you I get upset when a parent knowingly sends his child to school when the child is sick. Is that fair to my child? Is that fair to the other kids and teacher that will be around the kid? Now things are even more concerning because of Covid. Schools are following guidelines to protect students and school staff. How could anyone be against this.
  22. I don't know if I would go that far Golden. Your defense is pretty tough and if you are the #2 seed they have to come to you.
