BnL
Final Score BBS 36 CPA 9 Score was 13 - 0 at halftime. Anthony Hathaway had three rushing touchdowns, and Justin Headden returned two interceptions for TD's. Weston Perry added a FG for Boyd. CPA got a safety on the first play of the second half. Scored on a 1 yd run with less than a minute left in the game.
divepix
Just got home from Chattanooga and the "swamp". Thanks to the classy Buc fans for a nice evening. The new visitor bleachers are very nice. It looks like the everglades there. I couldn't believe there was no problem with mosquitos. Now to the game: As I predicted, it was low scoring. Well, at least on CPA's side. CPA's offense struggled as predicted. They will get better as the season progresses. Defense didn't play too bad despite the score. They held Boyd to one TD in first half despite Boyd starting almost every drive around midfield. Other TD was an interception return. CPA's offense passed midfield 3 times in first half, but 2 of those were immediately called back after good gains for penalties and they ended up punting both times after making a first down. So they were only in Boyd's territory one and CPA defense had its back to the wall the whole first half. CPA defense forced a safety on Boyd's first possession of the 2nd half. Boyd kicks and CPA is moving the ball to try to cut it to 13-8or9. On a nice throw on 3rd and long, the CPA receiver drops a pass right in his stomach which would have been 1st down in Boyd territory. From that point on, CPA's defense has to play almost the whole 2nd half and eventually it took its toll. Defense may win games but offense has to move the ball, score a little, and give the defense a rest to make that adage work. I am proud of the CPA boys, especially the defense who defended short fields all night and kept CPA in the game until mid 3rd quarter. They gave up 3 TD's - the other 2 were Boyd interception returns on very poorly thrown balls. Boyd looked good, especially #7 who is a good QB (didn't have a good throwing night), ran well and is probably a D1 prospect as a punter. His punts and kickoffs kept CPA backed up all night. #20 is a quality back who should gain well over 1,500 yards this year. Boyd's players are disciplined and well coached and very sure tacklers. Good luck to both teams the rest of the season. Keep your heads up, CPA. The offense will start clicking after a few games and you will be fine. reaction
Boyd played a good game. I got there at half time and CPA came out fired up and got that safety. They just couldnt get any offense going. CPA will improve throughout the season, as well as Boyd. Boyds secondary looked good last night also running 2 ints back for tds. Good luck CPA the rest of the season.
divepix
For what it's worth. CPA's senior class last year was one of the strongest in its history. Had bad game against Mt. Pleasant but probably 3rd best team in state last year behind Boyd and DCA. This is a rebuilding year for them. Here is their starting team breakdown by class: Offense: 1 SR, 5 Jr., 4 So.,1 FR. Defense: 5 SR, 4 Jr., 2 SO. So they will return 16 starters next year, 10 on offense.
