knoxnavigator
The East Tennessee Coaches Association All Star Game is set for 11am this Saturday (May 21) at Smokies Park. I know that players still in the playoffs won't come if they win on Friday, but who all is coming to play? catsbackr
This is kind of unusual timing for this type of game with the playoffs still going on. You would think that any college coaches would show up in Memphis next week if they wanted to see a lot of players in one place. impactbball
I heard it was just a senior showcase game
GradfromtheNest
Never even heard of this...
knoxnavigator
There were only seniors there last year. I know there was a least one, maybe a couple more, scholarship(s) offered at the game last year.
HTV
Under TSSAA rules, only graduating seniors who have completed their high school eligibility are eligible to play in all star games in any sport.
catsbackr
So that would mean this is a seniors only, seniors only on teams that have been eliminated from the playoffs, showcase. How do you make invites? How do you know who will be available? Sounds a little something to me.
SHS1
Seniors only. Players are invited by coaches who are members of the ETBCA. This has been going on for about 20 years. They haved played Sr. teams from upper East Tn and Chattanooga area in past years.
catsbackr
OK, sounds like a good showcase. It's unfortunate that none of the players in the Spring Fling get to attend.
davidlimbaugh
I grew up in Alabama and they had the 'Lions Club' tournament. Every county's best seniors would form an all-star team and adjoining countys would play each other in a tournament and go on from there. This has been years ago but I guess summer ball has taken the place of these types of games.....

A lot of summer teams are cranking up tournament play this weekend.
