Exactly right. Under the Div 1 rules they would be stuck with a small enrollment having to play schools with twice as many kids. They could never legally offer tuition assistance to a kid that plays any athletics; if the school grows in enrollment, they get rewarded by being bumped up to play the bigger boys. It's a no-win for the private school & I'm amazed that there are so many that are staying in with the publics. I guess it's a fear of the unknown...
Ever notice how most of the private school haters seem to live out in the rural areas? Those are the areas that don't have the overall public school problems of the large cities...when you live in an urban area and the school you're zoned for is awful, you either pack up & move away or you pay the piper and get your kids in a pvt. school.
