  1. I understand that BA agreed to follow under the TSSAA rules and regs. but under current TSSAA rules under Article II Section 17 they were not in violation becasue it states that they cannot use the use of undue influence on a student, parents, etc...to secure or to retain a student for athletic purposes. so if the student has already enrolled or signed a contract and then is contacted he should be fair game because he is in BA's system as a student and is not tryin to be retained. Also they shouldnt be in violation because under Article II Section 8 an eight grade student is eleigble to participate for a member school if he/she is enrolled at the school students below eighth grade are not....repeating eighth graders are also not. So that should mean that during the summer if they are enrolled at the school they can participate in summer activities. Also if a student coming from a public school and cant be contacted from the private school they are attending the next year then how will they have a chance to participate in fall sports the next year. If they have to wait untill school starts then that almost counts out any fall sports participation.
  2. i guess im not gettin it but bein asked to attend practices doesnt really affect if they are going to attend the school because they had already done the papers and were set to go there. i could understand if they were looking and the coach had sent the letters before they signed or if he had been pushing for them to come to BA before they signed. is that what happened?? were the letters sent during the school year or summer and is there a date that you have to wait for before you can contact a student coming from another school about practicing and playing?? maybe i dont know the whole story but if they were rising freshmen and they were contacted to attend football practice isnt that the same thing as when the other 8th graders from the other middle schools have meetings with the high school coaches to hear about the program and find out when practice starts and how to get on the team before the season and sometimes even when they are still in middle school?
  3. I was thinking the same thing sorta. If i understand the situation correctly the students were already enrolled at the school and had signed to go there and then the letters were sent out. i dont see a problem with that. what is the difference between a coach sending out a letter saying he is extending the opportunity for a player to go to training than the school sending out a letter giving a student the opportunity to do some other summer activity or camp at the school. I mean if you are already enrolled then its not really recruiting.
  4. that was the vandy 7 on 7 not western ky and all im saying is maryville has been a powerhouse for a longgg time and how many times has hillsboro beaten them? well see what the scores are when yall get back from alabama ill talk to u then
  5. wow i didnt see that coming at all. If i understand the situation correctly the students were already enrolled at the school and had signed to go there and then the letters were sent out. i dont see a problem with that. what is the difference between a coach sending out a letter saying he is extending the opportunity for a player to go to training than the school sending out a letter giving a student the opportunity to do some art class or some other summer activity or camp at the school. But i think since the ruling has already been made i dont think they can try to get another ruling by bringing up another case unless the circumstances change and it isnt the same case twice. At the U.S. Supreme Court level im not sure if there is a way to appeal a ruling but if there is a way to try and appeal i would expect it to come up in the next week or so and if not id say this battle is over for good.
  6. I heard hillsboro almost lost to CPA in the last seconds of the 7 on 7 and only won because CPA mishandled the ball on the last play which would have been the score that kicked yall out. I dont think you really realize how good those teams are gunna be down there and you wont just lose to Hoover but will lose a few games. I mean if you lose to Maryville 35-10 in the finals or w/e it was and then think you can compete with a nationally ranked team like hoover then i think you are alittle more than crazy. Im pretty sure at one point last year maryville was ranked nationally also. Im not raggin on Hillsboro they have had a good thing goin for the past few years but it hasnt been as consistent in the playoffs like Hoover and the other teams have.
  7. cant wait for that game...should be very good That will be fun to see up on the scoreboard and talk about afterwards haha
  8. I saw this article on the CoachT homepage. http://dnj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/.../706190316/1006 That is probably the worst, most selfish article i have ever seen. Who cares about the reporters its not about them its about the players and coaches and fans. Just wondering, how are the TSSAA officals selected and how often are they replaced??
  9. Josh Frohock was fun to watch...so was the overall franklin defense they really work well together
  10. no1 is sayin that he has a higher chance of gettin hurt but he is taking a big risk playin football because he pretty much has his life set because of baseball and that would blow to have all of that and then get hurt bad this year and lose it all.
  11. well put...itd be different if it was middle school maybe or like pee wee but its high school
  12. Im right there with u on the TSSAA standpoint. it seems like when it comes to things important to the people that deal directly with the sport they arent willing to do anything but they will take away practice time and try to reduce schedules and other things to make us all mad i wouldnt miss them for a second if they went away. how are the officials selected?
  13. yesssss good post. that and the kids younger than that that just go cuz its a high school game
  14. I was tryin to find the D2 videos and they didnt upload i guess cuz it still says D2 videos up next monday
  15. It makes some sense just to get the game over with but that sounds like something you would do for a team of little kids. how are the tssaa officals selected because they havent been making alot of ppl that happy lately, and i think coaches should have more say in what happens.
  16. sooo pretty much it was like pressler from duke he was fired but those words werent used. maybe they will get some1 in there that can actually make cenntennial look like competition.
  17. haha thats gunna be fun...i bet mcconnell will step up to the spot except hes been reffin this year so i dont know which he will choose.
  18. The NCAA Semis are on ESPN HD and i guess ESPN 2 also not sure. Delaware is playing JHU right now and then Duke and Cornell is right after this game. Delaware is actually pretty good i was surprised at that.
  19. come on man thats steppin 2 far. everyone can have an opinion there are more teams than just these 2 that are good he just is from the area and probably doesnt watch alot of lacrosse (ive talked with him in football boards hes a good guy give him a break) and i doubt u do either cuz of your lack of respect for 2 very good teams there is no way you can call either one of them garbage...garbage...where have we heard this from...ballasofthesouth or w/e.
  20. im not speakin for a specific team on this but dude you need to chill its not that big of a deal. Brentwood didnt have the greatest year this year they had some rough games that they barely got. Cookeville and Collierville also are still in the developing stages and i think Cookeville will be restructuring as will Franklin next year. They both and losing some very key players and will have to get their teams built back up. Alot of the other DII teams had rebuilding years and this year wasnt that year for some of the teams that did well. Catterton even said in an article that he lost alot of players and was working to fill it in. I think thats gunna be the case for more teams in the coming season. I could see Franklin, Brentwood, and Cookeville moving up in the next 2 years but i dont think it would be the smartest year for them to do it untill they have done all of their restructuring. You dont know each team personally and what is going on idividually and it all comes down to the players parents and coaches about what they think is best for their team. So quit doggin these teams to move up they all will eventually but will do it when they feel its the best time. while ur at it why dont u go tell maryville to move up to 5A football since they have 10 state championships (1970,1976,1978,1998,2000,2001,2002,2004,2005,2006) thats 3 in a row with only one year keeping it from 7 in a row. o and ravenwood did a great job this year they really are a great team and deserved it this year more than anyone.
  21. Franklin wins 17-5 over collierville
  22. matt young also had a good bunt that turned into a tripple for him and i think brought in 1 or 2 runs
  23. If Brentwood wins though then its not such a problem for yall. I agree that the schedule isnt the greatest this year (I personally liked how they did it last year on friday night and saturday at noon) but we just have to deal with it and play. Looks like you don't have much of a problem staying up late since you posted at 12 midnight and you most likely have school and practice today.
  24. too bad franklin doesnt fit in that post becuase MUS MBA and Ravenwood are in two different divisions
