  1. McEwen is a much improved team this year, but I just don't know if they have the speed to stop Eagleville. An advantage for McEwen is that they are at home and they will play, and play intense, and I don't think they'll let this one end up like last year at all. Eagleville, on the other hand, has a fast defense and is fast and athletic on offense aswell. I'm going to have to go with Eagleville on this one(in a close one until late) because though McEwen is improved, so is Eagleville. Eagleville-35 McEwen-21
  2. I think White House-Heritage has a good chance of winning, seeing they have continually improved every week. Cascade-24 Heritage-21 -the score could be flipflopped.(I'm hoping this is true.)
  3. I know I'm new on here, but a word of advice...it's probably not a good idea to call people "idiots" on here.
  4. I expect Sycamore to win big after the 28-21 loss to a, at least I thought, unimpressive Pearl Cohn team. Sycamore 42 Harpeth-0
  5. Cheatham has surprised me over the past few weeks with the "we never give up" attitude so I think this one is going to be close. If Cheatham can play their assignments on defense and get their offense(which has not been bad)going they could win. Cheatham, strength wise, is not a week team so I'm looking for a good one. Cheatham by 3
  6. Goodpasture has shown some brilliance on the offensive side this year as well.
  7. I know everyone is tired of me talking about Clarksville Academy but... Marcus Darby and Zac Burkhart -Darby had 9 carries for 144 yards against Eagleville and it would have been 219 had the holding penalty not been called. - Burkhart has definitely proved himself as a playmaker this year as he has more than 300 yards rushing this year.
  8. Can we say "Steroids"? There is no way anyone in highschool football, 270, 300, even 350 lbs, could possibly naturally benchpress 535 pounds(unless of course they have failed several years in a row, and even after that the TSSAA wouldn't allow them to play). It takes years upon years to get to that level. There are NFL lineman that can do that much, and college players who are able to do that much, but in highschool? unheard of. Of course, highschool kids and players tend to overexaggerate weigtlifting numbers from time to time. IF true, that is AMAZING! The most I have heard of is 450 by a guy from, I believe, Brentwood Academy in the mid 90's who went on to play D-I. He was about 275-280.
  9. Jo Byrns- Colton Morris CA- Thomas Leamon White House Heritage- Brian Brown
  10. I just found the offensive statistics for both teams in the game. CA-242 yds. Grace-185 yds. CA Rushing- Burkhart 10-81, Dyer 9-13, Darby 10-57, Smith 6-65 Grace Rushing- Harvey 7-24, Blake 19-74, Cross 7-19, Johnson 3- -4, Graham 1- -8 CA Passing- Dyer 3-8-26-1td Grace Passing- Blake 5-12-80-1td -Also, on another note, CA's Leamon had 13 solo tackles, 3 sacks, and a fumble recovery.
  11. Congratulations for the eagles, I wish them a good rest of the season. Their QB is something else and #1 is a good runningback. I will say that Grace got lots of breaks in the game, but won it fair and square. I think CA has a chance against eagleville if they work on doing the simple things, like hanging onto the football. If they can get some turnovers for their side this next game capitolize on them, and hang onto the football, then they can and will win. The problems are definitely on offense and defending the pass is a problem on defense, which is something eagleville tends to do in vast ammounts.
  12. Thomas Leamon- has 31 tackles(19 solo) and 1 int in 2 games so far for Clarksville Academy.
  13. Livingston is down and Station Camp is having an amazing year thus far. With Station Camp's high powered offense, I think they should win. This doesn't rule out the fact, however, that Station Camp could not show up to play. An upside for Livingston is that Station's defense tends to be a little prone to allowing just as many points as they score. If Livingston is able to take advantage of this on every or most of their drives they may be in good shape to win. Station Camp-35 Livingston-20
  14. I do know that last year, Grace beat the Academy by 6 and didn't win another game after that. I know Grace is a lot better this year, on offense especially. I really don't see how this game could be a 38-19 deal. Grace is good...buy they aren't that good. Clarksville Academy is a little better than a Silverdale Academy or a Zion Christian(I could actually jump the gun and say "A LOT" better". To be honest, Grace will probably get 5-6 wins this year, like last year, and if they get better every week, may go to the playoffs. I definitely don't want myself or anyone to get anybody on this board stirred up over this topic because hey, it's a game that's supposed to be fun to talk about.
