FLYHIGHJETS
What is everyones opinion of the Cumberland County Lady Jets going all the way and winning the state championship this season? I think this could very well be the year they finally pull it off. They are very strong and deep. They will be very strong for several more seasons as well. If CC wins region, then I think they will advance to the state tourny. I would love to see CC win the state championship, this team looks good this year. Best of Luck the rest of the way..GO LADY JETS

They will make it to the regions but perhaps not without a loss as they go through the districts...with Cleveland, Bradley Central, Walker Valley, McMinn Co & my team, Cumberland County all in District 5, 3A, I say it is not only tough, but the toughest district in the state...which could easily result in the Regions being comprised of District 5 only teams. Along those lines, if our district doesn't prepare a team for a run at the state, nothing will. Hood, Elmore, Smith, Brown, Martin, Henry, Dishman, others, and my pick for 3A Ms. Basketball, Casha Foster, are lucky to be teammates and can go as far as they choose. They have to (and maybe do) realize it's in their hands...not their oppositions, but their own. There is no room to take a breather, not in our district. Among our challenges is to learn to put teams away when we have the opportunity (not run up the score, just put them safely away). We tend to let teams hang around too long. No doubt the Blue Raideretts (spelling) will have their ears pinned back tomorrow. We should come out on top, but, as they say, if we knew the outcome beforehand there wouldn't be any need to play the game.
allnet
You are right and it is not raideretts. They are Lady Raiders.
HUCK
It's critical that they win the region. There are alot of players in the district that can take over (Pickel, Butler, Simpson). Tourney time is step up time. The Lady Jets have the guns, the question is if they will all be firing at the same time!
BBALLTN
I would like for them to Win it all, but i dont think their deep enough or big enough at post. Also against a bigger team that presses I think they will struggle. They shoot the ball well and play with alot of heart and that could take them all the way. The other thing is can this Coach GET IT DONE in a tough game, or will he get out-Coached? Edited January 28, 2006 by BBALLTN
muffin
They just lost to Cleveland in double overtime 82-78.
wildukcats
I would say your coach has done a great job so far in big games. I know both games with Walker Valley were close. At WV you were down 16 I believe and came back to finish the deal. It is not always the coaches fault when teams lose. Sometimes the players just have a bad night, the calls are going the other way or their are matchup problems. You win as a team and lose as a team. Blaming the coach is an easy cop out. I guess Pat Summitt should be questioned since she was coaching the #1 team in the country and they got their butts handed to them by Puke, I mean Duke! Then they blew a close game at Rupp Arena last night to an unranked Kentucky team that had not beaten them in 20 years. The sun does shine on a dog's butt every once and a while. myersof25
I think the Lady Jets have the talent to go to state. I watched them play last night against Cleveland and Cleveland played well and Cumberland Co. didn't play that great and still took Cleveland to double OT. There are some great teams in our district this year as always. Anybody can win on any night. The run through the tournament will be tough for them but I think and hope they can do it. GOOD LUCK LADY JETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BC#2
I don't think Cumberland played bad, I just think Cleveland had more energy out of the gate and jumped on top early. It amazed me how Cumberland kept coming back. Those Cumberland girls shoot the 3 very well, seems like everyone on the team is a good 3 point shooter. Big win for the Lady Raiders. big_country35
The Lady Jets have been great fun to watch this season. From 15 point deficits at halftime, to demolishing teams by 48, they have talent, and alot of it. They also have heart, and alot of it. Not to mention a great coach in Coach Smith. He knows how to get the best out of his girls day in and day out. With all those attributes, and the depth of the team, they are definately a factor in going to and winning the state. Bring it home! The other thing is can this Coach GET IT DONE in a tough game, or will he get out-Coached? You got a great coach at CCHS. His biggest problem is satisfying all the parents and playing their children. He has great depth and has an excellent feeder program in the county. There will be two great teams in Crossville next year. I do not think anyone can criticize him at this time. Go Jets!
