THSFAN:)
I WAS AT THE GAME WHERE THE GIRL WAS THROWN OUT. SHE HAD A BAD ATTITUDE TOWARD HER TEAM PLAYERS AND THE UMPS THE WHOLE GAME. THINGS JUST DIDN'T GO HER WAY AND SHE DIDN'T LIKE IT. A GIRL ON THE JV TEAM HAD GOTTEN A WARNING AT THE PLATE FROM THE UMP FOR SAYING THE F- WORD WHILE BATTING. IT'S ALL UN-CALLED FOR AND NOT A GOOD EXAMPLE FOR THE REST OF THE PLAYERS. BUT APPARENTLY THE WHOLE TEAM WAS GOING TO BE PUNISHED FOR A FEW GIRLS MISTAKES. GOOD FOR THE COACH!! IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A FUN GAME!!

sftba11freak
I know there is a difference between being very competitive and having a p*** poor attitude! I have witnessed several players from Blackman using foul language after striking out or not getting a strike called while pitching. The attitudes that some of these girls have is totally uncalled for. It makes the other members of the team look horrible. Coaches need to start sitting those kinds of players on the bench a few times and maybe that would teach them alittle respect. It kinda makes you wonder .....how and why they get by with acting like they do. Edited April 27, 2005 by sftba11freak

coachrt
"It kinda makes you wonder .....how and why they get by with acting like they do." Sounds like (1) strong players and coach wants win, no matter what (2) coach's pets (3) politics (4) coach is blind & deaf. I don't know anyone involved, just giving an opinion. I also agree that a lot of the problems with children are traced back to their enviroment at home. Edited April 28, 2005 by coachrt
ERA
I also agree that a lot of the problems with children are traced back to their enviroment at home. 825659172[/snapback] There was a father from Blackman that the Tennessean wrote an article about that was very abusive during the Blackman / Riverdale game. The column took up the whole left side of the page. What he said during the games would have caused a fight anywhere else. I was at work and didn't hear it but heard all about it. The apple does not fall far from the tree!............ thumb

I witnessed the 3rd baseman/pitcher and another pitcher actually laugh at the umpire when they didn't get a called strike. The dark headed (black haired) pitcher said "what the f**k" is he looking for those are strikes". I could hardly believe my eyes and ears, then while batting there was a strike called on her and she said "s**t" and rolled her eyes then proceeded to laugh at the ump. How pathetic is that! Someone needs to take some kind of control. Because it is apparent that the parents aren't doing anything to correct it!

I've watched almost all of their games and some of their players are out of control. The girl who got kicked out of the game Monday night is kicked off the team because it is her second time this year getting kicked out of a game. But it all goes back to the coach, she doesn't have any discipline of her team. I personally dont think that they have that great of a coach when it takes her a player getting kicked off of her team to realize she has no discipline. Coaches, players...and why on earth would an umpire let the players curse like they do...he/she should of ejected them the first time they said those words. also, if I was a parent on that team, I would of already gone to the athletic director of that school and demanded some changes in coaches. I am not on the softball team but I heard that they have gone to the athletic director and complained but I didn't hear what the athletic director said about it. I do know that the athletic director is the one who kicked the girl off of the team, not the coach. It goes to show you what no discipline on the team. To me it looks like Blackman has a lot of improving to do before next year.

I am not sure but I was told that she is a sophmore.
ERA
They should have never let Jill Booth go. They were very fortunate to have such a great coach and a great person to coach that team. In my opinion, the old school kind of coach is a dying breed. Discipline is frowned upon today by many educators. Coaches of the new school have their hands tied. There are very few school systems left (public) that will allow a coach to guide a team properly. Rewarding the ones that do good and disciplining the ones that are trouble is not the norm anymore. It is the exception. Too many of them will smile and act as if nothing is wrong while their own team is caving in all around them. Leadership skills have flown out the window with teams described by this thread. This problem is only going to get worse as the PC police has the newer coaches scared of their shadows. There is nothing better than a coach that can lead, take full responsibility and filter out all the distractions for his or her team. Very few of those left. I can only say that we have been fortunate to have a coach with ALL those qualities. A true "Old Schooler" that teaches and treats the kids as if they were his own.
