Clinton vs West

The number 3 team in AC finds itself looking at another 1-9 season. I curious to ask where are all the Clinton fans on here? When will they figure out that they aren't getting that much better despite what they say. They are losing worse now than they did under Coach Cat"loss". In what ways are they getting better and do they have a chance against West?

No i dont think Clinton has a chance against West and their little chance is even smaller now. Clintons top 2 recievers as well as their starting cornerbacks (same players) Charles "Ta-Ta" Huddleston #4, and Tony Phillips #23 quit the team and starting safety Josh Stallard is possibly out for the season w/ a hurt neck/back. So Clinton will come in to the game friday without their top 2 recievers and their whole starting secondary for the season. But Clinton will hopefully be getting better in a few years because the middle school programs keep getting better and winning middle school championships and alot of young players are playing right now

Clinton has had good middle school teams for years, Can anybody tell me what happens to them when they get to the high school The high school team is pathetic and appears to be getting worse. what's the deal? What ever happened to the kids that vandalized the Ship, bad idea.

Good middle schools teams do not necessarily mean good hs teams. Stand by Coach Shattuck, he'll get them going.

West is even more hungry than normal this year. The score in their last game is not indicative of what happened at all. They had MHS genuinely concerned thru 2 1/2 quarters. This team will win it's share of games over the next couple of years.

My hat off to Coach Cummings and staff. They know how to scheme a defense for weaknesses.

I think Clinton looked better at times this year. Their putting forth an effort and in a season like this and last year and the year before, sometimes that's all you can ask from the kids. Their's talent on that team. I'm not sure what's wrong. I wish for them they could drop down to 3A, like Carter.

great post RebelNation--West is a pretty darn good team. In any other region in the state, they would be a solid playoff team. Look how tough they played MoWest. I look for West to be pretty good next year, too.

I don't think this game will be that close. West should win by 20 or more.

I hope that the Clinton fans will stick with Shattuck and let him develop a program. This is a marathon, not a sprint. It really does hurt Clinton to be in this region because they are not going to experience a whole lot of success for a while and you hope that the kids don't get frustrated and either transfer or quit. But ya gotta play where ya gotta play. If Clinton is a 4a school in enrollment, this is it.

I was sad to read on here that Tony Phillips quit the team. I've known Tony and his family for a long time.

oskie, I was just wondering why they are good in middle school and terrible in high school. Andy's got 'em going allright. In the wrong direction.

i just think the middle school championship stuff is overblown. Look at who Clinton plays- Campbell Co schools, North Anderson Avery Trace and the two Oak Ridge Schools (who are combined when Clinton kids have to play them in hs), there are no Knox or Blount Co teams, whom they play in hs. It may or may not mean alot when they get to hs.

    • What you are saying is true about high school athletics being a privilege and not a right, but NO ONE ever knows what will happen if a case goes before a jury.  Again, I have been in a couple of jury rooms and it's always a little crazy.  That is why my prediction is you will see a settlement before the case goes to trial.
    • What rules does everyone not operate by?
    • So you want a have and have not split? Sound like the perfect ramp to elitism. Tell those rural kids that they'll never be able to compete with those urban kids. They're not good enough right? Or we could just do what travel baseball does and have tournaments every weekend and give kids big fake rings for winning a few games. The suburban public schools are typically the ones with more funds. Urban and rural schools have more in common in finances than they do with rural schools. I've taught and coached in all of it. The difference is attitude. But if you're jsut going to say you can't compete because you don't have the money then that's an excuse. Especially in basketball. The balls are the same size, the rims are the same height and size. The ball dribbles the same in some rural gym in mountains as it does in the FedEx forum. Charters come and go like a fart in the wind. They are no real threat to anyone. Magnets could be but rarely do they win either. It just hasn't been seen in Tennessee.
    • That’s a good line. Wins would be Soddy, Howard, and Ooltewah. Maybe East Ham again or Knox Central. Tyner maybe but being that late in the year it’s hard to say. I don’t think we get by Red Bank this year.    Rhea could be anywhere from 2-8 to 6-4.
    • I agree with the Farragut and Bradley claim. Those will both be wins. Bearden like you say is depending on when you get them in comparison to when the wheels fall off.  As far as West goes I’m 50-50. They have been able to reload so far so until they show me they haven’t I can’t count them out.
