Let me start out by saying that my opinion is biased for Springfield, but that is THE WORST officiated game I have ever seen. The refs were definately calling the game for one team. reach in fouls on Springfield but not on Mt Juliet( I understand calling reaching but call it both ways) every lose ball call went to Mt. Juliet even the obvious ones. Good luck to Mt. Juliet.

Very, very, very tough game for officiating. Both teams played an extremely aggressive style, and MJ as much as Springfield. All things equal Springfield had a chance to win but did keep throwing the ball away!

Coach Allen made great substitutions, really a factor in the victory!

Congrats to the Bears! Wow!!

To start out, the technical foul call was called for, basically he said b.s. after having already been warned earlier in the game, but anyways. Congrats to Dickson County, playing the stall worked out, even though its kinda sad to go home on that but whatever. To the spectacular 7 seniors, thank you for four years of playing.

What a tough loss for Beech. Wheeler should not hang his head as he's had a tremendous career for the Bucs over the years, as well as all of the other seniors. Great job, Bucs, and thanks for the ride! ;)

If you'd read in between the lines, I wasnt saying the ref shouldnt have called the tech..I was saying that Primm should have just walked away and kept his mouth closed. Obviously if someone uses profanity on the floor you call a tech....Read the post again and maybe you'll get a better understanding.

Dickson County leads by 6 points with under 10 seconds to play. (The DC fans have already started the "hey, hey - goodbye" chant)

Beech forward Adam Thompson drained a three-pointer and was fouled with eight seconds remaining. Dickson County's Kurt Primm was whistled for a technical foul while lining up at the free throw line as well, sending Buccaneer guard Jonathan Shaw to the charity stripe for a pair of free throws. Thompson made the ensuing free throw to pull his squad to within two points. Shaw made 1-of-2 to pull his squad to within a point.

Beech gets the ball on the side with 8 seconds to go (something happened next - can't remember - maybe a Beech timeout or Dickson knocked the ball out bounds) and they end up with another out of bounds play from the sideline with 3 seconds to go. They run a great play and throw it in for an apparent easy lay-in, but Ben Wheeler is fouled hard and is sent to the free throw line with 1.8 seconds to go ... and he misses both free throws.

Dickson County grabbed the rebound and falls to the floor ... and the final 1.8 seconds elapsed. Game over.

Unbelievable. Both #1 seeds fall in the same night. Clarksville and LaVergne could both win tonight and set up a region tournament with only teams left that played in the consolation games of their district tournaments. That would be unbelievable.

As far as Springfield, the refs didn't lose the game for them. All the turnovers and bad shots cost them the game. The refs did miss a few as always (especially the charge on the one-on-one play towards the end that went against Springfield), but John Mark Hendricks had 4 turnovers in the last few minutes. Mt. Juliet is a very tough and disciplined team and they earned the victory.

My thoughts about the rest of the tournament ...

LaVergne is sitting pretty on their side of the bracket. They should be clear favorites against Henry County and Dickson County. The Clarksville/Hendersonville winner will have their hands full with Mt. Juliet in the semi-finals. It has been a great tournament so far!

HHS jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead, but then Clarksville went on a little run to take the lead, and they held it the whole game. HHS's strength this year has been defense and making open shots, and they struggled at both tonight. #15 for Clarksville was able to drive to the hoop and get some easy shots and assists. HHS also struggled against the big guys down low on defense. So while CHS was making easy buckets near the hoop, HHS was settling for contested shots, and they didn't fall. HHS trailed by 11 at half, and they got it down to 7 early in the 3rd, but CHS kept getting close shots while HHS struggled shooting. So CHS's lead kept growing, and it was just too much. HHS couldn't hit anything early in the 4th, but they started pressing and getting some open looks that finally fell, but it was too little too late.

It just seems like HHS didn't play up to their potential. The reason they only lost 1 regular season game was tough D and making open shots, but these last 2 games, the defense struggled and the shots, whether open or contested, just did not fall. HHS had a great season, but they just struggled when it mattered during tourney time. Tough way to end a stellar year.
