I really haven't seen Loudon, but I think Rockwood will be very strong cause Coach Webb will do a great job in preparing them for the big games! Like Loudon and Sweetwater!

If there is one thing that should never be in question it's coach Webbs love for Rockwood football he played it and he coaches it and I know for a fact he loves it John will have his team ready to play every week he is one of the best to get the most out of the talent he has.

Coach Webb has built Rockwood into a consistent winner. When they lost Pryor, Bowman and that group a lot of people felt they might drop off last year and they went 11-2. Now they have to replace Payne, Pendergrass, Harvest and a lot more seniors. This year, a lot of those spots will be filled by sophomores. That normally isn't a good thing, but Rockwood's sophomore class is very talented. I don't think any team in this region is an automatic playoff team (outside of Alcoa), but if Rockwood's sophomores step up then the Tigers will be a playoff team

I mean no disrespect to the seniors, but they will have to get more from this year's underclassmen than the past few years. The last couple of years the majority of Rockwood's two-deep roster has been juniors and seniors. This year Rockwood will have to play more sophomores than in the past. With the exception of Bryant Allen, not many of these kids played a lot last year.

The backfield is a prime example- seniors Jesse Isham, David Morgan and Billy Moffitt while sophomores Zach Breazeale, Bryant Allen and Chase Clem will also play a lot.

I don't think the key to Rockwood's season is the play of the seniors because they'll be fine. The key will be the sophomores that start or play a lot in reserve roles.

But hey, that's just my opinion.

    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
