  1. I understand both sides to this story. There is nothing I hate more than seeing a cocky team. I have coached against cocky teams and I hate it more than anything. All people have different personalities and therefore all players have different personalities. Because of this each player is going to show his emotions in a different way. Buc is an outgoing person. If he had not been dancing around a bit then I would have thought that he wasnt into the game like he should have been. Thats his way of getting fired up. Some players get fired up differently. Some go out there and make big plays and are fine just getting a pat on the back and a "way to go." If you saw the game, which I did, I saw all sorts of personality in that game. Players were high fiving, some were doing a little dance after a big play, some made the same kings of plays and just walked back to the huddle, and some were yelling. Its all a part of their personality. Every team has different personalities. I promise you that there are players on Ravenwood's team that are more vocal than others, some are quiet but still find a way to make plays, some probably "dance" around a bit or do something kinestic, etc. Coaches are the same way. At one point in the game I saw Rector getting pretty vocal with the sideline ref. I like what I have seen of Rector so dont think that I'm knocking him I am just making a point. Some coaches sit on the sideline and dont show any kind of emotion. Thats great for them. These same people who are knocking Buc wouldnt want to see any of my games. I get really excited during a big play, slap my players backs when they make great plays and when they come off the field, when we have a big play on offense you will see me throwing my hands up in the air or making a pumping jesture with my hands, and I scream "way to go" all the time. Its my way of showing the kids that I care about what they do. Let players play and show emotion as long as they dont taunt the other team, curse the other team, or show disrespect to the refs. Life changes. The only thing that stays the same is that everything changes. The old way was great, but that doesnt mean that the new way isnt. The game has changed. Players have changed. Its good for the game. Its exciting and I'm glad and fortunate to be living my dream and be a part of this great game. Congrats to the Bears and the coaching staff. Good luck this week Ravenwood. I think we'll see you in a few weeks in Murfreesboro!
  2. JTM beat us 28-14. Hard faught game they just made plays and we didnt. We probably played the worst we have played all year long and they played their best. Bad combination for us. Thanks for asking though and I hope you are doing well. I've seen you once or twice but you have always been at a distance. As far as the game goes I'm going to predict AHS 20 RHS 17
  3. Antioch has a great chance of pulling this one off. Antioch has to score early just as they did in the scrimmage earlier this year. I like Antioch's chances of making the "big play." McAdoo is a tall tight end with decent hands and Buchanan is the same. Antiochs QB has to play smart and try not to force things, just let the game happen. On defense Ravenwood's Oline is going to have their work cut out trying to control Antioch's DE's. Both teams are very evenly matched. Its going to come down to the cliche big plays and whoever can take care of the ball.
  4. Its kindof funny how you say only two of Antioch's players can hit. All year long we have heard of how physical Dickson Co. is. I was at the game last Friday and Antioch kicked DC's rear end all night long. DC couldnt handle 36, 88, 80, 44, etc. If it had not been for a couple of big pass plays DC wouldnt have even gotten the 3 pts. The scoreboard made the game seem close but when it comes down to it AHS dominated DC.
  5. So middle schools don't matter? I bet if you asked most high school coaches they would differ. If nothing else kids start to learn some basic fundamentals and for some middle schoolers its the first time that they have played organized sports. I know my team uses the same offense and the same defense that the high school that we feed into uses. Now their playbook is much thicker, but we run out of the same formations, we use the same terminology, we have the same packages. What high school coach wouldnt want a kid in my program for two years before coming to him? Middle schools dont matter---whatever.
  6. Actually their record is about the same. What you dont realize is that with Coker two years ago he got hurt against Overton and never recovered or got it out of his head. Brown got hurt last year against Whites Creek and didnt really recover completely either. This year the record has stayed about the same but they dont have any real star players. I give it two years and they will be a powerhouse, as long as the coaching staff stays intact.
  7. Great statement for your second post. Way to get a thread started. I could go on and on about how you dont have a clue. Let me just point out that its Hillsboro not hillsburro and hopefully your panthers play better than their fans type. This could be a great game. Both offenses are clicking. Both teams play defense well. I think this one will be close and the win goes to whoever has the ball last.
  8. Its late in the season so I will change my order slightly. Gallatin is obviously first, followed by Antioch, Hendersonville, and I will go with HuntersLane for fourth over Overton. Never thought HHS would be in the mix.
  9. I agree that the officiating was not the best ever but you make it sound as though the officials only blew calls on Hendersonville. I was there and trust me that the officials also blew calls on Antioch. The personal fouls were legitimate on both teams. If Antioch was holding all night long then so is every team out there including your commandoes. The uncalled face mask may be legitimate as well, I didnt see it but if you did then I'll take your word for it. The officials also blew a call late when they said that Hendersonvilles QB threw an incomplete pass when it was obviously a fumble that was recovered by Antioch. If you saw the game then you know that Antioch controlled and dominated Hendersonville in the first half. In the second half it was much closer but the one touchdown by Hendersonville was a joke. The pass bounced off of Hendersonville's receiver, bounced off of Antiochs db, and landed in the hands of another Hendersonville receiver. It was a lucky brake for HHS. All in all it was a good game. I never thought that HHS would make the playoffs until I saw them tonight. Now I see them being third. Good luck to both teams.