  15. I don't think there is any reason for a child to play football until at least middle school. I think 7th or 8th grade is the earliest any child should start football, and even then it's too early for some. I think a child needs to learn how to harness their aggression at those ages and that's hard to learn on a football field. I also think parents get too caught up in these little league sports these days to say the least. If you go to some games you'll see what I mean pretty quick. They need to have white-coats there to supervise some of these lunatics. Sports have become another type of baby-sitter in a way. Parents are too busy running little kids all over creation from event to event and miss out on a whole childhood in the process. What is the rush anyway? Let them play summer league baseball. But heck, even some of those travel leagues for kids 9-12 years old are way too much for that age. There's 5 full years for a kid to learn to play football starting in 8th grade if they and their parents want to, but I say let them enjoy being a kid while they can. They will be able to enjoy the game better I think.
  16. I haven't seen Greenbrier play, but saw Marshall play at home in week zero against a solid Sycamore team. The Tigers lost 27-20, but it really wasn't that close for most of the game. They turned it over 3 times in the 1st half in that game, so they are very susceptible to the turnover bug(especially Hightower; he desperately needs to work on securing the ball). Their offense looked strong at times, but they'd get a nice drive going and then have a mental lapse or turn it over. I doubt Greenbrier will be able to stop Don'ta Hightower, but they can slow him if they can limit him from getting through the first line into the secondary, because he will wear out their backers and DB's in a hurry (he's a very very big boy). If Cavalla O'neal is now playing QB they are going to be even tougher to defend because he was a dangerous weapon as a receiver and runner when I saw him. However, Greenbrier has nice tradition, they have a lot of pride, and they are coming off a win, so they will be tough to beat at home even if they are a little down. I expect a tight game. If Marshall County doesn't give it away like they did against Sycamore they should win, but if Greenbrier can get a couple turnovers it could go the other way just as easy.
  17. You have to consider though that Grace is traveling all the way from Chattanooga to play in this game. If there's one thing I know, that thing is that they will be tired when they get there and may not be ready to play the game.
  18. I think CA will be fired up in this game because they wanted the win against Heritage bad. Thomas Leamon and Zac Burkhart have already established themselves as playmakers this year. I'm looking for this to be a game a lot like last year where it was within 6 points. Grace can score points and they are improved over last year, but I think CA has the strength and the speed to shut them down on defense. To win, CA has to get the offense going, they showed bursts of what they are capable of against White House-Heritage, they just need to do that every drive.
  19. I'm going to say Clarksville Academy because everyone has underestimated them this year, yet they can and will be competitive this year.
  20. Harpeth should win this game unless Nashville Christian comes out to play.
  21. A team that just beat a team like Huntington is going to be pumped up the following week, and are going to feel on top of the world. Judging that Stewart Co. lost to Lewis County, and are going to probably be a little down, I would say this game's going to get a little ugly, unless they make a statement. Camden-45 Stewart-14
  22. This game is going to still be a good matchup. Sycamore will win this one though. Why? answer= Austin Lohin He's got the talent to play at the next level with his speed and he's a major playmaker for Sycamore. Station Camp is a VERY GOOD football team this year, their running back is quite possibly one of the best in 3a and they will probably win the region. That being said, Sycamore is not "mediocre".
  23. I agree, overall CA played better than White House-Heritage. I think if CA had just a couple more players they would have surely won. They came out with a fire the first possession of the game, which is just what they needed. They had 0 turnovers in the game and played a good game on defense, regardless of the stats. I think CA can get up to 7 wins this year if they continue to get better and rapidly progress like they have, no joke.
  24. yep, 0-0 tie. the game will be postponed until the next day.
