DeAngelo Williams ended his career at Memphis is style today rushing for 223 yards on 30 carries and setting an NCAA record with his 34th 100 yard game, breaking the mark held by Tony Dorsett and Archie Griffin. He also ended up 4th on the NCAAs career rushing list with 6,021 yards.

He's going to be a great NFL back too.

He's gonna be a star you can just tell. And congrats to Memphis on the win and representing Tennesse well. Memphis will never be a powerhouse in football, but they are winning, I just wish they could get more support. They are winning conf-usa and bowl games with a roster filled with West Tennesse talent. Over 40 players on that team are from Memphis and West Tennessee even if it is a big rivarly between UT and them, you have to give Memphis thier props for staying in state and recruiting. A lot of those guys are not walk-ons but are under scholarship and thats just a testiment to Tommy West's commitment to staying in state. Life without DeAngelo wont be as good, but it wont be bad either. Joseph Doss from Melrose is no #20 but he will be a great back, and with big Paul Edwards from McKenzie going into his sophmore year in 2006 the O-Line will be getting a big upgrade.

Also word his Tommy West is staying true to his West Tennesse talent, and is going to land another great athlete/back as he did with Doss, Williams (Crockett Co.), and Smith (Milan).

More support? They've averaged 40,000 people three years in a row, with only two SEC home games. And why can't Memphis be a powerhouse in football? As long as Tommy West is there, they'll be good.

They're doing about as well as anybody in the nation that doesn't get a BCS welfare check.

Tommy West has done a very good job at Memphis. He will continue to do so. The attendance has been up since he arrived

It's always been pretty good for the quality of play on the field. Now that it's a good product, they're drawing 40k. They still drew 20-25 even when they were wretched.

    • No reasonable lawyer would take up this case. I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. I will be waiting.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39431892/judge-drops-ole-miss-player-lawsuit-lane-kiffin
    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
