#2 Oak Ridge Goes Down Tonight

Hats off to Ooltewah, they showed a lot of heart in tonight's win.

However, the fumbled called on Coffey was not even close. The kid made a fantastic hit right as the ball got there. Bottom line, Oak Ridge should have recovered from the bad call ... they didn't.

I think this loss makes Oak Ridge a more dangerous team, if the leadership handles it the right way.

I'll have to see the replay, but I believe both turnovers ruled fumbles were actually incomplete passes that were dropped, not fumbled...but, hats off to Ooltewah. They took advantage and converted 14 points on those incomplete passes they recovered. #40 for the owls is a stud.

yes #40 is a stud, and that goes out to whoever said he didn't look that good from the pic grad posted at the beginning of the season, mcdade is a beast..and also hats off to kyler burke for that incredible diving catch at the 1! great job guys

Here is how this region will end in the standings. Farragut and Oak Ridge next Firday night is for the region championship. The loser is 2nd no matter what. William Blount is 3rd and Ooltewah is 4th. Even if Oak Ridge loses OR is still second. There will be a 3 way tie for 2nd between OR, WB, OHS. The TSSAA tie breaker is head to head, which they beat each other. The 2nd tie breaker is overall record. That would give the 8-2 Wildcats 2nd. Then WB 3rd by virtue of head to head against Ooltewah. So no matter what happens WB is 3rd and Ooltewah is 4th.

Sounds like Oak Ridge did the same thing that Riverdale did tonight. They got out to a big lead and then went to sleep. Unfortunaely for the 'Cats, they were playing a much better team than we were.

I'm guessing that Farragut will see an OR team with a very high RBF next week.

Congrats to the Owls...big win...but I'm still picking OR out of the region 1-2 bracket.

Don't be so quick. Ooltewah and Oak Ridge will have identical records if Farragut wins. Which will make it come down to the OR/OHS head to head and giving the 2nd seed to the Owls. Big if... Farragut must win and Oak Ridge will be fired up after that loss. Will be quite interesting.

Great game by both teams! I'm very proud of the Owls! It was a great way to end senior night! This group of seniors stepped up BIG when it counted! But Oak Ridge is still a very dangerous team, and I would NOT want to play them again. I would love for Farragut to win next week, but I think OR has the advantage. But An Ooltewah win and Oak Ridge loss would be awesome!!

bradtkd, you put a lot of thought into your post, but not quite enough. It would be a three way tie for second - OR, OHS, WB...then overall record would put Billy Blount to 4th....then Ooltewah beat Oak Ridge...but you know what, who cares, because each team just needs to go out and win Friday night. I still think Region 2 should go 4-0 in the first round of the playoffs no matter what seed everyone is!

Go Owls!

    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
    • Dang I feel bad for the kid. I’m sure he loves his dad and wants to do anything for his dad but I don’t think he realizes his dad isn’t doing the best for his football career if he keeps jumping schools.
    • I’m not taking shots at the kid, but “athlete” is not something I would use to describe him. He was a long, lengthy, defensive back