  10. Well it took me awhile but I think I finally figured it out.
  11. I will think about apologizing. Hold on. Umm....Na....No need to apologize here. Just discussing football. As far as you giving running yardage you are correct. I was just pointing out the fact that there is more to an offense than running. Also your words were that everytime a runner gets the ball the expectation is to get at least three yards. I was giving you one circumstance where that is not true. And yes most of Antioch's rushing yards and even rushing plays were Quarterback sneaks, QB off tackle runs, etc. I can only remember their F back running three plays. So yeah, that is my argument. We can go on and on like this so how bout we just end this little bickering with me saying that Gallatin is a good team and did dominate the game on both sides of the ball. However, it was special teams that was the deciding factor.
  12. I am not talking out of my rear. All I am saying is that there is more to an offense than running. You have to be able to pass to keep a defense honest. Yes Gallatins Dline did an incredible job. My hat is off to them. However Antioch was able to pass. also disagree with your comment that everytime a team runs the ball they expect to get at least three yards. How about a quarterback sneak? All around Gallatin is very fundamentally sound. They also have a couple of outstanding players, especially one of the linebackers. I expect them to go far into the playoffs. I just think that some of your comments, or stats, are actually misleading in regards to total offense. What won the game for Gallatin was special teams.
  13. In the Antioch/Gallatin game Antioch had 171 offensive yards and Gallatin had 179 offensive yards. ( Or something incredible close to those figures) The only reason why Gallatin made it a blow out is because of field position. Antioch constantly started deep in their own territory and Gallatin's starting field position was consistently deep into Antiochs territory. Figures can be misleading. You obviously proved that. Gallatin is a good football team. But they are not unbeatable. I think Overton or HuntersLane could give them all they want. Hillsboro would give them all that they want and more. A note to Gallatin fans----yes you have a good football team. But when your team is challenged for the first time will they rise to the challenge or will their confidence be shattered and choke?
  14. Who has Maplewood played thats any good? Who has WhitesCreek played thats any good and actually won against? Hillsboro I will give you but the other two, give me a break.
  15. I am going with Antioch to win the region followed closely by Gallatin, Overton, and Hendersonville. I really thought that HuntersLane but rebound from the past two years but I guess not. I see a two way tie for first with Gallatin and Antioch both having one loss. Antioch wins tie breaker because of head to head action. Overton loses to Gallatin and HuntersLane. Hendersonville loses to Antioch, Gallatin, and Overton. Someones got to be on the outside looking in and that goes to HuntersLane. Hillwood and Glencliff are off the map.
  16. I know Graham is good but to say he is metros best athlete is a stretch to me. Maybe I will change my mind after the game this week. I will say the AHS wins by two touchdowns 28-13.
  17. Obviously you werent at the game then. They played great in the first half.
  18. HuntersLane always has good athletes. Antioch looked great in the first half against Clarksville. I have to go with Antioch in this one. Go Bears.
  19. I didnt think anyone would put up that many points on OHS. Either HHS is better than I thought or OHS had an off night. From what I heard their special teams killed them and turnovers. Overton will be back next week and luckily this one doesnt affect region standings.
  20. I think the old coaches did a great job, infact I dont know how Blade and his "new" staff will fill the shoes of the "old" staff. You also have to remember that just because you played for them doesnt mean that you know them better than we do. You forget that some of us were around when the one of the old coaches was playing at HHS and UT.
  21. Glad to hear someone who knows Blade to speak for him. I can kindof see what kind of coach he is, or at least more so now than before. I will say that the old coaching staff was good. They have rings to prove it. It will be interesting to see how they do tomorrow. I still say Overton wins this one because of experience and experienced coaches who have worked together longer. I would also say that Blade is probably not the best coach to ever be there. He may be in time but saying that now would be premature. You have to remember that Hillsboro has had Terry Anderson, Robert "Buddy" Brown, Baskins, Fitzgerald, Adyelot, etc.
  22. Runtheball---9/6 scrimmage at Moore, 9/14 v Oliver, 9/21 @ Apollo, 9/28 v McMurray, 10/5 @ Croft, 10/12 @ Antioch, 10/19 v HG Hill. Glad to hear that you are well.
  23. The comparison was between this years Hillsboro team and last years Ravenwood team. This years Hillsboro team hasnt won a game yet. Are you saying that you would take this years Hillsboro team over last years Ravenwood team? Doesnt matter, we'll out find out Friday night!
  24. I have a feeling a lot of Ravenwood fans will be upset to know that you compared their championship level team to Hillsboro. No comparison. Would be like comparing apples and peanuts.
  25. I'll go with the wave on this one. I saw LHS in a scrimage and although they won they didnt show me too much. GHS is going to have a strong year.
