  1. OK makes sense now, they already added the 6th 0.5 team last week in their standing since Bledsoe were already guaranteed to be in the category.
  2. I agree but if the link is correct, CCS have 7 opponents with 0.5 or better after this week.
  3. Still does not make sense to me, CCS played Beldsoe who have a better than 0.5 record so their 2nd tie breaker should be better than Manassas according to the TSSAA standings last week http://tssaa.org/footballplayoffs/wildcard.cfm?class=3A
  4. It looks as if they have given Manassas a playoff berth over CCS. From their own websire I thought CCS would be ahead of Manassas based on teams with a .5 record or better.
  5. Something looks wrong on the TSSAA release. It shows Manassas as qualifying. Changes everything
  6. As an aside, I have seen the TSSAA provide a waiver. We had a kid here at CPA about 4 years ago transfer to Ravenwood. I think they requested a hardship waiver and was granted it and he played both Football and Soccer.
  7. Not certain that is feasible. Ensworth to PC is about 8 miles. If they moved more than 20 miles they will be out of the Metro Nashville School Area.
  8. There is also a good chance Chattanooga Christian could beat out Lewis County and end with a 5-5 record. They have Whitwell and Bledsoe County left. Whitwell is a likely win and Bledsoe is a possible win.
  9. Before everybody plans an Alcoa vs GP final, one point to consider with the playoffs is the fact that Goodpasture may end up in the eastern bracket depending upon the makeup of playoff teams. I think the TSSAA look at all the playoff teams and divide it based on geography. This means any teams from District 8 or 9 may find themselves in another bracket. We never know until week 10.
  10. Bands playing during live ball situations is illegal in Georgia. So are air horns and whistles. http://www.ghsa.net/football-rules-procedures I personally wish they would do the same here in Tennessee. I attend games to watch football, I love the atmosphere of bands between plays but wish they would be quiet when either team has the ball. College Players and NFL players don't have to deal with the distraction so I don't see why High School Kids should have to adjust to it. The Band would scream murder if the players came out and practiced punts and pass plays during the half time show and interfered with their formations etc. That being said I love genuine crowd noise.
  11. In one sense the scheme allows you to play a lower classification if they have a good program. For instance if a 3A wanted to play South Pittsburg, a win gets you 100-40=60 but also gets you 5 times the wins that South Pitt has (5 times 9=45). Therefore you still get 105 points. This is still good since you can play down provided you don't go seeking easy wins. Maybe there could be one exception per season to allow for existing rivalries where you keep the 100 points if you win regardless of their classification..
  12. I really like this approach, especially as it discourages playing cup cake schedules so you can make the playoffs. What I appreciate is the fact that with this scheme East Lit made the playoffs playing in a tough district with a 5-5 record. I have to admit I was not too impressed when I saw that they did not make it and Lewis County did with a 3-7 record.
  13. Binns, I dropped of a 4-class plan for D-1 today at TSSAA headquarters. Four classes and games make sense. What size gate can you expect for a noon and three game on a Friday????? 302 D1-Football schools - 75-76 per classification. Move up private schools one classification. That way rural 1A schools won't have to play private schools at all, making them happy. Move down public schools as privates move up or schools choose to play up until about the same number of teams are in each classification. Divided classes into 8 regions, 9 to 10 teams in each region. Play a round-robin schedule, playing out of district to get your 10 games. Then the post-season is like the old days, 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3, 3 vs 2 and 4 vs 1 of your adjoining region. OVERALL RECORD SHOULD NEVER COME INTO PLAY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. What do you think? Bernard Childress has a copy of this as of 11:15 today when I drove it to TSSAA headquarters and dropped it off... (they are right down the road from the office) I think this a great idea.
  14. I think the BCS is easy compared to this. At least they reward you for playing tough opponents.
  15. If Childress is prepared to tackle this head on, I think he can regain a lot of respect as the new TSSAA leader. It is comforting to see that he understands the positions of the coaches etc and it sounds as if he wants it fixed sooner than later. Mathis from Tullahoma talks about tweaks, to me that sounds like putting a band-aid on a severed leg.
  16. Still way too complicated for my liking. I think the easiest would be to break everything down to four classifications total (this would help travel) and the top 4 in each go to the playoffs. Deja Vue...Absolutely! but at least we understood it.
  17. I think this is the worst idea the TSSAA have had in a long time. 1) It is overly complicated (as proven yesterday with the TSSAA mistakes) 2) I agree that 6 classifications is way too many. 3) Coaches and Players like to have a good idea of who they may be facing in round 1 two to three weeks prior to the final regular season game not the morning after. They also want to clearly understand what is required to even make the playoffs going into the final weeks. 4) It encourages teams to pad the statistics and play easy games in order to qualify for the playoffs. That is of zero interest to either team and certainly not for the fans. 5) Teams with 1-9 and 3-7 records are making it to the playoffs and others with 5-5 are left out. 6) In my view they have generated less interest with the 3a/4a and 5a/6a combined district. I want to see more teams who we may actually have to face in the playoffs. Also the attendance has not been there from my perspective. We played a large 4a school and I counted less than 20 fans in the visiting bleachers. Someone half joking stated on these boards that it would be more successful if they let everybody into the playoffs. Sadly they are correct because it would at least be fairer than the system we have now. I have never been a huge fan of the BCS system in College Football but the Z-Plan is infinitely worse.
  18. I agree and they also messed up 3a and 4a. I hate this new structure. It is complicated and basically unfair to teams who play in tough Districts who decide to select tough out of district games during the regular season. My team would not have made it regardless but when I look across the board, I see several teams left out of the playoffs and others in with losing records. The good news is of course our tax returns will seem easy after navigating our way through this mess the TSSAA have implemented.
  19. I think we have a new TSSAA commercial. So simple even a Physics Nobel Prize Winner could do it.
  20. Solomon this system is not hard. I don't understand how the TSSAA can screw this up. I had what I though the correct 3A bracket should be up by 10:30 last night. Gerry you are working with a huge advantage over the TSSAA. You are using your brain.
