I am completely unaffiliated with this district. In fact, if there were any bias on my part it would be towards Harpeth since my sister teaches there, but I have coached against both teams over the past four years, and Abby Lawson is the best individual player in that district. For years, Cheatham County was the hands down better team but not this year. Harpeth is a better TEAM with some very good individual players, but Cheatham has the best player in the district. We will be watching Lawson on TV for the next four years if she chooses to play.

It is not a surprise, They are returning Mandy Mendenhall and Kristi Ensminger, top 2 leading scorers, plus Salem Richardson, who also averaged double digits. I think it is great. I also just booked my room for Murfreesboro, Harpeth is going to state.

My preseason rankings:

1. Harpeth (14-0)

2. Sycamore (10-4)

3. Cheatham (9-5) wins coin toss (2 headed coin)

4. Creek Wood (9-5)

5. Fairview (7-7)

6. Stewart Co. (5-9)

7. Waverly (2-12)

8. Montgomery Central (0-14)

Fairview will finish ahead of Stewart Co. and I see them finishing 3rd or 4th in this new district. Very good shooting team and plays great defense. I reffed there camp this summer and Stewart Co. was beaten by Fairview by 30 plus in two games.

A team can improve a lot over the summer and that was camp. They had only practiced a week with their new coach and they were just getting started. Since camp they have really worked on things and they have greatly improved on defense and shooting. So i think that the team will compete with fairview and that will be a good game.

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
