Lenoir City at Knoxville Halls

I find it interesting that Hightower has ran for over 1000 yards in 7 games and his team has only 3 wins. Also, he has rushed for over 170 yards 4 times and his team is only 1-3 in those games. He must be a great runner.

Defense must be L.C.'s weakness. They give up an average of over 30 points a game. It would be much higher but Clinton and Campbell Co. have terrible offenses and only combined for 13 against L.C.

This could turn into a "see who can score the most and score last" kind of games if Halls doesn't stop Hightower or at least slow him down.

I think you have legit concern RD. My hopes are that our line will play better this week. One thought is that our defense was more concerned about stopping Powell around the corners and became weak in the middle. I don't think that will be the case this week.

I am going to say Halls 38 , L. C. 14

I agree with your comment. Especially early, it looked like Halls was too worried about Watts and worried too much about contain and started to leave the middle open. I dont know much about Lenoir City other than they got spanked by Powell and Central and correct me if I'm wrong but I dont think LC has a player like Watts to be worried about. I think Halls will step up and stop or atleast contain the Hightower kid because from these stats people are giving it looks like he is all they have. Halls wins big!

Did anyone see O'Conner's FG against Powell. I didn't have a great angle but it looked like the ball was place beyond the 40 yard line but it was called a 48 yarder. I thought it was about 51. What is the school record now?

No, it was a 48 yard field goal. The ball was put down at the 38. I had a great angle from the pressbox.

That said, the kick had a good 8 yards to spare. It likely would have been good from about 54-55 yards away.

Halls snapped back and looked pretty good tonight. The game was never really in doubt.

Halls 44 Lenoir City 20

Overall, Halls looked solid. No turnovers by the first team and not near as many penalties.

Hightower is a very good running back. He is a big play waiting to happen. He had one big play tonight.

Defensive backs were a major positive for Halls. I lost count, but I think they had 5 interceptions.

Next up for Halls is at Maryville.

    • Congratulations to Huntingdon and Station Camp. Lots of good softball in Tennessee. Alcoa been media favorite last two seasons.
    • Im more of a Basketball follower than football and like I said we play what we have, there is no going and recruiting or even talking kids into transferring…..and to rebut about Memphis teams in finals I’ve watched Memphis East and Penny Hardaway with the enrollment of a single A team play up and dominate any and all challengers for years! They aren’t the only ones either Mike Miller and son at Germantown put together that super team a couple years ago that ran through the rest of the state! Other teams from Memphis or Chatt or Nash or any large populated area pop up and are relevant out of nowhere every year because they get an influx of talent be it from a new coach or AAU affiliations it happens in football also just like any other sport! I hope these two schools that close join together and get to play the team you support, then you may see it differently! I find it funny some of you think recruiting and resources don’t matter . The county schools get very little funding also but you don’t want to get me started on that part!
    • No doubt. ORC a good dude.
    • In a total classless move, Coach Simmons once again shows his true colors. Waits till the day after school is out to let everyone know he is leaving. Fails up to a community college job after a lackluster 2 year span at GH. And do not tell me about the state run that saved a sub .500 season and plenty of whippings by Cookeville and Lebanon.  Looks like the girls job at GH is cursed. Terrible MS program/coaches feeding what is turning out to be a joke of a HS team.
