knight2
Yes, I think OZ will have a season like Kingston this year they are young. every team goes through a rebuilding year now and again. I think toward the end of the season both teams will be good. OZ might have the tougher district though it is loaded this year.
#42
The lady jackets, although young, have girls that have had significant playing time on the Varsity Squad. Katie Hardin, Alisha Martin and Brook Gentry all got quite abit of time last year as Freshman. This should benefit the lady jackets. Kayla Parks and Laura Fielden are the two returning Seniors. Whitney Thearpe is a returning Junior. Parks and Thearp have demonstrated the ability to shoot the 3 at times. Fielden is questionable due to a severe Knee injury suffered last year at Anderson County. They have a couple incoming Freshman that should be able to contribute right away. With all this being said, this year could be a tough year for the lady jackets. Its really going to depend on how this team comes together and develops. PhillipNeyland
IMO, Gentry is far and away the best player on that team. She can score, rebound, has good handles, makes the right pass at the right time. She is the whole package. As a freshman she garnered 2nd team all-district. This year she might get some recognition throughout East Tennessee. She's the real deal. Kingston will be as good as Gentry performs! knight2
Gentry is good but Katie Hardin is the better of the two.
#42
I agree with Neyland, Gentry is the best of those two. What about the incoming Freshman, Jennifer and Jacklyn Givens, Brianna Poole and Tayler Smith. Do you think any of them will get significant playing time? jacketsfan13
Lets see how Gentry performs this year now that every team knows she is their go to player. I'm not sure she can handle the pressure. As for the freshmen, Tayler Smith has the potential to be one of the better players to come through Kingston. I think Kingston is a year away from being really good.
PhillipNeyland
I believe Gentry will be challenged by teams this year. Last year teams focused on Sitzlar, and Brooke made them pay. In the district tourney she had games of 20+, 12, and 20+. Teams knew about her at that point and they couldn't stop her----AS A FRESHMAN!!!! I have no doubt that Brooke will have another fine season and be the leading scorer/rebounder. Possibly even assist/steals leader. SHE IS THAT GOOD!!! #42
If Gentry lives up to the expectations you've mentioned, the lady jackets will be ok. I think we'll have a better idea after this coming weeks preseason tournament at Webb. The lady jackets have 3 games Saturday, 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 12:00. #42
I believe they play Powell, Cleveland and Meigs County. Not sure of other teams that will participate
