bballfan99
well time to start tough conf. games. D.B. at central tuesday, evryone said D.B. was down this year but off to a 2-0 conf. start . central can be really good if they play all 4 quaters, cant take any team lightly in this conf...... should be a good crowd at the cougar den. central played a really good team from fl. yesterday, got down by 12 or 14 in first half and battled back to within 3 or 4. if they play hard like that they will be tough to beat. 1cougarfan
Was impressed with the teams play against the team from Florida yesterday. They battled a team that was bigger and more physical than any they will face in the big 9 right down to the wire. The Cougars, if they continue to improve, could surprise some people this year including me! Just heard that Central is going to honor the 1970-71 team that went 36-0 on Friday against Sullivan East. Should be interresting. Go Cougars!
theringleader
so who has any thoughts on the Central versus DB matchup?
Cougar Crazy
I think it should be a great game. DB does have one of their weaker teams, but that doesn't mean they can't compete. It's been said before that any team in the big 9 can win on any given night. If Central doesn't come ready to play then it should be close. I know the Cougars are going to be fired up, though, since its their home opener at the Dickie Warren Dome. Central by 15.

Saw Sullivan Central at Greeneville tourney and was impressed with the way they play. I don't really know if they have the depth or inside presence to compete for a district or region championship in AAA, but they will compete every night and will be in most games. They have some great shooters, but when they have to work really hard on defense, the threes might not always fall as the game wears on(Bearden game). Good luck Cougars and prove the naysayers wrong.....
megahops24
I agree.Central isn't off to the start they were hoping, and still haven't played at home yet.I think Central will be the aggressor this game, and I don't think DB has a guy that can guard Buchanon.I think it will be a 4 quarter game, but Central will pull it off in the end. bballfan99
central has lost 4 games was in 3of the 4 till the very end. ran into a bearden team that shot lights out from 3 point range, only trailed by 5 at halftime. the other 3 losses could have went either way and was to good teams. science hill at science hill, powell and a team out of florida. they were all good experience for central. Cougar Crazy
The cougars aren't starting off the season how they would have liked to, But thats not to say they aren't a good team. Last years team started off 1-3, losing to some crappy teams. This year, Central has been in 3 difficult losses against three very good teams. In each of those losses the margin of victory for the opposing team was no more than 10 (to science hill because they were clutch in the last minutes). Also, the three's haven't been falling for us as they usually do. Playing these difficult teams will only make Central better. Once the Cougars mature and play the kind of ball they are capable of, other teams better watch out. ArtVandalay
I'm a DB Fan. I grew up watching the Indians under Buck Van Huss go up against The Central Cougars under Dickie Warren... It was good!! I for one and glad that Central is back in AAA... ask alot of fans of High School Basketball in Kingsport and Blountville and they will tell you the same thing.. I went to the Central Dome a couple of years ago and watched the Region 1 AA Championship Game between Central and Volunteer.. It was obvious that night that Volunteer had the best Talent on the Court, it was also obvious that night that the Cougars could care less who had more talent... Central won, I was impressed. DB is young, very young, but they will scrap.. I have not seen the Cougars play yet, but I will Tuesday night... I can't wait to get this old Rivalry jump started. Giddy Up!! MikeJones281-330-8004
Sullivan central has alot of shooters on there team and i dont think that db can hold that one gabe 22 i think that is his name he is nice for the three point shots and knows how to dish the ball in the paint so db is going to have a run for there money Edited December 5, 2005 by MikeJones281-330-8004
